Max was pulling away the entire lap until the last sector when it looked like he made a mistake. Still a great lap compared to where they were the rest of the weekend, even if his fastest lap in third practice wasn't on softs.
I think those last 10 laps were Max taking it to the NEXT...level! The Psy Ops Game! In an effort to get the fans to stop complaining about Max winning every weekend? Sandbag the last ten laps, so we think it was a real close nail bighter, when in fact Max had all the performance and then some to keep Lando or anyone else for that matter from ever getting close enough to even try a long-shot move. Psy Ops! 😉
Looking forward to a similar analysis of the battle for P1 during the race. Norris made a tiny mistake like 4 laps before the end, losing .2-.3 seconds, without that, he might have gotten into Verstappen's DRS-window a lap earlier. Just goes to show, Norris was riding the very edge of his car's physical limitations to perform. He couldn't have squeezed a hair's breadth of performance more than he did without ending in a wall. It's also wild to see how McLaren bounced back from start of last sason, where it was the single slowest car in the field and now it's giving RB a run for its money.
I'm convinced Max is sand bagging it in practice to keep a perception that the rest of the cars are close to him. The fact is, he can stay in front of any other car he wants at any time. Maybe F1 had a chat with him and explained that huge leads in the race contribute to fan drop off. All this drama they try to create at FP1-3 isn't really there. And during the race, he was letting the McLaren draw in close to create drama at the end of the race. Expect to see more of the same throughout the year...

I know Max is great but this clearly shows max gained all the time on the straights and don't say he prioritizes exits because the first straight makes it evident how much better the red bull is
first straight was the tow. Every other straight was exits. Apart from the main straight, Imola doesnt have any long enough to show true straight line speed so theyre mostly down to exit. You can see how bad the RB was coming out of the final corner after he got a bad exit.
Again fool write nonsense where is perez? And where is Max. Mclaren was faster but the pilots are weaker. Max is king he is that extra which makes the difference
Doesn't look like Max had to "turn it around" during the lap. He was ahead of Lando throughout the lap. He always had more traction out of the corners. I think the bulk of the hard work was done in the setup to get the car to this point.
I personally think RB20 is the fastest cars but not easy to drive. Of course the fine tuning in setup and whatnot is a major reason for the speed but I still feel that Max needs the maximum effort in order to bag those poles.
Stop coping. Every one takes advantage when there is a tow opportunity. Max even admitted himself that the tow helped him a lot. Max helped Nico in Q2, and Nico helped him in Q3.
That pretty commend between teams that don't fight against each other. We saw it a lot with Alpha Tauri and RB giving each other a tow. It's obviously wierd having a teammate that isn't in that position because he is to slow lol
That Hulkenberg detail...😂😂😂😅
well Hulkenberg gave Max slipstream
It's very relevant for context actually, pretty much that tow made the difference!
@@leto_atreusII but only because max made a mistake at the end. It is not that that Norris normal pace would have been better.
Why not Piastri? His P2 lap was valid, the grid drop was for something seperate. More interesting comparison than Norris
not that different tbh just 0.018 ,if piastri had lando's final sector he would be on pole
I think this one uses Norris' due to Piastri 3 grid position penalty which makes Norris the legitimate P2 now
