This music video features a great combination of "quirky indie creators from Japan's Nico Nico era" and "major studios of today," chosen by Marine. As stated at the top of the credits, Marine was in charge of planning and supervision, and as always, she used a large amount of her own money and effort. I love all of her entertainment, from chatting to collaborations.
It's a bittersweet video. It looks as if she raided her own ship in the future and found her own ghost, and she had been trapped inside the Maribako. What a terrible day for rain.
And Marine kind of mentioned it a bit in the live, when she was introducing the song: No one would open her "box", so she remained trapped inside it and died, and her ghost haunted the ship, all angry at so many years being trapped. If you remember Maribako's song, it was all about "open the booooooox", which, of course, it's a bit of an innuendo for "f*ck me". So yes, a horny woman can come back to haunt you as a box. nobody has to scream for this to be considered metal, this is absolutely firmly rooted in symphonic metal, even if marines voice sits very high in the mix and she sings clean.

Funnily enough the deeper meaning to this song is Marine coming to terms with her fading youth. It by far is her best song yet in terms of musc, video and meaning. I have a mate that is full into anime, and he said this song's fighting animation is better than most shows he's watched.

It seems like Marine trying to make a MV without tapping on her strongest feature, which is her sexiness. We all know that Marine have such a great voice, but most of her MV had certain 'mature' vibe in it which I felt overshadow her talents. So, I think this is her experiment to see if she can farm views without using her strongest feature. The song and MV is great BTW. She never failed to deliver when it comes to MVs.
This MV is very mature as well, just...Not in the way we're used to. xD It is a lore video that ties in with the "eternally 17" jokes and the heaviness there is to deal with that, considering chat constantly teses her about it. "Have you the determination to let go" coupled with all the lines about fearing to be forgotten hits so hard when you realise that, yeah...Letting go the cute and young persona to embrace the more mature side may make people leave her like a ghost of her past glory, but at the same time being trapped in playing cute as the year goes is unhealthy past a certain point. By making her character a ghost captain (which is quite the badass trope) she can remain eternally 17 while nobody is surprised by the old/lady side anymore. She's not either "the cool young captain" or "the horny lady", they're both part of her. It's a theme that seems to come back often it's a bit worrying, like in Unisson showing all the costumes then asking "pick me" while in the end she's not any "one" of them but all the versions...I wouldn't be surprised if she's really struggling. At least this MV and the added lore seems to give a feel of closure over the issue.

Failure to change means that they will become irrelevant in time and fade into obscurity. Many people and franchises have had that exact fate befall them for that exact reason. This is a certified 2010 reverse isekai anime about supernatural beings coming to the human world, and our MC, being the chosen one, is suddenly dragged into this war, and he has to fight to protect the new friends he's made along the way. This is by far the best Marine song that can potentially burst out of the Vtuber music bubble. The fighting animation is insane and the story of the song is just phenomenal when you tie it to " I'm Your Treasure Box".
In my opinion and understandng, the living red pirate is not the original marine which is indicated by the color of her eyes. The ghost one is the original marine after trapped in the treasure box after many years, as the continuation of the Marine's Treasure Box. However, there are obviously many interpretations for this MV from different people until sencho herself explains the true message/story later in her own chatting stream. It may change my current interpretation, but for now, it's time to loop this MV since the music is banging and the animation is heavenly~

Ma'am believes everyone forgot about her, but this Marine didn't and went all the way to her ghost ship (again, old stories leading to the mark on the map) to find the lost treasure to free her from isolation.
i saw a comment on the offical MV making the idea that how she stays "always 17" is something like a time loop with repeating the same things over and over, and now it's time to stop the loop and actually move forward.
I'm watching this for the first time.. here's my interpretation.. it's Marine trying to embrace her past self after she tried to cover it up and try to open "new page" with her new self, now she realised that she could make a hella long story book with a lot of ups and downs in the story instead of trying to be "perfect" with it.... and I'm here for it, the first time she open up about her past RPG game development era, her obsession of VN and linear RPG in general, her young edgy side.... I love it.

