What you have to understand you can release covers legally. this is almotst like a remix with your own melody. a complete change of the song! a cover has to be really close to original but with your own vocal. this song will be taken down..i hope not but....OR? you can contact the owners of the song and release it that way, but much more work. Distrokid can not do that.

how is it with the copyright stuff when doing a remake on youtube ?
They’ll put a copyright claim which is fine, you just can’t monetize the video. It’s copyright strikes that are bad for your channels, not claims :)
