Personally I think both armoring videos are good. Each one representing how different culturally each chapter is. The ultramarines are very ceremonial and regal with their armoring. Meanwhile, the raptors simply arm themselves as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Holy shit man, this is at the same level as Astartes. The lighting, the smooth animation, everything is awesome. I really hope you have more in store, because as a wise senator once said "I will be watching your career with great interest."

I always thought that the Space Marine armor was just way too simple and undetailed to be anything but cartoonish. Seeing the inner workings and complexity of it here really sells that this is the 40th Milienum, and not just a bunch of plastic minis.
Thats what I felt as well back in the day, I thought they looked too much like buzz lightyear. But I understand how it can be difficult with the minis and not overloading them with detail. But then again, I'm not a Space Marine fan, I got into the series through the Imperial Guard and human point of view stories. I was fascinated with Dark Heresy and the Dan Abbot Novels.
Yeah. Though i do have one little complaint. The shoulder armor (pauldrons i think?) Would not need nearly as many or as complex connections. Its effectively just shaped metal. Like i saife though thats a small complaint for the detail this provides
@@timothycotner3492 They're Raptors. Those connectors could be for extra armament, sensors, jetpack or other mobility options not present in 'normal' Astartes Power Armor.
This was really well done, I love the way the receptors activated to receive the shoulder pad, also the animations showing him in his armour fighting must have taken hours but gave gravity to it's strength and the dangers that the Astartes face. Awesome
Compared to the "official" one, I'd say this version has a lot more 'meat' or mass to the armor. Which is what I would expect from a power suit which is both a tank and a fully-enclosed enviroment. Good job on animating this!
To be fair, the shoulders made more sense in the official one. You wouldn’t really be able to bend your arms in this version of the armor. I’m talking about the under pauldron, not the bigger one that goes over it.
Every chapter has its own armoring rituals, so who says this isn’t the way it can be done by one chapter. Love the starcraft inspiration. This was very well made
And most of those overly complicated armoring rituals are for the very first time an Astartes wear their armor; for the most cases, when time is of the essence, their armoring is more or less efficiently put.
@Ban this youtube The RPG 7's (and most other rocket propelled systems) initial charge is simply for pushing it beyond the operator so the rocket can fire without burning the person who fired it. So it does not need to be very strong. In addition the rocket is often below the speed of sound, anywhere from 100m/s to 300m/s. MANPADs can get to above the speed of sound. However the rocket motors and the fuel are much much bigger than the warhead itself if you want to reach those speeds. Furthermore, MANPADs start out subsonic whn initially launched but transition into supersonic. Bolters do not have a transition. The 40mm grenades meant for use in handheld applications, such as in the underbarrel grenade launchers, have much less powder to make firing them comfortable. Thus they are much lower velocity than a bolter would need to be. Even the 'high velocity' grenade rounds used for mounted grenade launchers are below the speed of sound and rely almost exclusively on their explosive charge and fragments to deal damage. Bolter rounds on the other hand are meant to pierce armour and flesh and have been described as being supersonic or hypersonic depending on the book (in universe it can be explained as simply different ammunition or even a different atmosphere). Even without the warhead it's meant to pierce through thick armour with only heavy vehicles and power armour being able to withstand the kinetic force of a bolter round. Additionally, if the powder was simply used as a booster charge to get the round away from the launcher and out of harms way, then the recoil would be relatively light. However it's been described as being enough to break an unaugmented human's arm.
Only thing that seems a little off/unnatural is movement physics of the marine, everything else though is fantastic! models are really detailed and the lighting really gives depth to al the scenes! You should get on the Astartes team... I really do hope they will hold up and actually release a film.
I agree, sometimes the movement felt a bit like stop motion when it should feel smooth. Not hating because everything else is pretty great. Just one thing the creator should work on moving forward.
@@randomfurrygirl548 I watched the video again now and I just realized that first comment is probably about marine movement without armor. For those who aren't aware: The "badass guy readying up" trope has been around LONG before Starcraft 2. This was exceptional, and was beautiful to watch so much assembly/attention to detail
yes the "badass guy readying up" trope has been around awhile, but the complain is that its basically ripped shot for shot of the cinematic, which the animation is still beautiful but i wish he ventured away from the rip off of the cinematic and did it more involved with Techpriests handling the armor more
@@davidj3841 sort of, you could make an argument about it being a rip off in terms of likeness, but with this animation there is direct rip off scenes from the Starcraft 2 Cinematic
@@davidj3841 its not though, you can see direct scenes ripped from the Starcraft 2 cinematic in this animation while the Iron Man suit up scene has no direct scene rip offs, it has the likeness but no direct ripped scenes, its some inspired but really its like someone copied some homework and changed a few answers to not look like he was cheating, this guy has talent but genuinely wish he went a different direction besides just ripping off scenes from a cinematic
It makes sense when you consider the source material - early Warhammer minis were designed according to the limitations of creating minis at the time. Today, even for models, it makes sense that their designs is a bit more according to actual human proportions.

With all the high tech and weird machines putting on the armor the old school wax press of the prayer seal was a great touch...very 40K
Game workshop asked for licence of Lotr ( Lord of the rings ) they wanted to make board game out of it - did not get it, so they made Warhammer , then Blizzard asked for licence of Warhammer , they wanted to make video game out of it - did not get it, so they made Warcraft and Starcraft , then BioWare asked for licence of Starcraft , they want it to make 3d person shooter out of it and guess what they did not get it , so they made Mass Effect !!! The Raptors are a very pragmatic, calculating, no-nonsense chapter - opposite side of the spectrum from the Black Templars, if the Ultramarines are in the middle. They'll also paint that armor olive drab or whichever other color that's actually stealthy when it's important.

Well I learn something new everyday I guess
@Абдульзефир the subject in question is not if animated Ironman series were released before SC2, but exactly this armor gearing animation, which first came in in SC2 trailer, not Ironman animated series.

Ah yes, the Reasonable Marines.

@@timothycotner3492 It is probably apart of the Black Carapace and has redundant connections and processors for helping control the arms and hands.

Fuckin love it. Only thing is i wish the bolter sounded a little meatier
Agreed. Bolter sounds like it has a silencer
@@spencercarter8150 We don't see enough stalker bolter action, that'd be cool to see.
Agree, felt like the bolter was firing .223 instead of a .75 cal mini rocket
@Ban this youtube Well not quite, bolter shells have an initial charge unlike a gyrojet.

For those who aren't aware: The "badass guy readying up" trope has been around LONG before Starcraft 2. This was exceptional, and was beautiful to watch so much assembly/attention to detail

I really appreciate how well proportioned the armor is. It doesnt have the cartoonishly large pauldrons and boots that some licensed art has.
The Bolt Rifle too. Most aesthetically pleasing Bolter I've seen
It makes sense when you consider the source material - early Warhammer minis were designed according to the limitations of creating minis at the time. Today, even for models, it makes sense that their designs is a bit more according to actual human proportions.
