God used Stryper to bring a 17 year old teenager in South America Venezuela 🇻🇪 They inspired me to start a Latin rock band to reach others for Christ. 2021 They still rock for Jesús and I do too . Thank God
I grew up in Church, but was always sort-of just there. I saw Stryper in 1985 and they planted a seed which on 7/18/1986, I FINALLY accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. Best decision I ever made and encourage others to investigate His Love and Grace, as well. It is after all, Amazing Grace and its free to everyone, regardless of what you do or don't believe, the mistakes you've made (believe, I have an encyclopedia full of my own), or how you were raised. Bully Graham said it best, "Jesus came, died, and rose from the dead to give eternal hope and life to the whole world; every man, woman, and child, ever born!
I really like Stryper since many years but, for me, the best Christian Band is PETRA (more with John Schlitt than Greg X Volz but I like also both of them).
I remember this very well. I was beyond excited when they played on the Dove Awards. Time for you guys to bring them back on the Dove Awards & they deserve the respect once and for all. They literally blew the doors off the hinges & Christian music wouldn’t be as big as it is now without Stryper. They started it all! God gets the glory using these 4 men!
I'm a respectful non believer but I still dig Stryper, Bloodgood, Vengeance Rising, Barren Cross, Holy Soldier, Believer... all killer Christian bands I love.
If a genie granted me 1 wish to go back in time to anytime anywhere, it would be to this Dove Awards thing. Oz Fox kept to the script regardless of how cold the audience was. Robert Sweet could care less where he was. And in the end, a standing O. Audience did not know what hit them….and it smacked them hard. Wow. Epic. I miss 1986.
i cried watching this.Just absolutely amazing.Tears were also for the great reaction from the Christian community how it was then and how the reaction would be now.
We were youth Pastors on Queen Anne Hill, Seattle. One of our kids loved Stryper & actually gathered kids to go to a concert & paid our way....I was the pennyless Youth Pastor's wife who took the van load of kids down to the Paramount. I had to wear sunglasses & earplugs so I wouldn't trigger a migraine, but I was glad to have experienced that. Lord Jesus bless them. They were ahead of their time & not always well received❤❤❤ A year or so later we had been called to a little church in a small town near Mt. Rainier. Our son wore his "To hell with the Devil" T-shirt to the high school & was in trouble. They didn't realize it was a real sentiment, not swearing❤❤❤
@@monesjones8431 oh yes! It's quite clear, since it sounds exactly the same as the studio version. Same singing, no vocal arrangements or modifications... Us (musicians and singers) use to modify some aspects of the song (enphasis, intensity, modified notes...) not to mention that, live, it's impossible that your voice sounds as normalized. In constant movement, the distance between your mouth and the micro varies, and so the intensity of the voice does too. In this song, every instrument and the voice itself sounds perfect everytime. There are many things you see are not natural when you are a singer or musician who plays live.
There's no way his voice sounded exactly like the track I'm not discrediting him he's a great singer but here in this video it's all lip synced even the guitars weren't hooked up to amps the only thing that's legit is the drums.

Im looking for a clip from I think the 26th annual awards from 1995 ? maybe. Its a clip with Mark Lowry announcing I think with Bill Gaither best rock album or something. Anyways, Michael Sweet is a nominee and Mark said Michael cant be here tonite cause he is at home washing his hair. Do you have that clip? Thanks!
Hi Michael! We are working hard on digitizing ALL of our Dove Award Shows from the past 51 years. We are starting with the performances and then will start working on the awards. We will get there!
They were told all instruments could not be live, and they had to use the track. The only thing that was live was the drums. They are masterful musicians, but these were the options they were given.
Get the word out any way shape or form. Back in the day you wer never going to reach me with Pat Boone songs. God uses this band in many people's lives and still does
@@MrAwesome739 I don't know but my guess... Christian metal was something really new, as you can see the introduction by the host. Stryper is a band you need to see live.
Cierto yo tuve el honor de ver a los Stryper en directo en junio del 2005 en el Lorca Rock y fue Maravilloso un saludo desde Málaga 😊😊😊

That audience was gobsmacked 😮Glad they didn't tone down their set... Robert and Oz were in overdrive 😂🔥
I want to see the Dove Awards bring them back to the show to perform again. I am going to see them on their 40th anniversary tour in a few weeks.
Greatest Christian band of all time!!
They are great, but not the greatest. Not even the greatest Christian metal band.
Your opinion
...OF ALL TIME 🙌🏼⚡🎸
I really like Stryper since many years but, for me, the best Christian Band is PETRA (more with John Schlitt than Greg X Volz but I like also both of them).
Agreed! They did what every other Christian band tried to achieve, & they didn’t water down their message to do it like Amy Grant & so many others!
Standing ovation for Stryper, because that is what they deserve!💯
I had forgotten how fantastic many of Oz's early solos really were.
Also, Pat's intro is actually pretty cool.
Thank God for them
Thank you, Stryper . . . always!

Better in every way than any other christian artist
Thank you Jesus for this song and allowing me to catch this performance I somehow missed back in the day. 🙏

Stryper FOREVER!
I get choked up every time I see the standing ovation.
They worked a field of souls that no other artist would touch...

I have Michael Sweet's autobiography he wrote the Dove awards wouldn't let them perform live.

The Beatles never got to play the Dove Awards but Stryper did.

Great metal song. ❤❤❤
Mike was just killing it on the ...er... mic.
Excellent
Stryper is the best!
That slaps so hard that it knocked the devil out of me.
We need this now in Football Half-Time..and watch Swift cry becuz its just more beautiful music
Definitely! ❤
stryper~~~
Had to watch the full performance after watching clip in Electric Jesus. The audience had no idea what was coming

The people in the audience look less than amused 😂

So it was live for the audience but they played the record over it for the broadcast?
