  • After spending a whole lot of time cutting stair treads by using an angle finder and tape measure I decided to build my own jig for cutting and fitting stair treads. This was quick and easy to make from scrap wood I had laying around so it didn't cost any money. This tool really made the process of trimming out the finished staircase much easier and much faster.

    WOW I didn't know such a doohickey existed! It would be quite helpful to retread my 100+ year old stairs. Thank you for sharing.

    Interesting !!! I have built myself exactly the same type of jig in 2013 when doing the same job - installing new treads on my stairs to/from basement. I guess that is probably the only way to get the angles correct and make the job much easier/faster - at least the simplest way. It is nice to see that not all people are lazy like myself - and take time to share good ideas ! great channel :)

    Put your fence on the other side of the blade ?
    You should always have the offcut on the outside of the blade, so bullnose against the fence 🙂👍🇦🇺

    "We're not going for super fancy precision"
    While he's making a jig so he can go for super fancy precision.... LOL....
    I'd just buy 3/8" quarter round trim and call it a day....
    The pine is going to grow and shrink and you're going to have gaps anyway

    • @danp3808
      @danp3808 2 года назад +2

      No - please no - no quarter round trim
