MY DUDE. This takes me back to teaching in Brevard, NC…there was a BBQ joint I’d always, always go to because it was so dang good, and this sauce almost nailed the exact taste! I think next time I’ll cut the sweet elements in half so it’s more vinegar-y and less honey mustard with a kick, but this is damn good. I can’t even share it with my friends, because I kicked the whisk and spatula so often making it. Pork shoulder in the slow cooker for 8 hours + this sauce + some slaw or German summer salad? Turn down your bed before you start eating, you’ll need a safe space for when the food coma hits.
Yeah, man! Thanks for sharing. I know, I LOVE this stuff. Every time I serve it, someone wants the recipe. Hard to beat. I love the story. Awesome. I'm not far from Brevard.
Excellent sauce for sure. I used to work at a hotel and one of our chefs made his version of what he called carolina gold sauce. His was very similar to the one you shared in this video. We did it with a combination of yellow, whole grain and dijon mustard. We served it on our smoked brisket sandwichs. Very very good with smoked pork shoulder and pork butt. Thank you sharing and reminding me of this great sauce. Much appreciated.
I live for BBQ and make my own sauce. I need the flavor of smoke in mine so the only tweak I do for the all is the addition of Wright's Liquid Hickory smoke..
I put it this sauce together with some hesitancy. So much honey. But, in the end it deserved the lip smakin' seal of approval. Tangy, sweet, and most of all....ROBUST! BRAVO!
I’m from Charleston, SC and this bbq sauce is so close to Roberts Drive inn or Maurices sauce!!! So delicious!!! I’m going to can this up so I can have a years worth of sauce. THANK YOU!!!
Made this recently. Stunningly delicious. Now I have to make some for myself and friends. Gave the first batch to family. Thank you so much for this excellent recipe.
I recently found your channel and I'm really excited to try these recipes out!! I love how you educate and don't force the exact measurements/ingredients on anyone. You're definitely an excellent teacher so keep up the enthusiasm. Love what you're doing!!
Definitely great on pork, particularly pulled pork and loin. It's also good with veggies. Takes more like a slightly sweet mustard sauce (though you can adjust the sweetness).
Stumbling through RUclips at 3am while I wait for my hamburger to thaw and now my hamburger is being ignored as I make mustard and chili sauce lmao good stuff man. Really enjoy the way you present the information.
Oh my mouth is watering! Do you have any jalapeno snack recipes (just the jalapeno sliced up) with added spices to keep it as close to 0 Cals, 0 carbs as possible? I'm on a special diet preparing for serious back surgery so would love an easy snack that won't cost me in my diet. Heading back to watch more of your videos! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Buddy! You might try these Taqueria Style Pickled Jalapenos and Carrots. Great snack and low carb. Take a look and let me know what you think. Good luck with the back surgery! www.chilipeppermadness.com/recipes/pickled-jalapenos-and-carrots/
Coming from TEXAS... We usually don’t make our sauce with mustard base... But I’m gonna give it a heck of a try!!!! Looks very good and super easy... I can let it simmer for 30 min to 1 hour to make it thicker too?
Great video! I make a similar recipe to this everytime I make pulled pork. I was a big KC bbq sauce fan, and still am, but the mustard base is almost addictive. Especially in pork. The vinegar based sauces are the ones that I don't like.
I’ve been using vinegar Carolina sauce for ever and saw this on a Rodney Scott RUclips video and I will be trying it today. I have a 8# butt on so looking forward to something a little new tonight
Well I made it exactly the way you laid out and this will be my pulled pork sauce from here on out. It was delicious. The whole family liked it, they usually use a store bought cause they are not fans of the Carolina vinegar. So just wanted to say thank you sir DELICIOUS

Made this tonight since I’m smoking a pork butt tomorrow. The sauce tastes delicious but it’s almost too sweet for my liking. I’d probably skip the honey next time but other than that it’s delicious!
Yes, definitely some sweetness factor here. You can always make another batch without honey and combine them, or just skip for the next batch, as you mentioned. Pretty easy to make it your own. Enjoy the pork!
@@ChiliPepperMadness Ha! Thanks . I love it too and miss it terribly. Back in the day I would eat myself sick with pulled pork with the vinegar BBQ, Coleslaw and hushpuppies. Cant wait for the chance to get back to New Bern and grab myself a plate of gold.

This sauce slaps. Always wanted to make a mustard sauce, today is the day and it didn't disappoint.

I live in the lowcountry of South Carolina and we love mustard base sauce. I always have at least two bottles in my fridge.
It is so good. I could just drink it. Thanks for commenting.

I tested your recipes with habanero, and all my barbecue guests, they don't have any left so they loved this sauce. It's a real success, thank you
Great to hear! Glad you enjoyed them! I appreciate it.
Pro tip do this in a pot, the recipe is awesome. Simmer for 10 minutes. A lot of these sauces can be canned and made shelf stable.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Paired this with smoked pulled pork tonight. Everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

What do you eat this with? Pork, but what else? It looks great, I just don't know what it goes with. Does it taste like honey mustard?

i wasnt sure when i first started making it but after it simmered and cooled it tastes awesome!!

Mustard base barbecue sauces actually work quite well with rabbit!!! 🤠👍
I've never had grilled rabbit I'm not against it but I've never tried it I've had it in the stew once and deep fried

Also called Alabama Mustard Sauce
Have you tried using English mustard?
We specifically use yellow mustard, but if you try with English mustard come back and let us know how it goes!
What if one replaced the mustard with mayonnaise?
That would be an interesting experiment! It would be like the Alabama white sauce recipe.
Always use that silicone spatula to make sure you get ALL of those ingredients
