You are awesome PLV
ye i am....again :D
Hello darling i'm a songwriter producer as you maybe we can collaborate? have a great day from sardinia italy
“My one mistake was not starting earlier. “ that is great advice for a lot of us. You learn so much from the actual experience AFTER starting 😊. Thanks PLV for the awesome upload!
I'm just starting on music production career right now. I was a full time musician(drummer) in Philippines. Since I moved here in Canada, my music life ended. There's no band life for living here. Became a prep/cook in restaurant for 2.5 years. Now I'm doing housekeeping. But where does this end? I wasted 3 years not doing my passion. I feel rusty. I want to get back to music. It's what I love. I can't keep doing things that I don't like. Besides, music production was one of my dream when I was in high school. I wanted to make soundtracks for films and games. I have very small time to practice now that I have 3-month old baby and I'm just starting to learn music theory. I know this will be a very hard journey for me. I don't even know if I'm gonna make it. But I don't wanna stay on jobs that I don't like til I grow old. I'm planning to take online music production course at Point Blank school in LA this October. Any advice for me guys?
PRO TIP: Quit while you are ahead
Get a career in trades or health care. There is great demand for that
Be real. Do music for fun as a hobby
There is simply way more music and music producers out there than there is demand for it
haha.. I might agree with Colin Russell here.. I've been doing music production for 20 + years, I'm currently working on 2 games at the moment and one of them made me realize that making custom music for people can sometimes be tedious AF, especially when the budget isn't huge which seems to be the case with most indie games (also quite hard to get these jobs btw). I also worked as a full time composer for an animation studio at one point and the director ended up being a bit of a sociopath.. a trait which seems common amongst these types.
I have an 11 month year old baby and am now seriously considering just doubling down on my video production / editing / videography; something where there always seems to be work and pays a lot better, and maybe put a bit of music into my videos or just do like 1 excellent track every few months for my game music portfolio, as a way to scratch my music itch.
If you love being on your own on your computer all the time, constantly using social media and using various platforms to "shmooze" with music industry types; usually with no financial outcome, then internet music producer freelancer could be the way; but I must say non of this is really conducive to good mental health.
I attended Point Blank in London btw, the Music Production and Sound Engineering course was actually really good, so I can't knock that.
Only you can make a change. You need to change your mindset from denying the fact that you can’t change. Anyone can change. Just keep doing what you love and grow off it. It only takes a couple hours to make more what you make at your current job, while at a regular job you waste 8-12 hours of working under someone that’s not paying you that much. Work, work, and work. That’s all I gotta say. I used to have the same mindset as you when I was about to give up. But once I changed my mindset and believe in all of my work then everything started getting better than I expected. Now, i’m about to get a placement with Trippie Redd, and Young Dolphs artist album
PLV!! I had no idea you had quit your job already, that is so incredible, wow! I am so grateful to have met you on the start of your journey. Look at that, 2 years, and you’ve accomplished what most people dream of. 🎉🙌
I DIIIIID!! Haha so crazy!!! I still remember when we first met, seems like such a long time ago but it's not! I need to remember that sometimes 😍
It has been my dream for years to work from home as a musician. Now I'm 41 years old, have 3 kids and wife at home so I don't have time to dedicate. Don't put it off if your young and don't let fear ruin your dreams. Set goals to work toward your dreams, otherwise they will always just be dreams. Great advice on this video.
Don't give up on your own dreams dude! Even if you have to wait till the family goes to bed, take an hour a week to work on your music. At least it's a start!
@@embel905 Thanks bro. I will have to do what I can.
😂 I feel you, bro, time versus money to live is a crash for us to pursue some things, I also have busy life now, but I know at some point I will be able
To manage things towards it. I don't care even if I find this time when I am Grandma😂 I will make it before die just because is what I want in this life. 🎉
Hey there. I once met Tim from Evanescence, who was checking his phone constantly backstage as his kid back in California was sick. I asked about the right time to hunt relentlessly for success before making a family, and he told me that family actually can GIVE that oomph to strive for your goals and to make time even when you have none, because unlike many people being torn apart by the industry, you have a loving family to come home to. Just don’t do music for ego, man. Do it for sharing the power of what you’ve found in family. Keep the vision the priority over money and fame. That’ll be the key. Best of luck and much Love.
@@brewendy Sounds like an amazing plan! Us elderlies rockin it!
Thanks so much for giving us budding producers hope and steps and direction. Very much needed! 🔥
Happy to help and inspire :D ✨
Thanks for the motivation! I’m working right now on living off royalties from my music and in the future I want to build a media production company to help independant artist get their music out there without the help of greedy labels.
I'd be more than happy to help you with that company idea
@@sadiemason-martin5340 wow, thanks for the support! If it starts getting momentum, I’ll let you know.
That is a GREAT idea!!!! I think you should more forward with it, there's huge demands ;)
Your progress in a short amount of time is very inspiring and impressive! I have been composing and producing for years but been inconsistent so it’s not that great. I hope I can be more consistent and improve!
