Was travelling between Nizamabad and Basar last month and had the opportunity of seeing a 20 or so herd of these majestic black bucks from the train. The forest department should try as much as possible to revive the population of these animals in the district.
I am from Bidar, Karnataka.. It's been a 3 years or so..the Black Bucks were restricted only to a protected forest area.. Now I could see them all around my farm land (it's almost 30km distance between the forest and my agricultural land)..

Black bucks habitat spreads to Pakistan as well. Incidentally, there are estimated to be more Black bucks in the US state of Texas alone, than while of South Asia. Although the Black bucks are native to South Asia, and the US had imported some many decades ago. We need to ask how a species is endangered in its native territory, while thriving in a foreign habitat.
If animals had the right to vote, then they would have survived in this gruesome world. Like how politicians are running behind minorities, animals would have got some reservations and would have escaped the extinction.
Black buck population is ever increasing in other parts of AP especially in the plain lands between AP and Karnataka. This report is painting an unwarranted gloomy picture.
