      No matter what Hyundai does, its still a Hyundai, incoming recalls, reliability and safety issues. Also the new 5er look tremendously better than this, the build quality is not even on the same level. Get this so youll save some money but dont think youll get the same car for less money, it will and always be a crappy Korean car.

    After sitting in the Kia Cerato GT, I expect this car to blow me away as well. Styling is 100% improvement IMO and am digging the new Z-esque "modern interpretation of early 90's style" rear end. As you mentioned, if they had a wagon, I'd be ordering one right now.

      Can’t say I was able to generate much wheelspin in the dry without deliberately being hard on the car (as demonstrated in the video) but this one has fresh tyres which also helps.

    I'm in the market next year and this is at the top of my list. Like you said, I think white is a great color choice for the '24 Sonata N-Line. Shows off the darker elements of the car well.
    I wish here in the U.S. we got the same level of options that Australians do. No window shades, seat memory, seat ventilation, and I believe no vents for the back seat, either. I can understand why they loaded up the Australian version, though, if you do not have the Limited.

    Thanks for the review. I actually quite like this car. I remember back in the late 80s, I was driving a Saab 9000 Turbo without ABS. It was slightly raining and the road was wet without I realizing it. Any car at that time that can do 0-100 in less than 8 secs was considered as a quick car. I floored it and it skidded from the left lane to the third lane. I did not know what I had done to rectify the situation and luckily it did not crash.
    From that time I realized a front wheel drive car with good torque can be quite dangerous especially without much safety tech at the old days. This car really reminds me of that it still costs around the same amount today. Unbelievable. It really makes it attractive.

    Still driving our Hyundai i45 from 2011 which was what Sonata became during that time before reverting back to Sonata branding in Australia. It has been mechanically excellent, even doing two road trips across the country, and hasn’t missed a beat. This new Sonata would be quite the update, while we think about updating, but don’t really need to… Despite some exterior and tech and entertainment updates, plusher seats, it still looks very familiar. I’d chose the white😍

    So is this available as a non N Line or is this the only trim. Also on their website its moved to the "midsize" category

      He literally said at the beginning of the review “the only version of the 8th gen Sonata available in Australia” 🙄 or did you just skip to the end of the video?

  • @smovol1847
    @smovol1847 11 месяцев назад

    Skoda Octavia is a C-class 5-door liftback while new Sonata is E-class 4-door saloon. There's a completely different segments!

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  11 месяцев назад +1

      The simple fact is there is not really anywhere near the sales volumes required to bother with that distinction. The fact is: the Octavia RS is a midsize sedan/wagon (OK, a liftback, it doesn’t matter) with a similar price to the upper-midsize Sonata sedan. In Australia they are direct rivals.

    • @smovol1847
      @smovol1847 11 месяцев назад

      @@chasingcars first of all, thanks for answering. Secondly, Octavia is a compact car (C), not midsize (D), which shares MQB platform with Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and SEAT Leon. The direct (if we drop the fact that Skoda doesn't make 4d saloons - but 5d liftbacks) competitor to Octavia (RS or not) is Hyundai Elantra (i30 saloon in AU). Step above them - Skoda Superb - midsize (D) liftback / estate. And one more step - and we could find modern Hyundai Sonata, which is large or executive or business saloon (E). As for pricing - that another question and it depends from market / region, of course.

    lol 65k for a front wheel drive OPEN DIFF ? Who are they kidding, you can get a type R for a few grand more. Car manufacturers are really treating Australia like a backwater these days. Honda doing the same with no AWD on the CRV hybrid.

    In my country Cab drivers and Uber Drivers destroyed this wonderful car. Like if you use this car back home whenever you stop at a restaurant they will automatically sign to you to go to the back of the restaurant as restaurant don't want the Sonata (Or Kia K5 to be seen) two of my friends sold their Sonata because of how annoyed they eventually got ahhaha

    Interior looks good but the grey colour in the video looks faded and cheapens the look. Would prefer a darker colour or black.
