My god did he have an amazing voice. Completely natural, large range, with balls when he wanted it. A shame his talent lost the battle against his demons.
I think about Jani Lane everyday of my life. He was so underrated and such an amazing singer, songwriter, and musician. I miss him so much and I truly believe he was too beautiful for this world.
I think he had perfect pitch too. It takes a lot to be a really good-to-listen-to natural singer. All the stars have to align so to speak , and boy did they align in Jani❤
@@projectjaguar5638 I was always so impressed by his live voice. So many of the bands from that time and I won't mention any names they sounded great on vinyl but when they hit a live stage it was almost embarrassing. One famous frontman couldn't even really keep time to the music. Jani had as strong a voice at the beginning of the show until the end if his hair wasn't sweaty I would have thought this was the first number they did. He got better every year I can't even begin to imagine what we would have seen if he had been able to hang out with us for a little bit longer
I was in high school in the 80s. These guys were the best! They are my favorite. And Jani Lane was my favorite vocalist. Such a talent! And jani will always be missed by me
Warrant was never the same without Jani. Jani MADE Warrant. Jani you are and will always be remembered for your music and your brilliance. God bless and rest in peace, rock'n with the angels brotha!!
Man this kicks some ass!!!! They just don't make great bands anymore!!!!Anyone who makes fun of hairbands are paperasses!!!! they are true musicians!!!!
Just have to say keep going back to this but how the hell did motley and bon Jovi make it big and warrant were basically a 2min wonder, great band and fantastic vocals, RIP jani but you will never be forgotten as long as people like me keep posting and listening to your music, i was 28 when I first heard the band, nearly 60 now but still listen and love it, how many of today's music will say the same
One of The best singer and performence ! Love his energi and always love his fans. Je was always fun and always with all media and reporters happy and gave everything. A man who died to early .
I hate that i started liking this band too late :( as a 20 year old i missed Jani live, i dont think hes been in Scotland anyway since i was born. RIP Your music will be passed on through generations! I will make sure music like yours will inspire my kids as it has me 😊 just amazing, not enough words in any language to describe how amazing that voice was ❤️
So true. Was watching Mr.Big Back at Budokan this evening. Billy Sheehan+Paul Gilbert duo. Nothing Like it. Like fine wine. Wish Warrant went global... really do. So awesome!
Their first album inclusive of the song 'Big Talk' has blown away a wide array of people and the songs are very relatable as well as impressive. As such, the first album 'Dirty, Rotten, Stinking, Filthy Rich' does take the cake and still sits atop a pedestal among the rest of their albums per se.
Que buenos tiempos, gran show.
How the hell did motley crue become bigger than warrant, way better musically and Vince Neil could only hope in his dreams to have the vocal range of jani lane, such a sad loss at such a early age
@Artybruh The first concert I ever went to was on the tour the "Blood Sweat and Beers Tour" 1991 I was 12 my dad took me Trixter and Firehouse opened for Warrant it was a blast!
I'm so glad that someone takes these Tokyo concerts professionally. There is very little quality concert footage like this out there. I've said this before there's no better behave audiences in the world then Japanese fans. There's no question they're Rockin but there's never any fighting. I'm just trying to figure out where the enormous bra came from. Japanese girls aren't exactly known for having huge hooters. LOL
If Warrant had a better record label they would have been bigger. Open up and say ahh producer Tom Werman said the guys in Poison knew they werent great musicians. My opinion they had better people around them, label, managers, A&R etc. the people pushing Poison did a much better job than Columbia did with Warrant. Dog eat dog columbia drop the ball, Capitol still pushed Native Tongue even though the "grunge era" had begun and I think it was still a top 20 album hit that year. Dog eat dog is miles better than Native tongue and Poison did it without CC.
Steven Sweet has an interesting drumming style. I usually see drummers cross their right hand over their left to play the high hat, but he doesn't do that.
@cdawghimself seriously? Joey Allen has a taste for solos that's incredible! maybe their sound wasn't as great as Richie Sambora or Mick Mars, but he's still great
Just to add to my previous post, hair bands get a lot of bad press but while I'm sure some were not all that warrant were brilliant musicians who could cut in on albums and live performances unlike some I could mention, yes Bret Michaels and poison I am talking about you, loved poison on record but live.....
Cherry pie my ass. Still an OK song. But seriously...I met band way after so Cherry pie was not an influence and I've started with Uncle Tom's Cabin, Bitter Pill, Heaven, Big talk. Holy mate! That was some real HARD ROCK. Warrant was heaven before the song. Cheers!
@@therock1609 There was pressure on Jani to come up with a mainstream "hit." Jani, by his own admission, hated the song and thought it a blight to the band.

Michael Miller I agree..but just remember The royalties from cherry pie paid Jani extremely well at that time… And they’re still paying his estate today… So it’s not that great of a burden but I do understand the misdirection of your career
Imagine Jani still alive, how awesome would Warrant have been part of the stadium tour this summer, RIP
They would have blown everyone away ❤
I miss his voice and his spirit. JANI LANE IS WARRANT AND THE VOICE OF MY GENERATION!!!!!!!

His ex wife said he was drugged and raped. Which he never got help for. 😕

Jani Lane was a different class. Great vocal range, and such a super frontman. Sorely missed, but thank you for the music. #SeizeTheDay

I miss the late 80's and early 90's really bad.
This makes me happy seeing him sober and having fun!
We will forever miss you Jani!
Jani, I am glad you were there for the best time of my life. The 80s ruled. I miss you.

True talent. Jani was a great perfomer. All the band sounds awesome live. This band deserved much more, under rated.
Great Guitarist great solos alot of melody
I love how they come in with a big nod to old school rock

Jani's vocals are fucking tight ... perfect ...
always been one of the most underated and talented rock bands of all time, (the other is Mr. Big)
So true. Was watching Mr.Big Back at Budokan this evening. Billy Sheehan+Paul Gilbert duo. Nothing Like it. Like fine wine. Wish Warrant went global... really do. So awesome!
Talented, they had to bring in a session guitarist to write the solos on their records

Warrant ! You were so great at the concert in South Florida in 1991 ! What a night! Class of 1991 ! Equine Denistry !

If they broke in the early 80s they would have owned Poison, Ratt, ect.

1:32 - 2:00 I'm guessing that was Jani Lane's version of Sam Cooke - Having A Party

I think the only reason Steven Sweet was in the band was his back up vocals to Jani Lane.
Such an asset for any musician
