A possible reasoning for why Topher Grace only came back for the pilot likely has to do with the fact that he was very possibly filming the currently airing season of "Home Economics" (an ABC comedy he stars in) at the same time. Also fun fact, Laura Prepon (Donna) directed the last 2 episodes.
When Fenton showed up. My childhood was complete. I LOVED that he came back it made the whole first season for me. First it was the original cast showing up. Then Leo and now Fenton. I love they still gave us fans of that 70s show the characters we love without shoving them in our face or changing them to much!
before this season i wasn't sure, BUT MAN... i need a season 2 right away! i fell in love with these characters charm like that 70s show, along with the little sprinkles of nostalgia throughout
I think it works as the tales of the Foreman residence and the teens that pass through it. The style and location are what makes it feel like a continuation. Hopefully we will get a nice run of seasons from it and it will pass again, maybe continuing years later with Eric and Donna moving back after inheriting the house and have Leia's kids over.
Nah yeah man I totally agree with Hyde possibly being Gwens trucker dad. It would make so much sense and it would be a perfect place to put the character as they don’t wanna mention him much, if at all. I think if that’s the case, with her being his daughter, I feel like they were definitely testing the waters with all of it and maybe if there’s a season 2 they could give a name drop and that’s it. That would be enough. They’re playing it super safe by not really mentioning Hyde, Laurie, or Midge.
Hyde was my guess at Gwen's dad as well after I remembered he is half black. I guessed Kelso as the other dad and would explain why he and Jay act so alike. (or I guess act like Michael) I know why they aren't putting Hyde in it, but it still makes me sad since he was one of the best characters. But seeing him and Ashton basically act the same in The Ranch helped a bit. The other 2 died so I don't know why they couldn't at least mention them.
I had so much fun with this season. I was really nervous about That '90s Show going in, but I had such a good time with it. Seeing Fenton again was hilarious. My sister hasn't seen the later seasons of That '70s Show so she didn't know who Fenton even was, but she knew who Jim Rash is because she is a huge fan of Community. Like you anytime I hear Kids in America I think about Digimon: The Movie because that music video is at the end of the VHS release of the movie. Though I don't know if it's also on the DVD or not. Anyways, That '90s Show was great and I really hope it gets another season.
Topher as he likes to say in interviews, he has a day job is on a show called Home Economics. Probably got all they could've and why we saw him so much in Pilot. Hopefully in s2, get more commitments and the OG cast more and together in scenes. And seems there will likely be tension b/w him/Kelso/Jackie. I figured they weren't gonna mention Hyde at all and leave it ambigious.
I hope they continue on! I liked it so much and I hope they don’t sugarcoat jokes and go woke! That 70s show did a lot and it was funny and relatable! The guys going to the erotic theater, Fez listening to Jackie and Michael’s phone conversation, Donna and Eric teenage hormones. Haha Michael cheating on Jackie over and over! It was so good!
This show made me realize how much I miss my original group of friends, I tear up every time i watch this episode. That 90's Show is already one of 2023 best!
Loved waking up to these reactions, I have very similar thoughts as you as far as how the new kids played their roles. It could have been a LOT worse but I have fun watching, and that’s all I wanted. Thanks again
I love this to! My childhood was exactly like that 70's show, except we had pool table, shuffle table, foozeball table and juke box.and being my dad worked for coke a cola we had a pop machine. And my brother played drums so there was instruments all over all the time. My parents were the best to. He took us to get kegs for parties. Got him to play quarters with us. The best time and good friends. But this show seems like the actors are getting into there comfort zone with each other. Love it so much.but teenagers are a bit dorky which makes it funnier
Having her with Jay first and then kinda making her the cheater in a sense she is innocent as all get out it doesn't fit right. I'd understand if Jay actually cheated but I don't just feels out if place. She just has better chemistry with Jay.
It's normal for childhood friends to drift apart when they grow up, but they should have provided an explanation on what happened to Hyde. Not only was he Eric's best friend, he also lived with Eric's family.
This is the issue: if they wanted to do this with Nate, making Jay this much LESS of a Kelso...kinda is what makes this better written than it otherwise could be, but damn them for it.
Loved your reactions to the series! I hope we get a season 2. people critiquing saying the show was TOO cringy seem to forget that 70s show was also very cringy
The show does have the potential to continue. I genuinely enjoyed it. Nostalgia is so strong with this one for those who grew up watching that 70s show. Definitely a lot better than that 80s show. I just felt like it was just too rushed with season one with only 10 episodes. If it does come back for season two it has to have more episodes. It just depends on Netflix of whether or not they do. The cast hopefully they observe the acting, and will develop as they continue. Remember, these teens are actual teens and this is their first real break so we gotta give them time just like we did with the original cast in that 70s show.
I loved the show. It was quirky and cheesy and just reminded me a lot of the old show. That curveball at the end is enough to make me want a season 2, right now. Hopefully we'll have a season 2 sooner rather than later. Loved your reactions!
You will forever have me as a sub just for referencing the Digimon movie. I thought the exact same thing. Several songs do that actually. That soundtrack was great!
I want to see a season 2! Also I ship Leia with Gwen, they have way more chemistry & they could easily set it up down the line. The first person she saw was her & the last photo on her camera was with her. 💕