Dude that little timer you put at the bottom of your video that tells our poor attention span brains how much time is left on your video is genius. Also, your production quality is great!!! keep it up!
the value you offer through your videos and productions is amazing. For young artists like me, this is extremely inspirational 🔥🔥🖤🖤
Thank you so much for this feedback 😍 Making this video took so much time so hearing this makes it all worth it ✨
Thanks for sharing your wisdom and journey with other producers! I know a lot of people appreciate it
My pleasure! 🤗
honestly the quality of these vids have stepped up another level like holy cow
Awww thank you SOOOO much!!! So happy to hear as Im working sooo hard for it 😍😍
Loved the video and your energy! Though I will say I was expecting it to be more specific about the music producing journey of it all - I think the focus of this was more How I Became a Full Time Content Creator
Hey Melissa! Thank you! :) I totally get your point, when drafting the video it was hard to find a structure that "fits it all" as everyone would choose different ways to monetize their music so this is why I chose to make it more of a wider "plan", step by step idea, rather than being too specific as what I did might not be what someone else want to do.
I also plan on making another video more specific on each source of income so maybe that one will be more helpful for you :)
Thank you for the encouragement!🎉🎉🎉
Any time! 😉🚀
Very inspirational ❤ thanks for sharing
so iconic, i was going through the same thing with music and I started reading books (the same book), literally my life in this video ❤
I love the advice of taking one simple step per day!
One at a time, slowly but surely ;)
Congrats!!!
I love 💕 every ting dat u explaining,u so simple and clear, vry incredible information. Jah bless his people.
i produced for like 3 months and then i created this channel i have analog music instruments expirience but it was still a lerning curve to it its completely different thx for the video
your videos are so good, that is a REAL approach to help people out there. you got so many views, but the people don't seem to subscribe after watching.
That's just the way RUclips is, if you look at ALL channels, there are always more views than subscribers on those great videos that took off ;) But thanks a lot for the kind words!
One of the most clear and concise videos love it
Wow thank you for that!! Super happy to hear and it makes the 20 hours working on that video worth it 😍
Always giving gems !!!!🔥
I came back here to thank you! I finally wanted to do something about my dream of music producing and watched this video first and ended up buying the compound effect book and have been practising and changed my life ever since
Wow thank you soooo much for that it means a lot to hear it has such an impact on you too 🥰🙏🏻
This was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO helpful! I just decided to begin writing/making/producing/ performing my own music and this was such a healthy and realistic approach to how to begin.
absolutely crazy and inspiring video!
thx a lot! 🙏
This really inspires me. I'm planning on using much of my saving to become a hip hop producer.
Im so happy the video inspired you!!! I wish you the best in your journey and Ill be here to help :D
Very wise advice!
I appreciate the conversation around an income plan! Just made my table with some numbers I wish to reach and brought it down from there with more attainable numbers as I'm starting new as a freelance editor and actor!
Thank you for your clear and concise message!
That's amazing that you already applied all this!! So happy to see :) And yeah, you're welcome!
@@musicbyplv It's time to get serious about this! ☺

U r gem . Trust me ... your quality is worth to watch
Thank you so much for that!! I put a lot of time and effort into that one so I'm glad to hear it was enjoyed 🥰🙏🏻
a bit complicated but in the end you simply have to make music, and don't stop. you don't need to know everything at the beginning. just have fun. i am a electronic music producer for over 30 years and still learn every day.... it will never stop
New subscriber! You are chill and smart AF. Keep it going. 👌🏽
Hahaha thanks so much!!! And welcome to the family 🤗

Wow, congratulations! Thank you for sharing your process, and good luck for this new part of your journey! 😊
You're welcome!! Thank you so much :D
I study music at college and have 2 years left, I’m working atm on Saturday and Sunday and that’s 12 hrs a week, I’m currently saving for a Mac mini and all the equipment needed and then I’m going to start doing this aswell
That's awesome, I wish you the best on your journey!!! ✨
I really needed that video ! Thanks for your insights! Wish you all the best on your journey
Okay so I’ve been watching this video and you’re inspiring me. I actually went to uni for music but covid happened everything shut down and I lost alot of connections that way. I grabbed a 9-5 after covid hit just for the bills and I’m still there. I’m only 24 (turning 25 soon) and I feel like I need to get back out there.
I’ve managed to save for about 3 years and have around 40k in savings. I wanna take the plunge but I know it’s risky. You’ve definitely inspired me to take that first step though!
I knew someone through friends that did this exact same thing quit his job in pursuit of his dream, two years latter he's living in a homeless shelter.
4 Simple rules.
Rule No 1 no matter how good you are or think you are if you don't have the funds to start with it aren't happening.
Rule No 2 not everyone is going to win as for every 1 winner there's always gonna be 99 losers even thou some maybe better than you but didn't get the opportunity.
Rule No 3 always have a back up plan, don't waste your whole life casing one goal as not all dreams come true, embrace disappointment that's life.
