    I do enjoy your work on the CAT Equipment. I worked at the Decatur, IL plant 33 yrs. Decatur began building motor graders in 1955, off-highway trucks in 68 and tractor scrapers in the 60's also. They now build trucks 769-----797's, the scraper line 620's---650's, and 4 yrs back they took on some of the wheel loaders/compactors. 970---988's. Motor graders were moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in the 90's.
    They have a work force of approx 3800+/-. housed in some 2.8mil sq feet.

    keep it upbeat dealing with us over your shoulder. Lol you look like you would be gruffy to us, but bring us along up close and personal. Thanks for all your time setting up cams, editing even after long days and into the nights.

    Well the you tube algorithm must be having a field day .. I'm getting a lot of these videos at a year or more in age . Not that I'm worried I'm enjoying watching them . I guess the way you get rid of the cracks are to grind them out till they either burst through the other side or the crack actually disappears then plate and reweld till the crack has been filled . A very time consuming task made even more interesting by some of the locations and the lack of accessibility. Thanks for sharing

    Welding close to plastic caplugs. Have you ever looked up 3M 3361 stainless steel tape to use as a secondary cover on a few positions. Not cheap at 20 bucks for a 1"×9 ' roll but when you only need a few inches to save hours of clean up. I would also think a bunch of water jet cut discs and a few minutes each in a lathe would work great in the long run. Since are a welder . Perhaps you could get tech friends to cut off the ends of junk hoses to fill with silicone to make plugs. It's just a thought .

    Those cleaner teeth take a beating when a well lodged rock comes around. I made a set for a wedge foot where several were wiped out by mis aligned drum I believe. Made a thicker set and more weld and they took it. At some point we put in a 3 inch diameter axle. Turned out to be a good packer

    Just stumbled on your channel and I'm going to need to talk to the owner about rigging our service truck up with some better gear! We have a miller suitcase but it's running plain old fluxcore so for most field work I use 7018 but on some gigs especially in the Arizona sun I'd much rather burn some dual shield in and be out like trout. I used to run allot of that in structural

    • @OFW
      @OFW  2 года назад +1

      Believe it or not there are still guys who believe 7018 is faster than dual shield. Time is money get it done and get on to the next job that’s my way of thinking.

    The wheel cleaner seems poorly designed to me. Both cleaners should be at the top of the wheel. At an angle so that the dirt in the sample is not crushed by the cleaner, but thrown out of the sample. Do not attach the individual cleaning mandrels to the holder, but to the pin. Tiltable for reverse direction of movement.
