I ordered a set of these tires after watching this video. I own a (mostly) fully upgraded Traxxas Sledge (Hobbywing Max8 G2 motor/ESC, M2C beefcake kit, CVD Centerline driveshaft, etc.) and these tires overloaded my ESC.
Interesting. I didn't have that problem but you may need to adjust gearing as these will get really good traction and could easily put more load on the ESC than the stock tires do.

Ur correct about the trexxas tires they come undone I was running my sledge earlier an not the back right rear came a loose. Pull out the super glue. U no the make the wheelie back for this beast now just put mine on the sledge can jump 2

I would like to see how much they ballon vs the stock when you just hold the car and floor it, I'm sure I still saw ballooning but really like the tread pattern, I want to eliminate ballooning tho so dunno......
These definitely will be the tires for you if you want to eliminate ballooning. The ballooning isn't insane but they definitely do balloon. Nice video. I think the ballooning works like a "gear".. As it expands the contact surface to the ground moves faster. So I think the stock tires will be faster(also because they're lighter), but these definitely look better and probably has better grip. I would love to see a time comparison between them in some sort of track.

Yea it definitely increases the gearing but it also increases the ride height amd yaw characteristics, even with ARB's that ballooning makes them unpredictable at different speeds especially in corners, to me in this video it looked like his new tyres ballooned too, especially in the air, yea I really wanna know how much they balloon compared as I want a good handling tyre for loose ground.....

Ive recently told you about my problem with my sledge, ive got a ton of money invested in this thing , i had a problem with ovwr heating, esc batterys and motor, now that ive fixed the esc connector problem and put ec5 plug on max6 and put the rocket 4092 1650kv motor , the eac stayed cool but the motor and batterys stil hot im assuming , what is the temp your motoe can handle ? It got ip to 194 degrees and battery and connector was around 168 degrees. I invested the money into this because I wanted to have one good bastard to keep I've had everything from two-wheel drive rustlers to xmaxx to 8s outkast and everything in between, never had heating issues until now. Mesh is good 18\54 gearing so its not over geard for max6 with 1650kv motor. If i cant figure it out im just gona sell it and it will be super disapointing, edit: all bearings are new as well its basicaly a entirely brand new truck
That's too hot for the motor battery and connector. I think we had previously discussed this but you might want to consider getting some new batteries. Your batteries might just be overloaded which are causing all sorts of other problems.
I haven't had any problems with my tire glue yet thank goodness. Supposedly Traxxas used a different glue on these Sledge tires that's supposed to hold up a lot better to 6s power but I guess not. You're not the only person I've seen with tires coming unglued.
Yeah I heard that they had used a different process and the glue job looked different but it still sucks in my experience. To be fair though I have had to do a few touch ups on these tires too. They just don't use enough glue these days. It's too bad too because when the glue fails the tire will often end up ripping if you don't notice it right away and then people think that the tires themselves are weak. Thanks for another great sledge video. I really like those they look sweet. I have a set of non belted 3.8 trenchers and they are alot wider than factory. I had to but on a +10 mm hex but wow the sledge handles great with wide tires. Thanks again always look forward to your videos.

@@DoRC the rubbing on tie rod ends is because you picked the kraton,erevo offset. The maxx,lmt offset is about 16mm more outward. How has the glue job held up for you?

The additional rotating Mass will definitely put more stress on the drivetrain. Whether or not that leads to breakages is not known. So far mine's been fine though I do have the upgraded ring and pinion gears. I wish I could give you a more solid answer but until more people run heavier tires on this truck it's just an unknown. Did you notice a difference in motor temps or have to change gearing?. Would look amazing if you lost the wing and mickey mouse a Chevy C10 proline body onto it😁
No I haven't really noticed a change in the temps. They were ice cold before and they're still ice cold. I have a fan on there as well though. To be honest it could probably use one more tooth on the pinion to make up for the smaller tire size. Actually planning on getting rid of the wing and putting another slash bumper on the rear. Probably keep the stock body though :-)
Seems pretty good. I personally like to slide around some and it felt just right to me so I'm guessing lateral traction isn't the best :-) I've definitely felt worse though. I think the trenchers aren't as good as these laterally.

