    Just rigidity matrix detection :)
    If the robot touch a very elastic and relatively low rigidity thing, then it will set to "zero impedance" mode.
    An other: Virtual spring mode.
    Not magic, not fake. :)
    6axis F/T sensor (+ maybe additional torque sensors in each joints. + transformation matrix)

    it uses a map for the environment I guess, it appears when the person moved it to another place and the robot continues the work and get to the right place.
    interesting. ))
