    Some gentle advice from an ex Scania Master Tech.: Never open the package of parts you will be using before you need them, lay out the parts that came off in a sequence and THEN open the parts package and lay the new parts out in the same sequence to see a) you have the right parts and b) you got everything out!
    Those aluminium bushes at the bottom of the air bag were regularly failing as they are right wher teh road crap gets thrown up. I was doing like 3 sets a night when on inspections.
    You opened all the packages and had loose items mixed up with other loose items which is risky without a parts list to reference. Mind I was the same as a kid at Christmas ...
    But great to see the Black Beauty being restored to nice condition.

      Well if they only had a travers roof crane, it would be easy to hold the cab up while change those parts right. Now cut them some slack, they obviously don't have the needed tool inventory that you would find at a certified shop.. They are a happy band of brothers having fun on a youtube channel. Whats wrong with that.

    Simple easy way to install those sway bearings (or pretty much any bearing) is to put the bearings in a freezer for 15 minutes and heat the bar to uncomfortable to touch temp. The frozen bearings just about drop right in. This process works exceptionally well for changing starter ring gears on flywheels. I would put the flywheel in the freezer for 30 minutes and the ring gear in an oven at 250f.

    • @vihreelinja4743
      @vihreelinja4743 18 дней назад +7

      i keep them in the freezer overnight if possible. 15 minutes sounds way too short for bearings of that size.

    • @baltazard133T
      @baltazard133T 17 дней назад

      Except applying extreme heat to sprung steel parts like the sway bar, springs or anything of the like is about the dumbest thing you can do. You will remove the metals tension memory and it will no longer work properly, good chance if you do this the part will shatter in the future.

    • @alanrouse7285
      @alanrouse7285 17 дней назад +1

      @@baltazard133T Never had a failure. Some people that do have a part fail overheated the part, that's why you heat it untill it's UNCOMFORTABLE to touch but not so hot to blister skin. Been doing this for 47 years.

    My method of (improvised) working on it would be looking how it's all linked to chassis and cab and what parts are carrying the weight of the cab to avoid any collapses and damaged components.
    I'd bet that the sway bar is part of the tilting mechanism and the cab could have went all sideways and whatnot causing all sorts of trouble. Lucky that didn't happen and it all went successful.
    Also, keep dust sensitive parts such as bearings and engine parts in their sealed bags until it's time for assembly, it's good practice to do so in order to keep any dust or contaminants away.

    Scania. Are the best trucks ever made. American trucks are like Playmobil trucks, big, bulky and not easy to maneuver. European trucks are easy to maneuver and very strong

    maybe reed the manual as that should have gone easier. put the bearings in the freezer for a few hours . heat the other end and it goes in easy(er)

      @Doubie. 18 дней назад +1

      @@J727MONEYbecause we don’t have strict length restrictions so having a long nose isn’t a problem because cabovers didn’t sell well they didn’t bother bringing Euro cabovers over
      Ironically ford still makes tractors there just cabovers for the euro market

    • @shaggings
      @shaggings 18 дней назад

      @@J727MONEY Cause you don't like cabovers. It seems that most American truckers think that European cabovers are the same dogshit ride quality that the ones made in the US had. Also the "America just is better, don't give europeans even a chance" closed mindedness.
