Wow bro thats crazy, thats alot of work to go through for 1 step. Mine were factory steps. I cut back like 3/4 of an inch. The riser board they gave me were 7 1/4" and my steps were 8" high. Because the stair nose they gave me was not that big. Got all material from Lumber liquidators "core lux flooring". My first time doing flooring sl learing alot, thank you for all the different scenario's. I used the card board trick like you said on transistion's, they were telling me they just glue down all there transistion's they dont use the bracket, but I wanted to use the bracket incase I have to pull the floor up for repair.
Thanks you for all the positive comments. Couple things I wanted to mention. Yes it takes too long to do one step. Not to mention the time it takes to pull the carpet and 1000 staples. So when people want me to do steps for $10 a step. You can see why I look at them all crazy. You get what you pay for and steps are expensive. Glad to see you save some money and tackle it yourself. One other thing just food for thought. Some of the transitions come with a plastic piece shaped like the track. That's made to go under the track to bump it up like the cardboard or wedge tip I use. Good to know. Good luck with your projects and thanks again for the comments
I mean you can but you may have to modify it to get it to fit just right. I've done it and just turned it into a stairnose so it matches. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
What i'm finding on the home depot webside looks to be about $50ish for the tread and another $15 for the riser. is that roughly accurate? I really want to make our stairs look better, but that's a lot more expensive than I thought it would be
Hey nick. Yes stairs can get expensive. Check out this video for redoing your steps for under $25 ea. ruclips.net/video/VHD9SEuwPN0/видео.html You can stain them any color you want. Just make sure you stairs are not too tall to begin with or you may need to take the old treads off and just use these. Also I'm always available for any questions that I'm able to answer based on my experiences. You can dm me anytime at fb or Instagram. Look up Z Construction LLC. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day
So does it pick up on a wall handrail past the 5 steps? Just curious. Sorry but if it were me I would remove the handrail, redo the steps the re install the handrail. May have to cut the rails the thickness of your new steps as it may be to high. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
Does anyone other than me notice how stupid we are for holding on to our English fractional system of measurement? The metric system is so much easier and is more precise as well.
Great video! When putting new treads on top of the old treads, is the first, bottom step higher than the other steps?
If you're using the same thickness of tread all the way up all the steps should be the same. Except for the top one will be a little bit shorter.
Looks awesome! Newbie here. You just help me avoid a costly mistake! Thanks !
Awesome glad to be of service. Thanks for the comment
I used a dremel saw max and a wood chisel to cut that tread nose off…. Worked great!
So many options. Nice tip. Thanks.
Great Video!
Thank you
Great video, can't wait for part 2
Very informative. Thanks. Great tips too!
Thank you

@@YOUFLOOR most differently, I would charge $125-$150 per step depending on what needs to be done.
Exactly
Can you use the treads on the top step instead of the cap to make all steps consistent?

@@YOUFLOOR Thanks for the quick reply. Agreed. I was looking at mine and I will have to sand the underside down 1/8".
@@YOUFLOOR May I send you a picture?

I have raining on the first 5 stairs which are wider than the rest of the stairs. Metal railing goes directly in the step. What can I do?

@@YOUFLOOR yes. It starts this way then becomes a wall hand rail. I don’t think I can DIY such a job tho. Thanks for your amazing videos.

Yeah it would be nice if we were all on the same page. And yes much more precise
