I'm 70 and I'll love this hit. (2023) It takes me right back to high school.
Absolutely and punching it up on the juke box at the after school coffee shop. This & Judy In Disguise really takes me back
Feeling the same way, hearing it in the car at 63. 2/24
Miss those days when you had table top jukeboxes. Great music, food and friends. Those were the days.
Who in 2024 is still listening to this great group from the 1967s? Best music in the world came from 60s and 70s!!
I was nine years old when this came out (1958 baby). Loved it then on my transistor radio, and love it now. Spot on with the best music in the world during 60's and 70's.
This is 1967 perfection. I was a senior in HS. We cruised around in my buddy's SS Chevelle blasting this song. What a great time!
With me it was a 1965 Goat!!
👍
67 SS Chevelle You lucky Son of a Gun
muscle cars & rock n roll on the 8 track!
In the 80s it was ''My Best Friends Girl'' by The Cars. Driving my '68 Mustang. Building an LS G-body. Looking at 450 hp NA. Just have to learn how to tune with laptop now.
This is so beautiful! Can't let this die!. And this is coming from a 23yr girl I've heard this song from late night tv for the first time and years later im still coming back to it because it's a masterpiece! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I discovered this in 1999 and loved it since. I was the only middle schooler who loved 60's music
it is a master piece. Heard this throughout the 90’s
I was born in the 80s , my parents listened to what we called the oldies back then. I didn't care for their music much back then but I almost love all the songs they grew up listening to including this one.
@@alwayslearning0586 Glad you came around! This is the greatest time period for music in history!!
In 1967 I was thrown out of a car in a wreck and lived. It was a Great Year with Great Music! This song is 1967 to me!
I survived a head-on motorcycle accident with just a few bruises, August 31, 1967. That's when I came to believe in my guardian angel; I should've had a shattered left leg at the least.
@@indy_go_blue6048 Don't say that, You survived for a reason just kidding. The same thing happened to me I was driving to my part time job to pick up my check with my brother and my cousin. I was totally T-boned and I only broke my nose. They were not hurt at all. Whenever someone in the family would get a new car my aunt Della would sprinkle holy water on the car. So mom said to my aunt So much for your holy water?! And my aunt replied OH Alice if I hadn't put holy water they all would have died LOL. Can somebody top that one??? Arnold Bourbon Amaral
We were so proud of the Buckinghams here in Chicago. Bought their greatest hits CD, listen to it all the time, never get tired of them. Had the pleasure of seeing them live a few years back, they still sound great and the two original members Carl and Nick have aged very gracefully.
Is their original drummer Jon Jon still kickin'. Excellent drummer with innovative fills.
Saw them a couple of years ago playing with the Happy Together tour
I saw the Buckinghams play once (or twice, I don't remember) at the Surfside Inn, in Round Lake, IL(~40 N of Chicago). I grew up ~1/2 miles from there. Incidentally, I also saw the Flock, Siegal-Schwall Blues band, Jambalaya, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and others. God was watching me as I enjoyed a marvelous upbringing, and AND live to talk about it. I'm 67 yo., Now a days I'm into good bluegrass. The journey one travels. Be safe and stay healthy.
Wow! I was born in Chicago and was ten when this came out, and I had no idea they were from Chicago-I thought they were English! But then, I'm black, and though a few white people lived in our neighborhood, I'd never seen anybody but the Beatles who wore their hair like that. Wow!
63 years old and this song still makes my toes tap and feel like cruising!
Was in Basic Training hell at Fort Ord, CA and knew that I was headed for Viet Nam after that and AIT. The cooks had this on A.M. radio at breakfast in the mess hall. Weather was freezing at 6 A.M. but I was eating hot oatmeal and milk covered with heaps of sugar and the 4-5 minutes doing that and listening to this song were enough to get me through the extreme home-sickness and the drill instructor screaming at us all day. Always loved this song.
+ctrainforever Glad you made it back from Nam. That was one sad war,I had my father and an uncle over there then dated a guy whose father was killed over there, his plane was shot down,he was the pilot, dragged to a village and tortured, etc,Awful times.I was at Ft.Ord too, my ex was stationed there after this AIT at Ft. Rucker. I sure loved music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Great memories when I hear a song from those times. I'm 59 now and miss the music we had. Take care.Keep the music alive..
super sweet
what company ? A-2-3 OR ?
