After watching what feels like 100s of videos on the next race shoe to buy, I could’ve saved all that time by watching the last minute of this video. Brilliant advice.
I bought a pair of these for Hackney because I needed a pair of race shoes and, having run in Asics for years, I feel like I can trust them to work for me. I ended up taking 5 minutes off my PB for a 1:21:36, better than my most ambitious target, so no complaints from me. Hoping they can work similar wonders over 26.2 in the autumn.
Fordy I have both the ASICS meta speed sky and the Adidas Pro 3 and and a couple of other carbon plated trainers. I would say the Pro 3 is far the best. The Sky is ok but I didn’t really propel me forward like the Pro 3. It’s still ok, but if I was attempting a PB I would go for the Pro 3.
I bought a pair via eBay. They were new and the owner just didn’t want them. So got them for 120. Worth the risk. I agree, it’s one of those shoes that appears to work over a certain speed. Which most super shoes require anyway. If you try to easy run in them they are not very comfortable and feel firm under foot. It was only when I briefly switched my music off did I realise I was marking so much noise. Lol. My personal favorite is the NB RC Elite 2’s. I’ve run many half marathons in them and they are so comfortable, maybe not the fastest but I finish in 1h 45m and my legs and body are perfect the next day. May keep the ASICS for shorter events to test them out and see how I go.
Not heard great things about things about the Adios Pro 3's. Love my Adios Pro 2's and did consider buying the 3 but was put off by various reviews. The first impression of the Sky+ was the clown shoe look of them due to the splayed out foam on the outsole.
I have the Edge+ and after running in them I can hardly walk for days after, it’s like running barefoot on concrete in my opinion. I’ve heard the Sky is softer, but if you are considering getting the Edge I think the position of the plate makes them leg killers
I have V.1 which got my 10k PB but seems harder work than the Vaporfly/Endorphin Pro or even the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro so have not upgraded to V.2, I'm getting excited about the On Running Cloudboom Echo 3 with the new CloudTec outsole...
I've done big PBs over 5km and 10km in the Sky+ (20+ seconds shaved off in each over Next%) and is my absolute shoe of choice for up to Half Marathon. However, after a half my feet feel absolutely beaten up in these, and I have found I need something slightly more comfortable for the Marathon
You have made me desperate for Adios Pro 3! Any tips for finding discounts. It's always the stupid sizes that are discounted. Even my kids don't have size UK 4.5 feet!
Great advice 👍 just get the one that is on most discount, got adi pro3 at 40%, saucony pro3 at 30%, do not have sky+ as asics is rarely on any discount in Australia, same as puma, so I do not run in those brands, am I missing out - maybe, but who cares - I don't 😊
Hey mate, not sure if you're still in the market for a pair, but pace athletic have 25% off the metaspeed sky plus and free shipping aus wide at the minute.
I find the Metaspeed Sky v1 better than the Sky+ Still have my Half PB in the Sky v1 but my Marathon PB is now in the Endorphin Elite. Never ran a PB in the Sky+ (closest I came was over 10k which was 4 seconds off a time ran in the Alphafly v1 earlier that year). asics will need to up their game again with the latest releases.
Man I really want to like this shoe because Asics. But this is the only racing shoe that I have, and I have most of them, that my legs are absolutely destroyed after running in
Totally agree with you. I cant understand how many runners are able to run a marathon in them. I much prefer Alphafly 1 or 2, Vaporfly 1,2 or 3, Adios Pro 2 or 3 and Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro (an outstanding and underestimated shoe)
This is my first super shoe I bought last year , from all I tired on these seemed to fit me the best and have ran all Distances in them including Manchester marathon this year and they were amazing over the distance . I found the Ff turbo took a good 25/30miles to fully break in then the shoe really comes to life .
I feel like I missing out on so many race shoes. I'm just an alphafly 1 or 2 guy. I think I'm 9n my 7th pair😂. I just can't see any other shoe even the vaporfly being better for me. But man I'm getting close to wasting 220 bucks. Either way enjoyed the email
If we’re going to have to be “that fast” to get the most out of the shoe, and only able to support for 5-10-21 k race..I’ll go for a Takumi Sen instead
Why do people buy this expensive shoe? You would need this only if you chase something like under 3 hour marathon. What is your PB, because you look way slower than that?
Fordy keeping it real with practical buying advice 👊
thanks bro

Thank you!!!
In my opinion these are the the best running shoes full stop. Bought my second pair the other week. Just love them.
I’m so glad they work for you

Proper place that Hackney....refined my game there ...fond memories!!!!!!
🗣💯thank you im getting them for my first marathon in October✅
Just got these for £140 on black friday. Really excited to give them a go at last, didn't expect the price to get so low
Totally agree with you. 🎉
love it thank you

I feel guilty setting this up.....just love your work fella. Keep on pushing towards Boston....

Simon ran his 10k pb in these so as you say you gotta be going for it
I got the adidas Adios pro 3 for £135 from the local adidas outlet a few weeks ago, worth checking your local stores to see if they have them in!
Good shout

Which tune for the firt minute?

Oh blimey
I don't think it's the plate position, the vaporfly has a similar geometry. It's just that the asics plate is a lot stiffer than others.
Let me know what they are like
The 2 are a complete different shoe to v1, v1 you have to work much harder but the sky plus feels far more forgiving
Mr Fordy would it affect my running if I use the metaspeed sky + and am a cadence runner

nice one 👍 and a nice Tank Top :D
Thank you
@@FordyRuns i think i have a slight problem with plated shoes. What tempo/marathon shoe do you think would be a good option insdeed?
Adios Pro 3 is smoother and more stiff and elastic. Sky v1 is faster and more comfortable than +. Perhaps the next sky version will be better than +.
I am waiting for the Magic speed 3
Looking forward to those

Keep cracking fordy. Your spot on. Your a little heavy in your behind for those kinda shoes. Up on your toes little fordy, and run forrest run
Yeah 100%

if it works it works
Edge plus?
Nah straight meta
@@FordyRuns have you tried it? Everything I'm reading makes me think the Edge Plus would work well for me. It's more rockered and lower drop.
@@Fozzee.1970 i have mate BUT kofuzi recommend them so it’s gotta be worth a try

If you want a fast shoe buy the metaspeed sky V1.
It's much better.
You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.

Can't understand this dude properly- even subtitles doesn't help. Uk 😂

Good morning. Interesting test about the Msky+. Like to Fordy. Have great day. 🌤️🏃🌞
