Hi, I've an acer aspire E5-571g. The supervisor password is greyed out and and I can't set it and do anything. Any ideas please. The whole bios menu is greyed out except the date and time. I can't boot to anything bcoz F12 is disabled, the only way to make it work is to set a supervisor password but it's all greyed out!! I'll appreciate any help guys. Thx
When I try boot it it just restarts in loop I tried everything like changing bios uefa to legacy and all but nothings changed so I downloaded windows again to laptop. However the laptop doesn’t Work at all without the usb drive. How to fix?
try resetting to defaults - then turn off secureboot, and run in UEFI. get a fresh windows USB installer. boot from installer in UEFI mode - that should be your best bet. if not Im at a loss.
it cant run at all even if i change to UEFI or legacy. Initially I ran it in UEFI as the rufus windows file cant launch in secure boot and legacy only in UEFI. It can launch windows perfectly but requires the usb at all times. When i take it out it just stops working. @@michaeljillian3657
@@michaeljillian3657 I tried multiple times to install new windows but it doesn't show drive where to install Windows while setup is starting and asking for disk to choose from, would I have to buy new drive?
@@anjugrover3553 well in that case I would definitely open up the computer. (Very easy on this model) And take a look at the drive. Maybe try connecting it to a computer using a sata to USB connector. But ultimately buying a new drive would be a solid solution. However of course it's always possible that your connector inside the computer is somehow messed up. But not very probable. Chances are the drive is just on its last legs. You can buy a goldenFIR from AliExpress for $11. Alternatively you can get a team group SSD on Amazon for $16. 128 is enough for most people nowadays. Easy fix and will also make the computer faster in general. Good luck though and update me please
@@michaeljillian3657 thanks for the reply sir, I opened up cleaned ssd drive and port with eraser and cleaning solution, checked all connections multiple times but still same result it shows in bios but not in boot menu and when I turn on laptop it says no bootable device found, here nearby shop technician is asking for $30 for 256 gb nvme drive of consistent brand 3rd gen plus installation of windows on it, I don't have external nvme case to check wether it would work on usb connection or not, it would have been great if I could have been able to get data back as I don't have any backup it's 3.5 years of work, I thought that sad don't get faulty so I never took backup but 1 single bsod error and then it did not start again, it was kingston 512 gb drive which came installed on my acer laptop.

I wish I could help. Try googling your model and typing Reddit afterwards. That seems to work sometimes. People on Reddit are always so resourceful.
A supervisor password is not required to enable F12 Boot Menu. Find the option to enable in Bios

Bios menu shows drive but boot menu shows no drive to choose from what to do, could my drive be bad?
Could be, Alternatively there is nothing to boot from, (happens sometimes that boot sector gets corrupted) try reinstalling windows from a flashdrive

What if I don't have boot option menu?
Maybe try a different function key?
I did this and still secure password's grayed out
maybe try resetting all settings and then following instructions. I hope it works
