When you read "Little Charlie Baty Tribute Show with Rick Estrin and the Nightcats with Anson Funderburgh" You feel like you've hit the lottery, and the world is spinning a little faster. What a heartfelt treat.
I was at the studio cafe in Santa Rosa Cal may 1990, live !! Was awesome!! (I have my sonoma blues society too) one of best guitar player and the greatest harmonica player too,,,congratulations!!
Fantastic ! Thanks for posting this treasure. Kid surprises me every time and always brings in something new of his own phrasing. And Anson is so cool and hot both at the same time. Great version of "Off The Wall " at 33:34. L.W. would be proud.
Thanks so much everyone for sharing this memorial tribute online. The photos were great and the show was really special. The moment that Anson was given Charlie's L5 guitar on stage was magic. Charlie and Rick have both been an inspiration to me. I first saw them at the Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia in 1992, where Rick proclaimed that Charlie was the most 'unusual' guitar player he'd ever met! Charlie brought in Jazz, swing, rockabilly and all sorts of great musical influences to the Blues which really opened my mind. I also loved the fact that he played harmonica and switched to guitar. And look at what a creative genius he became! Best wishes and thoughts to Little Charlie's family and friends. I still feel sad about his passing and to see this show was really nice. Thank you for the music!!
Rest in Peace Charly Baty, you giant. Estrin, Andersen, and everyone else sounds fantasic on this, and it's always a pleasure to hear Anson Funderburgh.