I was thinking about the Fling King tires for my Sledge too, but they aren't available in Germany. So I have ordered the Pro-Line Badlands MX38 Belted, they should arrive tomorrow. The only issue I have found with the mx38 belted is that they don't balloon as much as some other tires so air control isn't quite as good. Other than that they're great tires! Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)

@@kasperstasiewicz4965 for my type of bashing they would be. It just depends on the type of bashing you do. If you're doing mostly stunts and jumping I think non belted is better. If you're doing a lot of high-speed flat running then belted might be better
My Sledge is stock in every respect that matters for the tires so I would say yes :-). The only issue is that the insides of the wheels will rub on the tie rods a little if you don't reduce your endpoints or add some small extensions. Very nice vid dude but 1 thing, from this vid you could be running backflips on there on that surface and u would have same or very similar results. Surely to actually do a true test on these tyres and give people a true comparison u need to run it where u can get some speed up to see how they do or don’t balloon, and if that much tyre can hold up to open spaces IE un glueing etc because of speed as there’s so much rubber on them unless there belted there not going to be much good at speed. I liked the vid , I just think we need to see a more complete test before recommending them for people to buy
I suppose it really depends on the type of bashing that you do. Honestly this type of tire is going to be inherently inappropriate for high speed running so I didn't really see I need to try to run them at high speed. These are specifically dirt slinging stunting backyard bashing kind of tires. There are far more appropriate tires for high-speed running. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
@@DoRC sorry u miss understood what I meant, rather I probably explained badly. What I meant was, people like myself that run at a MTB track. (a small one with very close together jumps) I run a kraton exb with a hobbywing max6 combo, so 1650kv w 50/20 gearing and obviously on 6s Problem I have where I run it’s all grass and the ground isn’t level so I can get to about half throttle, maybe a little more. The jumps are about 5-8ft high. So say I’m running at 35mph, are these tyres gonna hold up to backflips when you’re already travelling at 35 or so mph I didn’t intend to create the impression that these are for speed but I would say there’s more people that are going to want to use the tyre as an all round one being as the hobby can be expensive. This is what I meant by true comparison because u put the tyres in a pretty select scenario. I’m honestly not sure if I’m explaining myself very well here but I hope you understand what I’m trying to ask. Sorry if I’m just creating confusion!
@@Soilhalo77 I get what you're saying and I have run them at modest speeds without too much issue. They do balloon but not as much as I would have expected them to. I have had to do a little bit of re gluing on them but that seems like the norm these days. Doesn't seem like anybody knows how to glue tires other than Arma and team corally.
@@DoRC I agree 100% ! U spend £100-150 on new tyres that are perfectly balanced but within 5 mins they come unglued. Proline are good but still if u run a buggy that can hit 75/80 on tarmac they still blow but they shouldn’t. And after 5 mins u have un balanced wheels again! I think the only way to get new tyres to stick perfectly is to unglue them clean them up and take your time regluing yourself
Yeah fortunately I just don't really go that fast 90% of the time so it's not as much of an issue for me as it is for a lot of people. The vast majority of my bashing consists of just tearing up dirt and jumping over and over :-)
I'm running 4S backflips right now how much bigger diameters are they, Might have to go 6s they look much heavier than those, probably would need to drop a few teeth on the pinion.
Best options right now for 1/10 scale would be either a granite or a team associated mt10. I don't have any experience personally with the mt-10 but a lot of other people do and they are very happy with it. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!

Depends on what vehicle you use them in. They really aren't that heavy definitely heavier than some tires their size and I wouldn't suggest running them on something with plastic in the drivetrain but the most part I think they'll be fine.

I've owned four kratons over the years and then say that the Sledge is at least on par with them. They both have their strong points in their weak points but I think the Sledge handles better and the chassis design is stronger. Those look like they would be good for sand and snow but still usable in dirt. I wonder if they would fit on the Kraton 6s with those smaller wheels
I don't have one to test it on but I suspect they might be too small. I think they make larger ones for the 1/8 scale vehicles

If you mean the hex adapter then yes it does and it attaches with 10 screws very similar to how the proline ones do

It's kind of the same with the glue on any tire these days I think. I just keep an eye on it for the first few sessions and reglue wherever necessary

Proline are good but still if u run a buggy that can hit 75/80 on tarmac they still blow but they shouldn’t. And after 5 mins u have un balanced wheels again! I think the only way to get new tyres to stick perfectly is to unglue them clean them up and take your time regluing yourself
Yeah fortunately I just don't really go that fast 90% of the time so it's not as much of an issue for me as it is for a lot of people. The vast majority of my bashing consists of just tearing up dirt and jumping over and over :-)

Looks like the tires are the exact same size. Only hub adapter is slightly different.
I'm running 4S backflips right now how much bigger diameters are they, Might have to go 6s they look much heavier than those, probably would need to drop a few teeth on the pinion.

Best options right now for 1/10 scale would be either a granite or a team associated mt10. I don't have any experience personally with the mt-10 but a lot of other people do and they are very happy with it.

Depends on what vehicle you use them in. They really aren't that heavy definitely heavier than some tires their size and I wouldn't suggest running them on something with plastic in the drivetrain but the most part I think they'll be fine.

personally Pro-Line's Velocity 4.0" Zero offset Wheel with there h pin tire handles the best .

The best upgrade for your Sledge is a Kraton.
I've owned four kratons over the years and then say that the Sledge is at least on par with them. They both have their strong points in their weak points but I think the Sledge handles better and the chassis design is stronger.
Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the kratons and I've enjoyed everyone I've had but the Sledge is good too :-)
