This looks visually stunning too, damn. I normally prefer the other C&C games over generals, but this was more visually enjoyable than any of the previous matches in Tib Wars and what not. Kinda like how the intro / menu for generals are cool little diorama's as well. Like I normally don't get that excited watching stuff like this but this was MMM.

Freaking Love the Evolution, really makes me hope that Generals a new game whether it be a Sequel, Remaster, or even a reboot -I don't care as long as there's a new one really hoping, but thankfully this Mod is good enough.
I think this match helped me sort out my feelings about this mod: I like it! I just don't like the late game in it. The first 10 minutes of the match were pretty good! I love seeing all of these units actually being used, SpamsALot had a great idea with the Microwave tanks, I like how he used them to combat the infantry and shut down the production of his opponent, that's the kind of thing I like to see in GenEvo, all of the units being valuable in different ways, having something to contribute (well, except for regular infantry, tbf). Then we get to the 13-15 minute mark and as Sybert goes around the map checking out what the players are doing, we start to see the build up of that mindless tank spam that characterized both previous versions of this game and the meta of old 2d C&C games, and then a few minutes later the tanks are deployed, and that's when all of the cool ideas like the Microwave tanks disappear from the match, it's just giant blobs of a couple units being mashed against each other, just like before, but now with the addition of 4 or 5 super weapons that are built in an attempt to counter them. The tactics in GenEvo kind of take a backseat in the late game when players have enough resources to spam, in Generals Zero Hour that's the point when the supplies would be depleted and players would be trying to stay afloat with their oil derricks and their secondary economy, that's the phase of the game where all losses hurt, and where brilliant strats with small groups of units can turn games around, even when all seems lost. GenEvo has better unit variety and utility, but it doesn't have that late game excitement from its inspiration, it doesn't _have_ to be Zero Hours, to be honest I'd prefer if it continued to do its own thing, but I hope they work on the late game balance a bit.
I think this is more emblematic of the FFA format and the skill of the players than the balance of the game. I mean even in ZH the mid-tier FFA games go exactly this way.
I think I agree. I'm a Generals noob since I just started playing again after like 15 years, but it looks like the mod definitely still needs some tweaking when it comes to balance. The nuclear MiGs do seem overpowered currently as Sybert noted. Infantry also seems weaker than my experience with them in the original campaigns.
@@MrDrury27 While it is true that we haven't seen like... a try-hardey 1v1 match of GenEvo (do those even exist? haha) to put things in perspective, I've also gotten this impression from past videos of the mod, from both Sybert and Dominator, and the ones that Sybert posted recently also made me feel that way, so to clarify I'm not talking about just this FFA. I think the balance in GenEvo got better in this version, especially early on, but it seems that what happened is that they delayed the spammy part of the matches. And like, as much as I greatly enjoy watching these super weapons go, I'll never think it's a good thing that players are building a bunch of them. That's not healthy for the game, makes Generals even more of a game of One Clicks.

surprisingly SPAM had much time after the End of his opponment but he has not used it. Cloud had to fight against the other tank general and was open. And also if EA had attacked Cloud during his attack on GE he had a huge problem. Cloud played well, but at the end he was encirceled by the other players and had luck, that SPAM and EA did not attack him during his campaign against GE. I think that SPAM had all the cards in his hand to win against Cloud and maybe also against EA. I hope they will revive this genre. It was a great one. Still today i am playing Zero Hour and Tiberium Wars.
NGL every time u said something like " EA's... get's trorn in pieces " and each nuke felt good. nothing against the payer it's just that he get's shortest to EA which makes it so nice^^

No, it makes some changes. Some of them are engine related such as build mechanics and supply gathering. Others are for balance or to add units. It's very similar to ZH, but it's not a faithful recreation. It does have everything from the original (or pretty close to everything), but it also has more and some changes.

If you followed the install instructions then I don't know what went wrong. I followed the install instructions and it works. I did have to create a new profile in game to get skirmish to work, but the mod launches and replays and online worked out of the box.
Btw, all these years of developing Generals Evolution maps were about this intro. I'm proud myself as never before :D

Nah you're right, rocket buggies are better artillery for single unit elimination. SCUDs hit an area and are maybe better against buildings.