I watched the MV earlier and I, too, expected something ecchi cause of the punny title and was surprised it's not that. I love the parts that uses the music from the Treasure Box song. The animation is what impressed me the most cause holy shit there's a fight scene and it's not just a bunch of stills! (Marine's singing, is of course, impressive but we all knew that already so it's no surprise whatsoever). I saw a clip where she was talking about how most of the money for really amazing videos like this has to come from their salary and usually not the company's cause it's a lot and it's risky so I'm still amazed at how dedicated she is to having these made. OST recommendation: "Stalemate" from the Death Note live musical. Yes! There was a live action musical and they actually had it performed outside of Japan! The songs from the Japanese version got translated/adapter for English release and I love listening to the english version of "Stalemate". Please listen to it - it's a song that's supposed to be sung by Light and L (plus Misa).
A real cool detail is the fight scene is clearly heavily inspired by the sort of 'Bullet Hell' games that the Touhou franchise is famous for. This is noteworthy because both Toby Fox and Marine are huge Touhou fans. This is by far the best Marine song that can potentially burst out of the Vtuber music bubble. The fighting animation is insane and the story of the song is just phenomenal when you tie it to " I'm Your Treasure Box".
In my opinion and understandng, the living red pirate is not the original marine which is indicated by the color of her eyes.
The ghost one is the original marine after trapped in the treasure box after many years, as the continuation of the Marine's Treasure Box.
However, there are obviously many interpretations for this MV from different people until sencho herself explains the true message/story later in her own chatting stream.
It may change my current interpretation, but for now, it's time to loop this MV since the music is banging and the animation is heavenly~

I feel like it's more likely a metaphorical battle of freeing herself from her own mind or some type of internal struggle (The Box). Just seems like what the lyrics and video point towards best and would fit better thematically than one of the Marines being some random other person
@@faenethlorhalien Consiering the very first shot is someone dropping a flower like one would during funerals it could very well be anyone, a girl who became pirate inspired by Ma'am and started copying her looks and all from the old stories talking about the lost pirate. Ma'am believes everyone forgot about her, but this Marine didn't and went all the way to her ghost ship (again, old stories leading to the mark on the map) to find the lost treasure to free her from isolation.

I'm watching this for the first time.. here's my interpretation.. it's Marine trying to embrace her past self after she tried to cover it up and try to open "new page" with her new self, now she realised that she could make a hella long story book with a lot of ups and downs in the story instead of trying to be "perfect" with it.... and I'm here for it, the first time she open up about her past RPG game development era, her obsession of VN and linear RPG in general, her young edgy side.... I love it.
This could well be apocryphal, but the story I heard said Toby asked what Marine wanted in the music, and she just sent him a copy of Megalovania. Which tracks with the inclusion of the "Ahoy" and "treasure box" motifs.

I watched the MV earlier and I, too, expected something ecchi cause of the punny title and was surprised it's not that. I love the parts that uses the music from the Treasure Box song. The animation is what impressed me the most cause holy shit there's a fight scene and it's not just a bunch of stills! (Marine's singing, is of course, impressive but we all knew that already so it's no surprise whatsoever). I saw a clip where she was talking about how most of the money for really amazing videos like this has to come from their salary and usually not the company's cause it's a lot and it's risky so I'm still amazed at how dedicated she is to having these made.
OST recommendation: "Stalemate" from the Death Note live musical. Yes! There was a live action musical and they actually had it performed outside of Japan! The songs from the Japanese version got translated/adapter for English release and I love listening to the english version of "Stalemate". Please listen to it - it's a song that's supposed to be sung by Light and L (plus Misa).
A real cool detail is the fight scene is clearly heavily inspired by the sort of 'Bullet Hell' games that the Touhou franchise is famous for. This is noteworthy because both Toby Fox and Marine are huge Touhou fans. Similarly a lot of Toby's music takes cues from Touhou and, as you mentioned never having heard this type of singing from Marine before, it is worth mentioning she once released an entire album of Touhou covers featuring a plethora of other Hololive members as the featured vocals.