Ok but the Nate thing is obviously rebound, and also, I was thinking, S1 is 1995 and S2 is confirmed so that means if God willing it gets to at least season 4, S4 would be set in 1998, the year the original started airing! And I’d love to see the Titanicmania and the late 90s and Y2K and stuff! Loved your series though! Good one man! Have a good one!
I have to admit, at the end of season 1, I felt the same as Ozzie. Can't wait for season 2. As to the question of Hyde, I think the series left an opening for Hyde to be Gwen's father. She has the same additude, plus a truck driver would fit Hyde. It would get him out of Point Place plus we found out his father was played by Tim Reid which would answer the race question. Love your reactions to this show since you relate to the new group of kids while I relate to their parents and Red and Kitty are like my parents.
It was nice to see the Fez and Fenton rivalry again and I don't like the Leia almost kiss situation but I still wanna season 2 because it's gonna be chaos and I love it!!!
Back then, Topher was not really interested in the show anymore and was trying to get his feet wet in film, this time around he mentioned he only could do the one episode on a count of his other show.
I think Nate & Leia make the most sense together to me. Like Jay just feels like that first love or like a pit stop to finding the person she's most compatible with ya know? But that is just me, did it come out of nowhere yes.
I'm not sure I agree. I like nate a lot and I don't love him with Nikki but Idk if I see him and Leia together but it would absolutely fit the Donna Eric theme
Nate and Leia does not make any sense. It was completely random and unnecessary. Like he’s willing to cheat on Nikki on someone he’s known for only a couple weeks? They barely interacted!!
That near kiss between Nate and Leia makes no sense. It would have made way more sense if it had been Nate walking in on Gwen and Leia. The awkward water tower conversation makes more sense this way.
To be honest I felt like Topher Grace didn't really like his time on That 70's show/That 90's show and basically thought he was less popular than the rest of the cast
I think Topher Grace has his own show... like going to third season or something. But if Season 2 happens and they put, at least, Fez as a regular with the neighboor and have at least more episodes with Jackie, Kelson and Jay... That would be enough to regain the formula. Topher and Laura could just do special episodes per season. But Fez needs to be a regular... he does great comedy with the Forman family and can do what Bob did in the last series.
I don't get Gwen's reactions to stuff they don't make an sense at all. She lost her crap when Leia went off with Jay instead of going with her to the country club but when she sees Leia almost kiss her bro she was like no biggie you didn't actually kiss him. You'd think these reactions would be backwards. Plus I think if Gwen didn't show up Nate and Leia would have kissed for real.
Oh man and i wsnt so bad jay/leia stay together like eric and donna they remind me a relationshio when i was young, i hope nate and leia dont go that path he have a girlfriend and shes her friend...cmon 😔
Not digimon, CLUELESS. Clueless was WAY popular in the 90's. Ok, so you didn't get the Clueless ref, Blind Melon bee girl, Sally Jesse Raphael, or 90210? How old WERE you during this decade?
They tapped into the 70's show mojo - I think this show will be a success - great character development and great writing and a bit of nepotism makes this show really enjoyable
Imma be honest, I absolutely need a season 2
Pretty sure they set this series up to have 4 seasons since they are fifteen.
If they do season 2 they need at least 15 episodes
Yes!!!! Netflix make it happen!!!!
Yeah, me too. I wanna see what happens next with the whole gang. Wish, the old cast have recurring scenes in second season.
Season 2 just announced! Let's go
A possible reasoning for why Topher Grace only came back for the pilot likely has to do with the fact that he was very possibly filming the currently airing season of "Home Economics" (an ABC comedy he stars in) at the same time.
Also fun fact, Laura Prepon (Donna) directed the last 2 episodes.
Gwen’s whole thought process near the end of episode: We don’t have any time for a crazy love rectangle just save it for the next season.
"This show ain't free" line was not a call back I was expecting lol
I need a season 2. Fenton and Fez are hilarious together.
" I thsaid good day" lmfao!
Fenton showing up, omg I loved it. Their spats are hilarious
Really hope it gets another Season with more episodes...
should be 20 eps, drop it in 2 parts like a month apart
When Fenton showed up. My childhood was complete. I LOVED that he came back it made the whole first season for me. First it was the original cast showing up. Then Leo and now Fenton. I love they still gave us fans of that 70s show the characters we love without shoving them in our face or changing them to much!
The Fenton appearance was so unexpected, it was incredible 😂 loved this season, fingers crossed for another one!
before this season i wasn't sure, BUT MAN... i need a season 2 right away! i fell in love with these characters charm like that 70s show, along with the little sprinkles of nostalgia throughout
S2 was just confirmed!!!!!
This show really works as a full continuation of the original, there has to be more to come.
Dude, your face said it all!! 😂😂😂😂 I didn't even see it when they started talking. 😄
Nah yeah man I totally agree with Hyde possibly being Gwens trucker dad. The show definitely gets better as the season goes on. Definitely want a season 2
3:00 OK, so, it's official; Callie Haverda is an actress to keep an eye on. She's going to be comedy gold in time, I wager
And Season 2 confirmed!!! by Netflix on social media, I've seen the 10 episodes at least 3 times now.
Topher as he likes to say in interviews, he has a day job is on a show called Home Economics. Probably got all they could've and why we saw him so much in Pilot. That's one of things that makes rewatching the original that much harder the older I get! haha I just get depressed lol
Loved waking up to these reactions, I have very similar thoughts as you as far as how the new kids played their roles. It could have been a LOT worse but I have fun watching, and that’s all I wanted. Thanks again
They NEED a bunch more seasons!!!

