One thing I did respect about Charlotte was her approach in dealing with men she knew she saw marriage potential in and men she knew were just around for a good time. She wasn’t just a delusional hopeless romantic and knew when it was time to put a man in a certain category. She also knew despite her conservatism that as a woman she had the liberty to do so
Charlotte is my favorite character as I get older! She had genuinely the most growth and she was always able to pivot and takes life punches with grace! #TeamCharlotte
"If you're living paycheck to paycheck, how TF are you gonna be thinking about 'how are we going to split our assets'? -- What assets? THE RICE?" this quote got me dead lmao you are too real sometimes
Pre nups are not just for rich people, it can also be to lay out money that will be protected for the wife in the event she becomes a stay at home mom (setting up an account in her name and laying out what assets should be in her name after childbirth and parental work). It can be planning for future assets, even if you currently don't have much, lol
Regarding the prenup - my husband and I are very much a middle-class pair. We didn't get a prenup exactly; however, we did get something like a notarized "division of assets/separate income" agreement. People often think about it in terms of divorce - I didn't at all. I just felt like it could protect us both since, in my country, individually taken debt, for example, would not affect the other person legally at all. I have my own business, and it just made sense. We have separate accounts but very much support each other financially. To each their own; I know some people hate the idea itself! Love your videos! x
To be honest, I am glad Charlotte found Trey because if it weren’t for their divorce, she wouldn’t have found her true Mr. Right, Harry. I still love her relationship with Harry and Charlotte is my favorite character.
The fact Charlotte changed religion for Harry haunts me to this day( There's something very wrong about it. And it's not the religion itself, it's this.. compliance that Charlotte so willingly demonstrates. Also Harry doesn't even practice the religion that forbids him from marrying outside of it.
@ true and when I say this, this is me stating an example of what you just said, not me hating on Harry. I forget the name of the holiday and meal (my ignorance. Sorry), but Charlotte put a lot of time and effort in it and Harry didn’t care. He just wanted to watch the game. So if he did care about his religion and practices, he would have paid attention to Charlotte and appreciated her effort. But one moment that made this up for me was when he didn’t judge Charlotte for having a Christmas tree and wanting some of her traditions. But whether we practice a religion or not, stuff like feeling you can’t marry someone comes from familial pressure and you don’t want to do something that makes you shunned from your family so I wonder if that is where Harry is coming from. But I can’t hate on Charlotte for converting because she put time and thought into it and did try to respect the culture and religion she was converting into. But do understand your point.
@@oneshotonehit6731 Ehhh. I don’t think Charlotte is shown to be particularly devout or religious. She celebrates Christmas, but so do most secular/non-religious people in America. I see it as more a compromise she made to be with him, because she loves him. As another person said, Harry isn’t particularly devout either, so I don’t think he expected her to ‘convert’ much more than in name. Her going out of her way to go above and beyond is more a demonstration of Charlotte’s character than Harry’s (and mismatched expectations + miscommunication). Some people might not be willing to compromise on religion, but, for two people who aren’t particularly devout, it likely wouldn’t be as big of a deal.
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 Yeah, to me, it seemed like the familial obligation- given that he made that promise to his dead mother (grandmother?) and feels like he can’t change it- was more important than the actual religion. I saw the episode about Charlotte going above and beyond for a Jewish holiday more as a reflection of Charlotte’s tendency to over-plan big events (see Miranda’s baby shower) and miscommunication around how important the holiday actually was to Harry. Harry should’ve clarified his expectations, as well (like did he actually expect her to get rid of all her Christmas stuff? it didn’t seem like he did). Mismatched expectations is a pretty common issue in relationships, tbh.
Trey is my favorite partner out of all of the guys in the show. Except for the fact that he’s basically married to his mom. 😷he learns how to stand up to her in the end tho and always protects and defends charlotte. Ya he’s a p addict but he was willing to quit just for her. He matures a lot and very generous and organized. He’s always been very transparent, honest, and genuine throughout.
He’s not my favorite, but I agree. He’s open to learning about his partner and trying his best. Ultimately their breakup was pretty amicable (and for a totally understandable reason) and he tried to give Charlotte a fair break in the divorce.
I always tear up at the moment where Charlotte stands up and sees Trey for the first time, with that beautiful classical music in the background. Mostly because I'm also a romantic, but also 'cause I know how this story will unfold 😢
In my opinion, Charlotte asked Trey to marry her simply because she was expecting to hear the proposal, but as it didn't come out of Trey's mouth, she felt compelled to say it just so she could hear it. She physically couldn't hold her breath anymore in that very moment. Also, this was building up in her mind because she thought Trey was very much suggestible.
I hope you do a video on Harry next. Harry is my favorite of all the ‘boyfriend’ characters. He’s legit the only good guy in the show… despite some weird habits. Great video! Love your content.
