Searching for the perfect camera is a quest. Quests make the best literature and movies. Why search for the golden orb? Does anyone really need a golden orb? It's the search that is exciting, not the find. Your search for the perfect camera is a journey we are all participating in. We learn life's lessons along the way.
I have had several perfect cameras over the years. Perfection is the right camera for the right job, for the right person. Lots of cameras fit that description. They might not be perfect for anyone else, and their perfect camera may not be perfect for me. I do not understand a search for an elusive and dreamlike imagined perfection in which a camera does everything. Like any dream, that kind of perfection vanishes the moment your eyes open.

For as long as most people view content on small screens, even resolution doesn't really matter much. 1080p is still enough for viewing on a small screen.
Exactly. 65% of people watch RUclips on their phone. Less than 4% watch in 4k. It's so wild to me when I hear camera content creators are recording in bit rates higher than 50 MB/s (Casey says in this video he's receiving at 240) when RUclips is going to compress all that bitrate down to 30 MB/s for 4k or 12 MB/s for 1080p (that 96% of people watch). It's a complete waste of storage space and increases workflow times for placebo quality.
I once heard a small vlogging channel with less than 2k subscribers say they hate the g9ii because it overheats when they record at 600 MB/s bitrate lol.

It would be great if Davinci Resolve has native support for Sony gyro stabilization (catalyst browse) or at least it there is a Sony plugin for DR. It would stabilise only your cuts, not 2h or boring footage you have to cut later.
For me, I’m still looking for my perfect camera. I really enjoy learning to color grade and I want to have the privilege to work with 10bit 4:2:2. So what do you recommend?

A camera doesn’t need to be perfect. As long as it meets the requirements for the specific types of shoots, it’s more than enough. Problem is we nowadays expect a hammer to do the job of an axe.
This channel should be called "Camera Lens Fever" because now I feel like I have to buy a ton of lenses I don't need and to get another system that I really don't need.

As the saying goes, if you want it done right, you’ll have to do it yourself. So...if you want the "perfect" camera just start your own company, design it and build it, maybe do a kickstarter thing or something similar, and start getting that perfect camera out in the world. Bring back the G85… I have a lot of expensive cameras and cinema cameras, but expensive gear is boring… do great things with a great expensive camera is not challenging, is not fun is just obviously what is supposed to happen. But the G85 times where the best. We miss the David vs Goliat sensation in each episode.
I feel like he slept on the g9. It’s got 10 bit, great stabe and they even gave it a decent firmware update with better AF. I’d love more g85 and g9 content!
I agree. Getting a decent photo out of the G85 was challenging. Erase that. Darn near impossible.
@@rich3419one of the best photos I ever took was with a g85 and the 14mm 2.5. A beautiful mountain landscape shot in Salzburg. I printed it at 20x30 and it's up on the wall in my living room. I get 100s of compliments on it.

Yeah, just get an R3. Amazing video, stills, DR, AF, stacked sensor, battery, not too heavy, feels great doing hand held. You can use EF lenses and CPS is a nice bonus.
I don't watch your videos for the gear. I enjoy the comparisons of lenses I likely will never own, though. I watch for the fun.
Sry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 10-bit codec in catalyst browse is a lie. It’s just a 10-bit container for footage that has been converted to 8-bit. To keep your 10-bit color information, Sony makes you upgrade to Catalyst prepare. That being said, if you shoot in Rec. 709 10-bit (I do), no one is going to be able to see the difference.
Interesting. Well it does look better at least. Before doing this it was a noticeable drop in image quality, and the MBPS is higher.

We have reached a pinnacle with DJI Action 4, Canon R5, Sony A7RIV, Nikon Z9 - we don't need 102,000 ISO, we don't need 60 FPS with unlimited buffers, at this point we just need more of "smartphone" experience in the camera world, meaning that I just want an Android phone paired to a good full frame lens, Xiaomi 14 Ultra is getting closer to what 99% of enthusiasts need than all other others combined.

A lot of camera shops and many gear channels encourage the one system to fit all approach but it's not realistic, there's either too many compromises or too much expense. Everything you said makes sense...should we all worry now?
I think if you go to the extremes - the CB will not hold up as well to grading. At least that's what I saw in my testing. (like the demon lut, etc)

Please help me understand why I feel the need to buy more camera gear, why I am addicted to this channel over boring reviewers with no 3d-pop, and I need your advice... I am about to travel through Europe, shooting content for a new channel, and really need a good travel action camera. I'm hesitant on the Pocket 3, I don't really need it for "ACTION" video, but having it as a 3rd and quick camera option would be nice. I am also taking an A7C II for pictures and a ZV-E1 to capture planned moments and to continue making my talking head vids for my main channel. The action camera would just be to supplement the other two. Don't give me ten suggestions, just tell me the PERFECT ONE I need... and do it NOW, please! I did say please! :)
The a7IV has existed for a long time but apparently having a crop on slow motion is a deal breaker despite the fact that most times slow motion footage is punched in to begin with. But hey, whatever

I think that (until someone comes up with something as innovative as the Pocket 3) that the other companies are just stuck wondering what to come up with next, whether little cameras or full-frame.
Adapt the E mount stuff to Z mount, everything can be shared
Just give me a gh5 with a full frame sensor that has canons dual pixel autofocus and a five inch fully articulating touchscreen that detaches and taps to focus and follows me where ever i go just dooo it;)
