Wow. I just came across this video right before this place closes down. For anyone who comes across this video, Dart Bowl is closing down along with the cafe as of Friday night 7/17/2020. It sucks to see this go because there was really good food here as well as the enchiladas. You will be missed Dart Bowl.
Seeing the date, it must have been the pandemic and rising property taxes. That ruined many places. Does that restaurant exist somewhere else?

I grew up in northwest Austin, but haven't lived in the city since 1988. Dart Bowl was a dingy old bowling alley built in the 1950's on the corner of Burnet Rd. and Anderson Lane when I was growing up.I'm a chef by trade and these enchiladas look seriously good! I plan to make a stop at this place while I'm there! Tex Mex food in Alaska sucks except for a few places.I heard Boyhood was filmed here, even though the bowling alley takes place in Houston.

k. Reality check. I grew up in southern New Mexico. Born and raised 26 miles from the Mexican border. I lived in Austin for 2 years. Having the best enchiladas in Austin... NOT impressive. When you order enchiladas in this part of Texas, you're very likely to get a flour tortilla with Velveeta and Hormel hotdog chili on it (true story.) This is the part of Texas where the newspapers used to be in German. In all fairness, the chicken fried steak was probably excellent.

I'll bet anything that those enchiladas are actually processed American cheese blocks that have been shredded and canned chili that has been doctored up. I don't see how else you could make chili that looks like that if it's made from scratch
