Exactly this, it baffles me to hear nay-Sayers against NATO in each country. Like one politician in my country who said 'The war in ukraine is the best thing that happened and putin is the dark knight' in combination with an anti-NATO sentiment. Before the formation of NATO and the EU we had so much war for over 2000 years in our regions. And have had relative peace ever since... not only does it deter outside threats... it also binds us together in the idea that we might be slightly different culturally... we all want to live our lives in peace without wars in our lifetime. So yeah... agreed
@@Redisia yeah, as an American, I really can’t understand why anti-NATO sentiment has become so prevalent in political discourse in the last several years (and to a lesser extent, the last few decades.) It’s especially unnerving when someone who is (as of writing this comment, WAS) technically the commander-in-chief of our armed forces talk disparagingly about the alliance, and even make masked threats alluding to what would amount to undermining the alliance itself (I’m sure you can guess who I’m referring to). Thankfully, the Russian invasion of Ukraine seems to have woken a lot of naysayers up, and reinvigorated enthusiasm for NATO. We even welcomed a new member recently (Finland), and hopefully will be welcoming another one soon. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Justice or injustice, our team against theirs. Our will against theirs. That would be more proper motive to rally around, since diverse peoples and cultures can't agree on definition of justice. Usually it is just a stand in for self-interest. And if it can be agreed upon, the standards have probably been dragged down to make that possible. We are not hypocrites, or at least I would not like to give that impression. But we have legitimate security interests in common, on which the fate of western civilization depends in practice. A civilization that cannot or doesn't want to rule its own fate probably doesn't and will be done down by more unscrupulous actors.
I remember cleaning houses in Afghanistan with Polish troops. I didn’t understand their language, but I fully understood the same battle tactics used. Literally no second guessing the mission objective
@@RichardWilliams3754 They would certainly have bilingual people* attached to something like that.. and the troops are all taught phrases, but it's hard to remember that shit in the heat of the moment.

As an American and New Yorker I grew up in the shadows of the twin towers and my dad, an immigrant from Ireland, worked on the construction of those towers so I was deeply touched when NATO invoked article 5 for the first time and only time so far in its 70 year history. Nobody of those soldier's is seeing that way. All of them fighting for theirs own country's. They finally understand that Poland always was defending Europe from the Russian and Ottomans. So if you do not let Poland lose the war will never come to your home again.
Russia can’t even beat Ukraine and they want to pick a fight with NATO, the alliance might as well pack up and go home as the only threat from Russia is sending a piss poor quality of Vodka🤣🤣
oh idk lots of ppl still believe in the concept / or rather reality of the free world ,n standing together ,, and arent into conspiracy theories .. the alt right /russophiles get a lot of attn cuz theyre vocal ,and maybe in the US are a sizable perecentage , but am pretty sure that overall those of us not like that are still the majority ,across Nato
No I think it’s real, people love NATO so it doesn’t have to be moderated. Love for NATO is definitely at an all-time high because of the Ukraine conflict, so that’s great. People are finally appreciating NATO properly now
The battlegroups are still far too small as to not even be a trip wire but that's politics. Poland may be relatively secure due to it's own large armed forces, good logistics and the US presence but the Baltic States definitely are not secure due to the excessive time needed to adequately reinforce these nations, which in itself may invite a move from the perpetual invader.
It's too bad they're only stationing battalion-sized units. What about brigade-sized elements? I'm sure NATO member states have enough troops to spare (okay maybe not Germany but still)

How could you possibly be against a defense alliance consisting democratic countries?

Well NATO never declared war on anyone. U can criticize Western hypocrisy on many levels, but NATO is a defensive pact
