  • This rocking chair was made in 19 century Sweden, in Nässjö chair factory. In this video I will try to restore it to it´s former glory.

      @@user-tu7ld9qb1g - Anyone who buys a rocking chair uses it as decoration. They put blankets on it. Ask an American women, it’s decor. If it’s all busted up they put potted plants on it. They don’t sit on those.

      Yes! Destruction is so easy and so quick and we see so much of it these days, it’s heartbreaking. To see someone restore something so beautiful and expertly crafted is, to me, really moving actually.

    This is so much more than a restoration! Your ability to deconstruct a piece, craft new parts and then reassemble, is the finest craftsmanship. The end result of that rocker is stunning!

    I love it that you finish your projects the right way with many layers of natural shellac, not one heavy coat of something chemical. Shellacking looks like nicely finished wood, synthetic sealer looks like plastic. Lovely work, indeed!

      Not impressed. Poor joint work. Trusting glue to hold where clearly something more is needed. Flat sanding directly across the turned spindles sands the carved portions flat. Losing details. Poor quality pin-striping. Not impressed.. just because it’s shiny does not means it’s “master craftsman” quality.

    I saved two rocking chairs from the land fill this year. Mine were no where near as fabulous as this one is.

    Третий раз смотрю это видео. Что мне нравится в ваших работах, так это тщательность! Ни один мастер на ютюбе не выполняет работу так качественно, что каждая мелкая щелка заделывается раствором и шлифуется. Не оставляется без внимания ни одно отверстие от старого гвоздика. Вы всё тщательно прорабатываете своими золотыми руками. Браво! 🎉

    I would just like to say, your work is absolutely amazing, the time you take in restoring these grand old items to their former glory is simply unbelievable. I love doing work on pieces as well ,however my skill level is nowhere near to your level of restoration nor do I have the many tools you have displayed but I have learned so many things just from watching your videos that I feel will help me with the tools I have ....so please continue the excellent work. It is an inspiration!!

    I love watching you work. My father-in-law would have loved to watch you. He did woodworking as a hobby. He made a desk for our daughter, trinket boxes for all the girls, lots of things for everyone. I have a shelf/end table that I have beside me here. I miss him, but I’m so glad to have the things he made. There is nothing better than hand-crafted gifts. Any little thing is precious.

    I am very impressed by the meticulous restoration which you created! The lengths to which you went to create an impeccable restoration of this antique chair are remarkable. It reminds me of the cliche from a revered instructor in my past who used to say “Always choose the harder right versus the easier wrong when striving for perfection!” This chair is a sterling example!

    Thank you for taking the time to care for this older broken rocker. People are too quick to throw out old things and buy cheap replacements. These while maybe not hugely expensive, are a part of our history.

    I can’t believe it. At first I thought that the rocker was a hunk of junk and you were wasting your time! But by the time you were done I was eating my words! It turned out GORGEOUS! The dimensions and the lines of the rocker really are beautiful and I’m glad you were able to see that when you chose to work on it. Whoever got that rocker is a very lucky person!

    Beautiful restoration! I kept thinking about restoring my mom's early 1800's black painted child rocker. Very much like this one, but smaller. I was 11 years old at the time. Turned out pretty good, but would have been better if I'd had your video back then. Bravo, Maestro!

    Loved that joint that you used to repair the broken bottom rocker. I'm always impressed by the amount of strength that wood glue has when given enough surface to bond on. I thought that you may go with a scarf joint of some kind but whatever that one is called looks like it did the trick.
