      (1) Losing out on the P1 / P2 due to the accident (and 8 minute run) then the delay until 2am when they kicked us all out a half hour prior SUCKED.
      (2) Traffic was awful... in spite of closing the strip only at 5pm, it was just bad all the time.
      (3) While I like walking, the distances required to walk to the race grandstand (East Harmon) was nuts if you were staying at the Wynn, Venetian, etc...
      (4) Ticket and clothing prices were outrageous. The value you got for what you spent was so unbalanced it was ridiculous.
Would I go next year? Perhaps. There were enough positives to make it a possibility, but they need to consider reductions in package prices and more reasonable prices for clothes, etc. Hopefully by next year they can sort out some of the traffic challenges as well.
Also -- McLaren, Alfa and Mercedes were fairly well represented... Aston, Red Bull and Ferrari were almost non existent, which was disappointing. It was like they were too cool for school to come to Vegas. Bummer.

Plus TV in casinos were crowded with people..

I was in Vegas a month before the race, and the construction and traffic disruption were already bringing the city to a boil. I can't imagine how much chaos there was in town during race weekend.
We had an F1 grand prix in Baltimore in 2011, and I got a ticket to one of the practice sessions - didn't even get a seat, just entry into the race zone. Never again! It's chaos, everything is insanely overpriced, and frankly, the cars roaring past at 150-200mph are not terribly exciting or enjoyable at ground level. Also, the company that organized the race screwed the city out of over a million dollars, and the whole thing didn't bring in nearly as much money to the city as the organizers promised. The race was held for three years with two different organizers, and fizzled out. I doubt it will ever happen again.

We signed up to get early access and when the packages came out, the prices were insane. And you were forced to buy hotel and tickets so even if we wanted to come over just for a day we couldn’t. @Big-4 10 месяцев назад

@@Big-4 If the turn out wasn’t low how come the prices dropped like a rock? Hotel rooms were available for as low as 90 bucks if not less. Initially you could only buy packages staring at 5K and towards the end you could buy single tickets for the weekend for $500 and hotel rooms prices were pretty cheap. You are missing the point about not being able to afford going to Vegas. It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the value I put on a sporting event and paying 5K or 10K is not worth it. I am willing to pay 3K. That’s the value I am willing to pay. I attended the World Series to watch the Dodgers and I was willing to pay no more than 2K for a single gane which is what I paid. @@juliopaez4516 because they over shot the market & readjusted. Once they did the remainder filled in. They did the same in Miami & people delay purchases like this. Your value proposition may or may not fit the F1 business model. If you want to go bad enough in person you’ll save up or watch it on TV like 99.9% of the world. Idiotic are people who get defensive when people respond to comments you voluntarily put online!

With time will come shorter prep time and shorter take down time. Monaco sets up in 6 weeks and has it all down in 3 weeks. But, they have been doing it for 75 races and have it modularized to make set up and tear down easier. It also helps that the major work to preparing the track is done and subsequent years should be much less disruptive.
But yes, super-gougy prices for rooms and tickets at the start was a faux pas and I understand as race day got closer, hotel prices and ticket prices plummeted. Throw in a brief practice run and those disappointed fans, and the biggies for locals - traffic disruption and local government having to cough up half the cost, when the promoters were originally going to foot it all.

    Ruby
    Normally I’m your biggest fan.
This time you are completely wrong. Ask any of the dealers…for example it’s being reported that Wynn/encore dealers made upwards of 2k plus for a Saturday it tokes. Or Friday at Cosmo dealers also made North of 2k for a dealer. A normal weekend is 300 to 400 for a Saturday. I also understand that servers at restaurants made upwards of 1k for Friday and Saturday shifts.
It was such a success that it’s been confirmed that there is a 10 year contract signed.
Normally your facts are spot on. This time you missed the mark.
Why didn’t you share what the room cost if it wasn’t sponsored.

The goal of F1 in Vegas was to get new American audience! F1 came to vegas with a clean slate-vegas opened their arms. Now it’s a sour taste, F1 PR dropped the ball. This could’ve been a die hard vegas event if they did more for locals and adjust pricing. Seems to me lots of ppl r interested.