This daughter of a Vietnam Veteran thanks you for serving. Welcome Home..
My friend, I was just finishing up AIT at FT Knox and already received orders to report to South Korea when this song came out. Great song.
I’m 33. Have been listening to this since I was a small child. So grateful for our parents music.
Ah, the sounds, the hair, the heartbreak and the HARMONY of the sixties! BEST EVER!!!!
My brother and I sang this song as young kids!! I still sing it now at 66 years old. Lol
I love this song. The Buckinghams totally nailed it. Love it!!!!!
It is kind of a drag
YA ONE OF MY FAVOURITES AS WELL,TOTALLY NAILED IT IS RIGHT ON.
That was their best ever.
Totally captures the 60s sounds.. Never gets old!!
I was in sixth grade. I still know all the words thanks be to God. I'm 61.
61 here bass.
Great memories of our youth
62, now.
I was born in 95 it's truly captivating to see the anemoia of older people's nostalgia it's so axiomatic and introspective of the universe
Such a great song...takes me right back to a certain guy...:).
I’m only 25 but I absolutely love 50s, 60s and even the 70’s. Doo Wop is my favorite genre and The Beach Boys are the best band to ever exist. This older music just radiates such great energy, used to think I didn’t like music til I found this stuff the music the majority of the younger people my age listen to is so trash 🤣
Well, isn't he is just the cutest thing. I should have grown up in the 60's. Best music. 💙 Love this song.
I used to hear this tune all the time on the radio. I was 5 years and remember it vividly!
Brings back memories to remember back on the old day's.love it never forget the good memories in your life
Give this one a chance. Oh Where Oh Where Is Love from the Kinks. ruclips.net/video/j1kNodOp1Fg/видео.htmlsi=YMpo4Z4_XOn5nQOI
LOVE HIS VOICE. DREAMBOAT!!
"That's right, Cindy. It's twenty-three minutes past the hour, and now here's the Buckinghams with 'Kind of a Drag'" (thump)
Same
I loved you in Wall Street!
God I love that movie!
I’m so glad this is among the top comments for this video.

I Love The Old Music You Just Can't Get Any Better Than This.
William Bradshaw WHERE DID THE GOOD TIMES GO????
❤
When I was a kid and this song was a hit I always thought the opening lines were "Canada Dry". I could never figure out why he was singing Canada Dry until I came to learn the song's title. Anyhow, I love this song from my childhood.
Thats funny, my mom told me when she was a kid she always thought it was Canada Dry as well
Youre old
haha Me too!

Former Buckingham Marty Grebb passed away on January 1st, 2020 at the age of 74...
He was a talented multi-instrumentalist who was a member of the Chicago pop rock band The Buckinghams from 1966 until 1968. The band needed a keyboard player and Grebb was with the band for their biggest hit songs including “Kind of a Drag"...
After his Buckinghams stint, Grebb played with Bonnie Raitt for 25 years and worked with major musicians including Eric Clapton and Leon Russell. He also was a member of the Band tribute band, the Weight, which included former members of the Band and Levon Helm’s band...
May he R.I.P.
Best era of really fabulous songs ❤️
What memories. I was 10 yrs old just started listening to the radio. Wish i cud go back and stay there. 8)
amsedelm same man same the nostalgia
amsedelm me too!
Ok
+lenspaulding Makes you feel better does it? Calling someone dumb, because of what? You should have facts to back yourself up, otherwise you need to know, YOU are the only one who actually looks dumb with your comment. Have a nice day.
+Jack Jammen just one more time....I Hate rock music especially songs that are wimpy like this one! (Making a fool of yourself over some twat)....and how many young men were influenced by this crap.
I heard this song when new and loved it.I was a child, but understood the lyrics of these songs...and they all had a good tempo.
You'll find yourself singing this song all day.
Such wonderful memories ❤️
Awesome song!! I remember this song on the radio in elementary school!!
The Buckinghams along with Gary Puckett and the Union Gap were my favorites during the great 60's.
And the Grass Roots.
drummerman Puckett's "Young Girl" is a little disturbing nowadays, which is okay, but I wasn't thinking about any of that while lip-synching into my upended Brut bottle mic before a mirror.
I especially love the organ solo in the middle.
Yea me too, my favorite part, especially with the rest of the music.