“what assets? the rice!?” i’m screaminggg 😭 thank you for another entertaining & enlightening video queen. i’m loving all the analysis videos but my for sure favorite is carrie. all her decisions hurt my brain too much to wanna psycho analyze her in depth my first time watching lolol
For me Trey is everything in the shopping window but nothing inside of the shop 😂😂😂 The worst he was about the baby theme. That was sooo insensitive thing and cruel and not funny at all. Also he's the worst example of a mama's boy. The scene of him in the bathroom with his mother still haunts me 😮
18:08 Trey admitted he didn’t want to be married to anyone but still got married to the right person, a special person in his own words. So Miranda’s theory doesn’t apply to charlotte
Charlotte’s proposal story perfectly exemplifies everything that’s wrong with cultural norms around marriage proposals. It’s insane that proposals are supposed to be a surprise initiated and executed by the man. You are becoming a legal family unit-both parties should discuss whether this is something they want, their expectations, and their timeline before anyone buys a ring or air time on a Jumbotron. It seems totally reasonable for Charlotte to bring up marriage, and the way she said it “maybe we should get married” really should have been a conversation opener, not the start and end of it.
It's you. YOU are my favorite! Lol but seriously, your videos bring me so much joy and much needed laughter (even as I learn how warped and F'd up my brain has been for like 15+ years is because of satc)!
ahh just found out you're from Slovenia. Greetings from Serbia, I've been following your channel for a long time. We say it the same in Serbian btw 😄 - otkriti toplu vodu 😅
43:38 im working class and i will 10000% have a prenump. I do have my own home im paying for, and my own salon. But i want it for things such as aquiring inheritances and family items. And also just having protection from vindictive attacks. Divorce is a very realistic thing to happen and ive worked too hard on my salon for 4 years, and if i got married in the next two years, and then in 10 my salon is so successful and my partner leaves me and gets HALF of my 16 years of hard work? Nah bisshhh i support people protecting themselves. You never truly know someone until you break up with them. Js
I think you’re right about people deciding for Trey and that has caused him to listen to others more. Because he said himself he was raised by his nanny, and his mother was barely home except at night when she drew him a bath. And nannies are very much like teachers telling kids what to do, what is right etc.
When it comes to prenups I can see it from both perspectives. I can understand why someone with money would want their partner to sign one, and I can see why someone might find being asked to sign a prenup offensive. However, I look at it as, if you’re not going to try to take all the money in the event of divorce, or don’t plan on her relationship even ending in divorce, why not just sign one? I think the problem with prenups is that one person usually dictates the conditions of the prenup. What I would say to my partner if a prenup had to be signed is that while I’m not opposed to a prenup, I will also have a say as to what goes in it; the decision will not be made unilaterally. So ultimately, I think if both parties have a say and can come to a mutual agreement, I don’t see a problem with it.
I’m so curious about Slovenia. Because it’s one of those countries I think most of the world don’t think about and a lot don’t even really know about (maybe except heard the name once or twice.) could you ever share some things about Slovenian culture? Greetings from Sweden (but I’m from Greece)
Honestly, if not for Bunny being so overbearing, Trey really would have been perfect. Even when he had ED there were actually able to work through it and get to a good point. Trey actually really valued Charlotte and wanted to see her happy on every level. ETA: that baby nursery thing was messed up tho, like what even was that lol
Prenups are for everyone. However, $500k-$1M is nothing for those people after 30 years. The prenup was designed to favor Trey's family. With those terms, I was surprised that Charlotte got the apartment even though she made out with Trey's family's gardener in front of him and his family. Sure, she could have gotten to know Trey more before they got married, but their story passed. I was glad Charlotte ended her marriage to find someone better for her.
8:15 I think the wife knew, she was the one who pushed her husband to introduce his friend to Charlotte. Something about how she said it, pointedly, makes me think she knew her husband might have had a crush as they were long time (college?) friends. If I were Charlotte, I wouldn’t have said anything either. How close was she to the couple, to the wife. If the husband is willing to cheat with Charlotte then chances are, he’d do it with anyone else. It’s like when Carrie went to the Hampton to visit her married couple friends who wanted to hear about her love life as a single woman while she got to stay in their home. The husband was in the hallway half naked when the wife went out. Remember how that friend reacted. The husband puts his wife and their/her friend in an uncomfortable position. The friend knows the husband is a cheat, the wife is embarrassed because either she stays or goes. If she stays she’s with an unfaithful man, if she leaves she’s a divorcee on the dating market that their single friend was just telling them about.
48:06 it's the name i guess. Boys keep their last names and keep the family line going. Obviously, in todays age, a woman can keep her name and it not affect anything and that would be just as good an option.
33:21 u were trying to say she reverse engineered the situation, but you meant reverse psychology, reverse engineering something is when you know the end situation and you figure out how to get it, reverse psychology is manipulating someone by asking for the opposite of what you want to convince someone to do what you want
When i was younger i like carrie, then i liked samantha, but now i feel a combo of charlotte and miranda would be best. Probably align more with miranda. I always thought she had the best relationship but geez, your videos showed me how wrong i was!
Charlotte was sick of Trey’s passive ways. She had waited long enough for him to ”claim” her like a masculine man would. Sure thing he was impotent in the bedroom too.

Not having a prenup when you own a business is crazy
I think it depends on the country and the law in said country.
In my situation the business is just me - I work as a contractor.
the comparasion of the views of Carrie and Charlotte about love was so on point