I agree with a lot of your comments. I think overall it was a success, in the sense Vegas put on a great race, but I can’t say it was a fan focused experience. Prices alone, show that. I had a great time despite not getting an over priced ticket. I found a good bar with a small view of the track. The casinos were the winners it seems, thanks to increase in bigger spending gamblers being in town, during a quiet part of the year. However, it seems more of the regular Vegas crowd stayed away because the hotels were over priced until the last minute. This it hurts workers in hotels with less guests. Uber/taxi drivers were telling me it had been a bad week for them.
Hopefully it should be less painful next year, as all the lessons should have been learned now. We’ll have to wait and see, but I hope they can find a way to look after the locals.
For the sake of bias, whilst this is not a sponsored video, was this a gifted Wynn experience, like I’ve seen on other channels? No hate, just asking. The Wynn is always great. 🙂

If they are going to continue to do it on the strip they need to be able to setup and take down everything in a few weeks vs. months and months of disruptions! I think you are 100% correct - anyone who had a little bit of interest was scared off by the pricing at the beginning. I had a comp offer at Cosmo in Vegas and I told my host I wasn't interested in the F1 mess... I'm hoping the majority of it is removed in 4 weeks because that is when I'll be back! Thanks for sharing your experience! It was definitely interesting to see from this perspective!

One positive out of all the negatives is at least we won't have to worry about the streets being repaved next year. I heard something to the effect that they only have to do this every three or four years. It will still be a hassle tho when it comes to them putting up the stands and stuff.

I was glad to see your video post regarding the F1 race as I knew that it would be an honest appraisal from local residents. Much of what I've seen online after the race has been negative. However, it has looked to me (from afar) that the race was actually held and completed, there were many other activities for fans to enjoy alongside of and away from the track, etc. It was nice to hear you say as a casual observer that you had more fun at the event than you expected. That's what it's all about.

There are plenty of race courses or streets OUTSIDE of the Strip that they should have used. Places where constructing huge grandstands, which they have to do at all races run in cities (like the Long Beach Grand Prix), won't disrupt a major boulevard. Did F1 not realize there is a Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

I'm pretty sure F1 has a 10 year agreement to be in Vegas so you'll have them for the next decade. As a fan of F1 and your channel I liked seeing your take on the race and hearing an unbiased review. Thank you. For me, I think I prefer Austin to watch a U.S. race and Vegas a deferent fun weekend. Canada or Mexico City might be just as easy a trip for F1 fans. Did the race tickets come from Wynn as well? Thanks again.

10 years of the construction crap sounds like a nightmare for the locals. Honestly what I predict will happen is after a couple years the Vegas F1 buzz will massively die down, the locals will give legal hell over the races and either the city, F1 or both will try to cancel the contract. F1 is fun but there’s only so much even Vegas locals can take.

As a big F1 fan the original prices were so high we didn't consider going even though we wanted to. By the time they dropped it was way too late to plan on a trip. They should hopefully get it more right next year and we will look into it.
Also the traffic did not look bad at all in any of the videos I saw complaining about it. I guess you are just not used to traffic or construction at all being in a warm climate where the pavement lasts for decades. Come to Boston if you want to see road work and traffic!

Any time you have an F1 Street circuit, there is going to be a lot of disruption to the people who live or work around it. In this case you have to wonder whether it was worth it given the months of disruption beforehand and weeks of disruption after it while they pack up. You'd have to think that bookings and prices would be impacted both on the Strip and greater Las Vegas both pre and post race for a number of weeks. Does the event itself offset this? I live in a city that hosts an F1 GP on a partial street circuit but it isn't right in the middle of the city so the disruption limited to people that are in the area or have to pass through that area so it is still annoying for a portion of the population, but this looked like next level disruption from what I could see. The race itself is a great spectacle, but I'm not sure it is worth it.

So you can’t do a video review and not tell your viewers what things cost! So you were clear that F1 was not a sponsor so are we to assume that the Wynn didn’t comp your weekend? How much was the hotel room you had? What was the price of the F1 tickets? How much was the white truffle risotto? Reviews always includes the prices.

They could take a lesson on what is going on in Hawaii. In spite of the fire on Maui long-standing tourists are abandoning the islands in large numbers due to greedy hotels and other operators . I saw it up close over the holidays . That could easily happen in Las Vegas.