@@lianelayman7577 Marty Grebb is playing keys. He was also with Leon Russel for a long time and I had the please to play with him when we were both touring with Maria Muldaur.
That might be a musitron.
The late great Marty Grebb on the Farfisa organ 👍
I do, too, but what is he doing with his left hand when he suddenly jabs or points over the right one?
Always loved this song.
I have a movie idea based around this song. Ive been listening to it over and over!
Heard this in the winter with Mom as we were eating in an Italian restaurant in Fair Haven. Snow-falling; she had a fight with Dad, and I was her 11 year-old son for all time.
ah, yes! 8th grade! Love this song! Talent like this seems to be gone now. So sad.
+hhhunt777 I was 6 but I remember this song.
Gotta just say, you two are just beautiful! Hope you're as happy as you look! 😊 Good days, long gone, quite sad, for sure. Glad we all share such lovely memories and the music, still, though. Stay happy.
For years and years I misheard this song lyrics as “Canada Dry” like in the soda brand.
Love this group they were awesome in their day
maximo nas festas
Que temon inspira nostalgia de los 60s maravillosa época me recuerda mi niñez vivan los 60s
I wore out this 45 at my grandparents house, I was only grand kid, good memories, kinda makes me tear up
I love the fact that in no other era could a song have this title-and it's so beautifully _understated_ as an observation.
I Wish We Had Music like This today is When Had Years Ago
I was 14, great times and memories!!
Great Song And Great 👍 Harmonies. Pete sr
Another 60's classic...
I loveeee this song!!! One of a kind original. Love the music from this time period so much. 👍
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent passing of a great musician and friend, Frank Tesinsky, who is responsible for creating the pop rock horn sound for The Buckinghams. RIP Frank...
Proud to have him as our own Cicero street cat I heard he still comes around to preform
One of my favorites when i was 9 . Awesome song.
I am 52 best music ever
It's funny how those guitars produce the sounds of trumpets.
It's the keyboard.
This is the group sound with horns that inspired Al Kooper to start Blood Sweat & Tears
@@elkartian Is that true? Brilliant. I love Blood Sweat snd Tears. I never knew that. Thanks.
😂😂😂😂
On the money !!!! Great memories from the 60's.
Love this song!!
Still do!!❤❤
Love this song.
I have always loved this song. I keep listening to it over and over again. Thank you for posting it.
No auto-tune needed when you have a voice.
This auto tune business for people who can't sing, to me, has to be the worst scandal in the popular music business. It's worse than the payola scandal in the 50's or 60's, but everyone seems to accept it. I don't even like bands where everyone doesn't play an instrument and one or two people "only sing." I guess my prejudice came from watching the Beatles where everybody played an instrument and later seeing the Rolling Stones where Mick Jagger "only sang" (and maybe shook some maracas). Its like "can't you walk and chew gum at the same time?" So many who could and did play guitar (and/or keyboards/bass/drums/etc) and sing at the same time. Besides the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carole King, Buddy Guy, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Steven Stills, Tracey Chapman, Esperanza Spalding, Don Henley, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix, Carly Simon and so many more.
Lenny Hendricks I agree but at the same time I think it’s fine for band to have a vocalist who doesn’t play an instrument. They still contribute a lot like good vocals (not autotuned), great frontman ship, songwriting which is incredible important. Also Jagger would pick up a guitar once in a while if the band needed him to. I like Elvis but he only really played an instrument half the time and he didn’t write many of his songs. Still like him a bit though since he wasn’t auto tuned and made a good show. Imagine The Doors without Jim Morrison.
Jagger plays and sings and the Beatles were just the band the press latched onto to push an agenda. The Beatles were just an o.k band talent wise!
And talent
These guys still have it! Tour with Herman's Hermits.
The Buckinghams, The Cryin Shames and the New Colony Six...great memories of Chicago bands in the late sixties....
The Cryan Shames were from Chicago, the Cryin' Shames were from England. crazy, huh?
Love it.. but it was June 1966, I remember the day I graduated HS,, this song came on the radio. thx for sharing :)
The album was released December of 66.
This is my favorite Buckinghams song. The "Anyway" part is my favorite part in this song that makes it great!
Saw the Buckinghams when they opened for the Beach Boys at the Bushnell in Hartford, CT
Great music!!