Rule No 4 don't be envy or jealous of others who succeeded, move on.
100%
True you can produce music with your 9-5 job easily
thankyou for being realistic and saying the truth. i hate how alot of these youtuber advice videos portray the optimistic view of these things, and dont cover all of the substantial risk and how many will fail. they do it specifically because they know that will scare off most of the viewers.
or they just fail to understand their unique advantage in the job market as a youtuber.
the reality is more bleak. its about who you know and what opportunities you are fortuned with, not what you know or how much you work.
Great strategies!! thanks a lot!!! :D
It seems rather than having become a "fulltime music producer", you've actually become a "fulltime RUclipsr/Content creator". That's totally not the same, but people nowadays treat those words as if they were interchangeable. Just sayin'
My thoughs exactly
Exactly !!
Well the title says producer/RUclipsr
Title says producer/youtuber and she is a producer….so you’re most definetly hating….people nowadays are upset with their own situation and feel better hating on others accomplishments. Just sayin’
@@xFaTaLx187x hes not hating. hes stating that becoming a youtuber is much different than working as a producer. and in her case, she can make money from producing likely *because* she is a youtuber, and people know of her services.
most of the income you generate from music production in this self-working route comes from exposure and marketing, not from being a good producer.
so the issue is, like with alot of youtubers, they fail to take into account the fact they have an audience. and the advice they give will not work for a good portion of people doing what they say- without also being a youtuber.
Je reconnais cet accent! Félicitations pour ton parcours. 😀
Your setup is 🔥
Haha thanks 🔥
love your confidence. (also) props to your parents
Thats great sis ❤❤
Thank you soo much PLV for this video. Lets keep going fam, and lets meet on the otherside.
Haha always yeah!!!
Really cool video, Yes, it does take time. I personally went through that process. Setting up sub goals and achieving them daily or weekly in order to reach a bit bigger sub goals. Most people think of the big goal and never get there, it's too big at the moment. What worked for me was focused on a sub goal that is small enough you know you can achieve, but big enough that will get you exited and enjoying the process. Then repeat repeat repeat until you are fully competent at it
That's amazing, that's the best way!!! 🔥 Thanks for the kind words too!
Great video. Great branding. You've done it! Congrats
Happy it worked for u, I recently quit after so many let down n setbacks
Nooooo!! Maybe try to make music just for you for a bit? Otherwise I have a video about this, the rollercoaster of the music industry it's called "How to survive the music industry"! Hope it helps ✨
Great video!
i wanna create my own music too thanks for doing this video
Haha that's so weird, I currently work in VFX too as a Lighter/Comper, transitioning into Music full time also. Inspiring to see!
OMG that IS crazy!!!! Crazier... I was a comp/lighter too 😅
I really like your attitude. I do things the same way. It seems so unreachable at the beginning but you can make it step by step. Good luck to y‘all
I really appreciate what you do. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Loved it, well thought out, great production value!
Thank you so much 😍🙏🏻
I feel like I needed to see this today. Respect 😏🙌🏾
Thanks I can't wait to be the next one to quit my job and follow my dreams. I liked followed and sub.
You can absolutely do it! Have you started making your plan like I explained in the video? It'll be a big help ;) Welcome to the family as well, thank you!
@@musicbyplv I plan on it today thanks and will keep you posted .
@@tracksphantom540 Awesome yeah let me know if you need help, I'm happy to assist :)
@@musicbyplv ok will do maybe we can collaborate some day.
Such a good video! Great job
I took a 6 year hiatus (2015 - 2021) before returning to music. Prior to the 6 years, I recorded and mixed everything in my room (what most people are doing now...I need my credit lol)
Jokes aside, keep hustling, and find a way to not give up. The beautiful part of this is, we are not bound to a record label. Work at your own pace guys.
What makes my new return to music special is the death of mom. But also the challenge of paying for studio time 😆. In other words? I had to "jump off the porch" and get my butt in a studio to have other engineers cater to my vocals.
I'm so sorry to hear but I'm glad you're taking steps forward and not giving up on your dream ✨🙏🏻
@musicbyplv You're awesome, and is appreciated 💐

we definitly want the income streams video !
Thanks for the video, you are a great inspiration for what's possible, even with just organic marketing :D
I appreciate that! 🥰🙏🏻
The big problem is (and you are stating this yourself in this video) that you could do this because of content creation on YT and sponsorships and so on...its not solely with music production ( like the title says).
Dont get me wrong, if this works for you its awesome and I am happy for everyone doing this...
But to make a living wage just out of music production, its a bit more than that. 😅
Nowadays, I feel that most "producers" are making more money with selling the dream, than actually living it themselves. If someone is not making it in this industry (because its 60hr a week of producing music to reach the top space) out of lack of skill or decided to drop out, because its to competitve or its burning them out creatively, they start a youtube channel about teaching or selling courses...
very inspiring! thank you!
great tips! thx for the vid
Anytime 😃
i'll burn the damn boat, also THANK YOU for the content
