Holy fucking shit this is one of my favorite soothsayer live I’ve seen. He was on fire at nyc last time as well and can’t wait to see him again in a few weeks. He’s killing it this tour and am so excited.
I was first turned on to BH not long ago. At first, I was like wow! Cool! But didn't go any further for a bit. I think I had to sink my teeth in slowly to this wonderful musician. Now...it's like therapy. I don't need to see his face to see him! He evokes powerful feelings.
I first heard him when my buddy Frank turned me on to some Praxis- Long long ago- I was just talking about it last night actually- In my book, Steve Vai is the best guitarist alive..maybe the best ever...modern day Paganini... Satriani and Buckethead are either 2nd and 3rd or tied for 2nd. Hard call to make. Brilliant, just brilliant, musicians, with technical proficiency that is untouched.
6:52 onwards that riff is from his another song called "Ever"... Any day any version of Soothsayer satisfies the souls and tears come down from the eyes... This is beautiful.. as always... :)
I think it actually predates "Ever". He uses it there, too, but he used it in many live performances of Soothsayer during his 2016 tour, as well. The Pike with "Ever" (245) was released in 2017. This riff also appears in the excellent "Other Portals" from Pike 246, "Rivers in the Seas".
@Jeff Watson sorry you cant feel magic. if Buckethead played this acoustic on a 100 year old catgut guitar it would still be magic and bring audiences to ecstasy. sorry for you
@Jeff Watson was that english? i think youre saying that real musicians dont use any effects. So musicianship has only to do with "effects"? youre a dummy. he's a Buckethead and youre a Dummyhead.
Damn !!! This live version is the best version of an already incredible song by a mile or two...Completely blown away by the intensity and the virtuosity of the man...
A day in Buckethead's life: 0800: Wake up and order a bucket of chicken from KFC for breakfast 0830: Eats his chicken, washes the bucket and leaves it to dry (I think even THE Buckethead isn't crazy enough to wear a greasy ass bucket on his head) and puts on a pre-washed one along with his plaster mask 0845: Arrives at his studio, pulls up a plastic guitar and plays Clone Hero with everything at 300% speed and overcharted for warmups 0900: Pulls out his signature Les Paul and starts shredding at random until he finds a particularly inspiring riff or whatever 0930: Finds a particularly inspiring riff or whatever 0935: Starts recording all the ideas that start flowing from his head 1230: Records 3 hours worth of tracks and stops for lunch 1330: Finishes lunch (KFC, what else?) and starts mastering and cutting the guitar he recorded in the morning 1430: Finishes mastering, calls up the album art guy and the people at the record company to start printing CDs 1445: Goes to Disney World 1830: Dinner at KFC on the way back from Disney World 1900: Watches the Cleveland Cavaliers game with his LeBron jersey on 2100: Gets ready for bed, even guitar geniuses need their beauty sleep 2200: Sleep shreds and records another album in his sleep
I am surprised at the negative comments. The guy can play. There are 2 types of artists, the fine artist or purist genius like Sabicas, Paco De Lucia, Vincente Amigo etc. and the entertainers .... both equally important .... let us be kind and supportive, the music industry is not easy and we all have to eat .... well done Clive, energetic and emotional performance..BRAVO ben I'm subscribed. you too.
It was a great show I loved it Buckethead killed it the i was just dissopinted with the way the venue is set up not alot of viewing space espically if you are short.
Two encores- Show ended approximately 11:30- give or take- We ended up at a bar in Santa Fe called The Matador- Holy shit-- If you ever get there, go check that place out- lol- Definitely an experience that I'll be taking in again though- Classic "dive" bar-- in the greatest sense- Good times!!

The song is "Soothsayer" I believe. Great energy there for the song. I was back in the corner toward where the final pan of this clip ends.
I was up above - to his left, about five windows down-
finally seein him live in 6 days...so pumped
Is just me or his humbuckers are glowing in the dark? Nice video btw.
