    But if its 1/3 ^-3 why isnt that the same as 1/3•1/3. Bevpcause cant you write a negative number as the fraction. I'm confused how your getting 3^3 out of it instead.

      yes, it can be, if the function was, for instance, -3^n, instead of 3^n