The way i fucking SCREAMED when Jim Rash walked in😍
10 episodes is not enough. I really hope that this show gets a Season 2 and more episodes. The nostalgia and storyline is so deep.
Honestly Nate and Leia kinda sorta seem great together..lol, as soon as it happened it was like "Huh, that makes sense."
It literally makes NO SENSE.
Having her with Jay first and then kinda making her the cheater in a sense she is innocent as all get out it doesn't fit right. I'd understand if Jay actually cheated but I don't just feels out if place. She just has better chemistry with Jay.

Like if he was as crappy and as self serving as his dad was I wouldn't mind the love triangle but I feel bad for him.
i neeeeed more seasons of that 90's show
Calling it now you’re gonna lose your shit when Fez’s arch nemesis makes an appearance 😂🤟🏽
Fenton!! 😅😅😆😆
This was the most unexpected cameo and I loved it so much
The kelso buuuurrrrrnnnn. Yesssss
That song at the end while Donna was driving Leah back to Chicago was used in the beginning of The 95 Summer Hit Clueless
I need a season 2 and when I hear kids in America I think of the jimmy neutron movie
Just the way Donna says Kelso hit me more then Fenton showing up.
Loved your reactions to the series! I hope we get a season 2.

Sure some of the dialogue is cringe, but I found myself chuckling or laughing more than I thought I would. I'm pleasantly surprised tbh!
I love how Donna didn't rat out the kids. 😁

Bring on Season 2. Also, what's a sitcom without a little love triangle action, you gotta shake up the dynamics in some way.
You will forever have me as a sub just for referencing the Digimon movie. I thought the exact same thing. Several songs do that actually. That soundtrack was great!
The love triangle in the last episode reminded me somewhat of the og live triangle between Eric, Donna, and Hyde in their first season.
SEASON 2 CONFIRMED BABY LESS GOOO
i feel like they will do so much better with a season 2
Dude, I love the Miyagi-do shirt! Must have one!
I am so excited for season 2!!! and I see it drops on my bday next year Feb 3rd!!!
I read Gwen's Truck-driver dad "could" be Hyde's daughter, making Eric's best friend Hyde's daughter being Eric's daughter's best friend.
I've enjoyed your reactions. When I saw this I thought some how Leia would end up staying in Point Place
Season 2 is already approved by Netflix.
There has to be a season 2

Topher is on another show as a series regular and scheduling didn't allow it
I’m really hoping they get a season 2
I really enjoyed this. I agree on hoping it gets at least another season.
I think in a interview topher said he was busy with anther show Home Economic so he could only do one episode
Was that new footage of that 70's gang? I thought it was clips from the original series.
i had the exact same thought about Gwen's dad but then would we never see him?
Topher Grace is still actively filming another show.
I think Nate & Leia make the most sense together to me. Like Jay just feels like that first love or like a pit stop to finding the person she's most compatible with ya know? But that is just me, did it come out of nowhere yes.

I said it before but 10 episodes is way to short. I hope Netflix won't cancel this show
yea 10 episodes for a sitcom is way to short of a season, they need atleast 16
