    I used a Wacom One for almost two years, it's just excellent! Now I'm working on a Huion Kamvas 22, also working great, I made the change because when drawing comics, the 13 inch screen gets small when I make just a little zoom, but I still prefer the One stylus, it's just great. As for accesories, I just use a gaming one hand keyboard, very useful to have shortcuts in the macro keys.

    Articulated arms are amazing for larger pen displays! Clears up desk space, makes it easier to use your display as a normal monitor when you're not drawing/sculpting, and it feels really badass when you pull it towards you to work. Ergotron makes a pricey-but-nice model, but Amazon has some fantastic cheap arms if you don't mind paying The Bezos.

    You mentioned shortcut key remotes and I was waiting for your to say "The Tour box Neo is a...". Ever since they sent me one I have not been able to stop using it. I'm primarily an animator, but I find that it's useful for music production, video editing, or any other program you can think of. The analog controls make things like zooming in, increasing brush size, or flipping frames in animation much more natural and kind of fun. I can't wait for their Bluetooth version to come out.

    I had a Samsung Note 10.1 tablet. I bought the Staedtler stylus for it and it gave the tablet a whole new dimension. Far better for digital drawing than the pokey little phone-sized s-pen that came with it. I made a big ol' upgrade to the Tab S7+ and I mainly use the big ol' proper-sized s-pen that came with _that,_ but sometimes I still reach for the Staedtler. I've noticed the rubber tip has a lot less sensitivity, or more resistance(?) than the slightly splaying tip of the packaged s-pen, giving thinner lines for the same pressure and brush size. It means that if I want to do, say, fine hatching among swoopy brush lines, I sometimes, _sometimes_ switch physical tools rather than switch digital tools, or adjusting the digital tool size.
    I'm not sure if this constitutes digital drawing heresy or not.

    I am an illustrator who has used traditional methods, involving pencil and paper. I have a Samsung S6 which is pretty good for conceptual sketches including small renderings. Is there a tablet upon which one can use traditional drawing tools such as straight edge, triangles and compass? The Rytz axis construction can be done with paper and pencil in 15 minutes but, with a tablet, it is a cumbersome and daunting task. Why can't there be a hybrid device which will allow the use of a geometry set - a traditional little box available at Staples. Also I find it very difficult to set up an "edger" line using only the drawing tools in Autodesk Sketchbook, on the S6. But it works if I use a ruler, on the surface of the glass!

    The Wacom One sounds like a good deal, but I just can't do 1080 vertical. I'm so spoiled on the amount of tools I can see at once, and that was when I was running 1440 on my desktop. I've switched to 2160 vertical and now I'm beyond spoiled.

    • @jodiac
      @jodiac 3 года назад

      Yup yup yup I just love being able to see all of a 1080p canvas at full quality and have the tools in the same display, I also tend to justify keeping my pen tablet with the thought that looking down to a pen display is gonna hurt my neck a lot more than looking up to my monitor.

      @@tggorudon2551 for two reasons - 1.) a Stream Deck has the benefit of visually displaying what each button does (which would be better than a numberpad), and 2.) the Expresskey and Tour Box have radial controls that might be better for fine adjustments of Zoom, etc. I like both of those benefits (#1 and #2). I'm just trying to figure out which one would be a greater advantage.

    • @CravenLovelace
      @CravenLovelace 3 года назад +1

      I can't speak to the Wacom Expresskey, but I own both a couple Stream Decks and a Tour Box Neo. I like both products very, very much, but they are really pretty different. If your interest is in having something to augment your tablet drawing, then the Neo would be the better choice there, I think. The Stream Deck's only real use in drawing would be as a hot key replacement, mostly. That is useful, but you can do that with the Neo as well, except with the Neo, you also have the knob, dial, and scroll gadget, which are ideally suited for things like brush size, zooming, etc. In terms of overall office productivity, the Stream Deck has been a more important product for me. But in terms of drawing specifically, the Neo wins.

    I do still mostly draw on mine using a BOOX Pen2 Pro, but as I lost the cap for mine, the nib got bent and it's probably about time I replace it.

But here is my problem...Dell discontinued it, meaning that if my pen breaks for whatever reason the tablet becomes useless. I have tried samsung's pens on it and they do work but are always a bit to the side compared to the cursor on screen. So my question-does anyone know of a good replacement that would actually work? Could the wacom pen from the wacom one work (given that it is pretty much the same pen at least on the spec side of things)? (I have tried ebay for the original pen but have had no luck)

      You could try using a nail clipper on the tip.
      (But make sure to have replacement tips !!)
      Otherwise yo can probably configure offset in your program\OS.
      My Samsung Tablets Pen works perfect, no offset.
      But my Elitebook EMR Pen has a bit of offset (IbisPaint has an option to correct offset)

      @chalupawhale well i wouldnt say anything is wrong with it, but i expected a bit better quality, pen feels extremly cheap, screen is washed out, pen accuracy is not the best, it still gets the job done (i aint changing it anytime soon) and when you compare prices of huion and wacom (at least in my region) 270€ for huion and 450€ for wacom it is to be expected, i just had unrealistic expectations.

      @chalupawhale well my experience with wacom was okay i dont have any complaints(most likely because i didnt use their tablets much and when i did i was really inexperienced), i started with "one by wacom" and it was great i liked everything about it but i wanted something with screen, then i got samsungs note 10 that used wacoms pen and digitizers, till this day note 10 is so damn good and only reason i use huion tablet is because of screen size and programs. Only problem i had with huion drivers was yesterday, for some reason when i try to calibrate a pen it shows up only on half of a screen

      I just got the Kamvas 16 (2021 not pro) and after a few days of playing with it I think it is just as good as the 22” Cintiq I used while at school. Good color, no lag on the regular Krita brushes (haven’t tried the more processor intensive brushes), and good pen accuracy. There is a slight amount of flex in the middle of the screen but only if you are actually testing it, the pen is a little light and thinner than the Art Pen I used with the Cintiq but not enough to be a problem. Over all good quality device.

      @@IV.Fourth I'm almost in the same boat. I moved up from a Note 10.1 tablet to Tab S7+. I've been thinking about pen displays for the same reasons: even bigger screens and desktop software. It's disappointing but informative to know that a Huion might not be that much of an upgrade.

    don't even think about dropping your Vacom Express Key Remote. The back cover is made of thinnest plastic and it will crack in one second (personal experience)

    I got a Huion KD100 as a keypad to help my workflow and only when I tried to use I found out it couldnt work at the same time with an older Huion tablet who doesnt have a batery-free pen. Seems like there's a drive conflict, but neither works alone without their respective drive. Once I tried customer support it has been the worst experience with customer support I ever had. Thankfully I ordered through Amazon so I could get a refund.
    So be careful with really specific purpose keypads, check if they won't conflit with older tablet models and your pc. Sometimes it's best to make yourself an easy solution for macropads like Brad taught.

      I just bought the same keypad along with the huion h580x pen tablet which is the medium size of their new inspiroid series so it shouldn't be a problem with the driver, even though I already have a tablet, the gaomon m10k pro, I found it to be too large and I have an issue with the wheel when on brush side mode, I can decrease but I can't enlarge, I went to their official account on Twitter and so far they haven't given a solution, so yeah

    Hi Brad,
    I know this is of topic - but…. I know you are into animation on iPad and I would love to hear what you think of „alight motion“ 4.0
    It looks like The closest thing to “aftereffects” on the iPad. Even though the pro version is a subscription, all features are free till Dezember 16th I believe.
    So maybe a good time to give it a try.
    I’ve got no business with the makers - just curious what you think of it.
    Regards Kai
