Very nice video as usual, Vitavon prices have gone up and I would have really have to think is the upgrade needed? That gose for any upgrade from any of the after market companies, Vitavon also do a main gear and input gear in Hardened steel for the Arrma 6s /7s line up, Arrma shoukd had done this years ago as there diff are made from a poor quality materials, 11 Arrma vehicles I owned andvnow down to 4 down to poor diff quality.
I'm not surprised that their prices have gone up. Pretty much everything has gone up. Personally I never had any issues with the original gears but I know that others have broken them. Especially with the ability to run more power that aftermarket motor mounts are providing I think that these gears will be needed by some
Did you shim the diff or just little movement without washer diff? Mine is broken on front diff and I can see the diff just move without shim, plus diff pinion wear well worn only after around 8 run!!! I ordered two vitavon diff instead of traxxas after watched your video :)
Sometimes you will need to shim and sometimes you won't. It really just depends on the luck of the draw with your particular tolerance stack up. I have an entire video on differential shipping. Definitely a good thing to watch!
That was probably just done for ease of manufacturing. I don't think the tabs are actually necessary and are probably just there in the stock gears because those sorts of features don't really cost any extra when you are making sintered parts.
To be perfectly honest with you most of the time there really isn't any practical reason to upgrade them. Aluminum bulkheads will provide a more stable support for the gears which can help prevent them from getting torn up. Bulkheads do occasionally also get broken. For the most part though it's an upgrade just to upgrade :-) they sure do look nice though!
For $800 you can get a pro kit truggy from a different brand that comes with machined gears stock. Then you just have to buy motor & exhaust or ESC, radio, receiver, servos, wheels and tires, and body paint😅🤑
@@RobFRC You're comparing apples to oranges. The sledge isn't a race truggy, it's a basher. You can get an Arrma Kraton RTR and it has machined gears and better quality aluminum and is cheaper. You can get a Kraton EXB roller with all the 7075, put in a motor/esc/servo for around the price of a Sledge. There is also the Corally Kronos RTR or XTR both have machined gears, one is cheaper than a sledge the other similar price after equipped. HoBao buggy/truggies all equiped with machined gears. HPI just announced the re-release of the Vorza buggy/truggy. Same price as the Sledge but better equipped and all have machined gears. I'll say it again, I like Traxxas products, but the Sledge is over priced for it's quality of components.
I don't usually put links in my descriptions because I don't want people to think I'm getting kickbacks and also eBay links tend to change a lot. But if you just search eBay for Sledge and vitavon you'll find them. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
Yea I’m trying some GPM stuff too. I got there axles that I’m trying out now and I got there front and rear hubs and carriers to see how they hold up. So far they doing good. I think I will try vitavon if these don’t hold up. I also just put all the M2C stuff they offer right now on it too. I do want that vitavon servo mount it looks awesome.
Do you mean the stock part number? If you do you can find that by looking up the exploded view for the sledge on Traxxas website. All the part numbers are available in there. Thanks for watching if you enjoy the video a sub is appreciated:)
No. They are just an aftermarket manufacturer. They're going to look fairly similar to the upgraded stock parts because they serve the same function and fit in the same location but they're not exactly the same.
No. Since they are the same ratio you can change just one or the other or both. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub to my channel is appreciated :-)
These aren't the gears that you would change to give you a higher top speed. That's the spur and pinion gear on the motor and center differential. These differential gears only come in one gear ratio. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
VITAVON they really do make a lot of quality parts he working on something for me now and hopefully for real public real soon I'm so super excited I just talked to him yesterday and yeah some things in the happening in the mix if he actually does what I talk to him about yesterday instead to turn some things upside down
Im really afraid to keep spending money in this shitty car, it has only been issues. I spent 100$ in new tires and now I have to spend 100$ in diffs… 1000$ from the already most expensive truggy in the market…
It is expensive but you're going to have to do upgrades to basically any vehicle and this is a good durable vehicle overall. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
And soon as you land that sledge with all that newly added weight. Your gonna be replacing the chassis.. I wanted a sledge but them cheap ass chassis bend way to easy.. the motor mount in the sledge is the weakest link in that whole car.. barely supports the motor on one end.. soon as that aluminum chassis flexes your into a new chassis
Actually my stock chassis held up very well. I have since replaced it with vitavon though:) for the most part people seem to have good luck with the stock chassis from what I've seen. Thanks for watching if you aren't subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Ordered the vitavon sledge battery tray setup!! Looking forward to see how you’re upgrades go!
Yeah I saw that battery tray. Pretty sweet! Can't wait to get the stuff installed too :-)
I will definitely be getting these pinion and spur gears.
Still happy with mine. They seem to hold up well!
Seriously thinking about grabbing one of these to run around instead of my track buggies/truggies.
It's a pretty awesome truck. Expensive but so far I've been very happy with mine!
Could someone explain the reason to upgrade the bulkheads?

Back in 2006 or 07, I paid over $1,000 USD for a pair of 7075 aluminum bulkheads for T-maxx. Vitavon prices are very cheap for what you get.

Just ordered Vitavon gears for my sledge and they must have changed the design. Mine doesn’t have any tabs on both sets that I bought.
That was probably just done for ease of manufacturing. I don't think the tabs are actually necessary and are probably just there in the stock gears because those sorts of features don't really cost any extra when you are making sintered parts.
I love Vitavon all my trucks has Vitavon.
Yeah definitely good stuff. I've got a big pile of shiny parts going on in the next video :-)
I can’t wait to see it. That’s the only truck I don’t have yet. Key code yet hahaha.
Should be out soon :-)
Great review 👍
Thanks:)
I got the Vitavon bulkheads and some other pieces on my Maxx and they're wayyy too high quality for the price. Amazing upgrades.
Definitely good quality stuff!

Lot easier to change out a broken control arm in the field than a bulkhead😎
True but broken bulkheads are pretty uncommon especially on the Sledge
nice upgrade ..what pinion and spur are you running for the standing backflips ..that really looks awesome 👍👍✌
Stock gearing
I like Traxxas vehicles but for $800 the Sledge should come with the machined gears stock.
Personally I never had a problem with their stock gears but yeah it would be nice if they came with them from the factory.

@@DoRC True enough.
Are the Vitavon driveshafts the same length as the OEM part? Thanks!
They make stock length and wide length ones as far as I know. You can check on eBay for the specifications
awesome video

Can you provide any links to where you purchased the gears.

Awesome can’t wait for more vitavon. What gears you running in this video ?
Stock. I'm going to be doing a GPM upgrade video soon as well to see if GPM has improved their quality. I have a GPM spur to go in as part of that.

What's the part number for the front differential gear

@@jamiewellman6986 I'm not sure there is a specific part number for it. You can just go on eBay and look up vitavon sledge gear and find it that way.
Nothing to complain about here!
yeah definitely looks like a good upgrade:)
Is vitavon a OE or OEM, ODM supplier? these look like the upgraded stock parts.

You're welcome :-)
Did you weigh the Vitavon ring gear?
No but given that it's very similarly dimensioned to the stock one I don't think the weight would be much different
It's very delicate 👍😎👍😁😁 enjoyed watching great video

Do these gears allow the 70+? or does vitavon not offer that upgrade in the spiral?
