    Looking back on this, my voice was definitely burned up from being too excited/improperly taking care of my voice/not playing long sets. It definitely checked me to get my techniques in line... I’ve also put down smokes since. I also blew my high register during ITUE. Which then has steered me towards being more calculated, and growing with the changes in my voice. Not so much, what I am trying to go for.

      You still definitely got it man, even if it's not as powerful as the S/T - Doppelganger - Manipulator - ITUE era your voice still carries heavy power and I love it so much! Some of my favorites are 401k and Mirrors from Mukiltearth just to give some examples. Thanks for taking this with such passion, this and many more things makes you and everyone who works at TFoT and their own projects simply so amazing!

Not gonna lie first thought was who let thomas get this fucked up before the show? sounds like me after a whole fifth of whiskey. Much love man, keep slaying with that mighty axe of yours.

    i actually like thom's new vocal style. my biggest issue with his singing before was that he could sound kinda whiny at times. he may be a bit less energetic and definitely less erratic now, but i'm honestly hoping to see a more conservative approach on their next record. these guys have already proved they're some of the greatest musicians around today, and erak is a masterfully unorthodox songwriter.

      Michael Benson Thomas sounded pretty good in late 2004, 2005 and 2006 :P he even did some demanding stuff back then look up for Tom Waits demo, the el corazon 2006 april Act One Scene One performance, his screams for Excreations durning that same 2006 performance...

      Michael Benson Yeah, years of drinking, smoking and screaming did the part. He didn't practice enough at that time, his vocals at 2013 reunion and first part 2014 were shit, he sounds way better now, though his screaming is getting just worser.

    • @Mazut0
      @Mazut0  9 лет назад +1

      Andrew Over The only album he wasn't on is "In the Unlikely Event"
      And on the "Phantom on the Horizon" EP because he left in late november/december of 2007 due to stress (there are rumors that he abused drugs and that the band wanted to be clear, but it's a known fact that Thomas was on speed) and was replaced by "Frank "Black" Ene" who was then the bassist for TFOT til they broke up in 2010. The band reunited in september 2013 with the original lineup :).

    Erak has the most awkward sense of melody when it comes down to solos.

    • @voteZDLR
      @voteZDLR 9 лет назад +3

      Fernando Barreto The entire construction of the song is different, it's not just the solos. Some may call it really "proggy", others may say it's... awkward, or different, or weird. And it's kinda one of those things that you're right no matter what you say. They may as well have their own genre named after them, because I can't think of another band that is similar enough to be compared to the FoT. Revolutionary stuff. If only they had stayed together years ago. oh well.

    The instruments were on point, but like... I mean it was amazing when he was younger, Erak could sing, scream AND play beyond lead-guitar difficulty technical stuff on the guitar... but he just can't do it anymore. IMHO, signing a fourth member, a lead vocalist, with Tim and Thom backup vocalists/screamers, seems like it might at least be worth consideration. Of course, they're on record as saying that one of the benefits of only three people is they all get paid more too, so there is that. Regardless, so happy FoT is doing their thing again. They are phenomenal.

      voteZDLR I watched them live on Tuesday in Scotland and I have to disagree. At times I considered what you said but when I finally saw them live for the first time I was proved wrong. They've still got it, TRUST ME! lol

    • @voteZDLR
      @voteZDLR 9 лет назад

      areyamdidntnot Remember, I am specifically referring to their vocals only, and more specifically I am referring to this video and other displays of their performances live in the past few weeks.

    • @Mazut0
      @Mazut0  9 лет назад +2

      areyamdidntnot Thomas should spend some time to fit his vocals with every part on every song I'm sure that he could do it with lots of practices.
      Also Thomas loses the In tune-ity after screaming and his screaming sure is at the end, he should let Tim do the whole work. Actually I'm pretty sure that Tim would even sing more in tune. But as we all know thomas likes and always liked to show off ;) he would even remove mofucking andrew (beast drummer, thomas isnt even close to his drumming) and play the drums XD and thomas knew to take tim's bass off and it's funny cuz he doesn't know how to hold the bass like a bass player. I know that he learned all these instruments but it's obvious that tim is better on bass and andrew better on drums than him. Playing guitar like that should be enough for him and clean singing (with practice before)
