In this video I restore an old rocking chair I have neglected for the last 10+ years. After sanding, gluing and reassembling it, I applied a boiled linseed oil and furniture wax.

Good question as they do shift a good bit during glue up. My intent was to keep it the same as it was. I agree that adding dowels is a better approach.

Why wouldn't you put dowels in the seat of the chair.