The women really loved this guy.
Women and 11 yr old girls like me..he was the cutest!
Still do and he's also a very guy.
Always loved this song and still do!
My very first 45 back in 65 . I'd just gotten my first stereo Christmas.
Memories!
I just saw The Buckinghams perform Kind of a Drag today at Naperville Ribfest on the 4th of July. Sounded pretty good.
When I was sixteen✨️ favorite song , I'm 70years old .... those were the days
Just graduated HS and lost girlfriend at same time. Wanted to get married, not me. Remember cruising out to meet my friends for a night of who knows? Never knew where you would end up. We were in Chicago and one night ended up in Bowling Green, KY. That is a long story. I remember the feeling of excitement as I always heard this song on the way out. Vietnam was always on our minds, but not those nights. Ended up there in 69 as many of us did. I will always be brought back to those nights when I hear this song. By the way, met girlfriend in 78 on the way to my wedding practice. She didn't recognize me.
I recall being in the 6th grade and listening to this song on my grundig radio. Loved it!
A classic group with a classic song 👌
february 18th 1967 to february 18th 2017. a very special day. celebrating 50 years. congratulations on this landmark & once in a lifetime occasion. YOU SEE- ON THIS DAY, I WAS TWO YEARS AND 7 MONTHS OLD- WHEN THE BUCKINGHAMS WENT TO NUMBER 1 ON "BILLBOARDS" CHART WITH "KIND OF A DRAG". I'm 67 now and I still remember this song like yesterday . They don't make music like this anymore, and I think it is a shame.
Good memories of long, long ago . God Bless The Buckinghams Always . Ray Shuler & The Doors 10/26/16
I'm curious
Why did you mention the doors in your comment ? Interesting
Love this song 💞😍
Basketball season my sophomore season in high school. Great year for music. I changed schools the next year but really loved the years at this school. When you live in small community basketball is a big deal.
"Don't You Care" and "Hey Baby" are great, too...
My first 45 I bought cost like 50 cents still have it.
eileen jesmer yes Eileen still likes to dance to this song in the nude the old cow!
eileen jesmer probably worth Alot of money now
I remember when 45's were like 36 cents.
Wow. That was my first 45 ever too. Crazy.
@@lianelayman7577 Or 59 cents...
A really good song. Effective simple organ solo.
Boy this takes me back

Thanks for sharing actual GOOD music!
One of my ole time favorites !!!!!
What a great song by Dennis Tufano & The Buckingham's!
I love this video. As hard as it is to take my eyes off of Dennis Tufano - the dude could SING - I always get a rueful chuckle out of the "drum set." I know this was lip synced, of course it was but... everyone else at least has their instruments, and there's poor damn Jon Jon, stuck out there with nothing but a hanging tom and a pair of sticks to work with. He made the best of it, but still. LOL And it really doesn't matter - it was and is a great song in any case!
Back when the lead singers could actually SING - what a concept! They were pantomiming this, but they did record the song. Spring of 1967.
And after two weeks we all realized an unfaithful girl is a waste of love.
They were a great 60s band.
Dennis Tufano....you rock.
Groovy man!
Time LIFE music presents 😩 NOSTALGIA omfgoodnes my child hood late nights 😞
Saw recently on PBS ..he looks great !!
Coming from a 15 year old i love this song ❤
This song came out when I was in 5th grade. I have always liked it. But like some others, I originally thought the name of the song was "Canada Dry". You know, the ginger ale.....
Everyone did. We Philly area "kids" used to refer to it as "Canada Dry" everytime we heard it on the old white transistor radio as WFIL AM in Philly played it in heavy rotation, and would love to sing those words as the opening notes. Fun memories...wish we could go back...
I'll tell you what a drag is, when you turn 60 and grew up in the 60's listening to this great music
loved that song in the time i lived.... that drag love can b e through any lllov e...... trying to find it s self ...
a song that is a symbol of those special times.
Dennis has a great voice (still does, he's still performing)
And Dennis pasted on his looks on to his son, Paul Westerberg of the Replacements.
@@oppothumbs1 🤣😂🤣 Paul Westerberg _wishes_ he had those genes. He never had a day in his life when he looked that good. His father was a car salesman and he looks like the son of a car salesman.
Thank you for reminding me of the old days 👍subscribe
It tingled the transistor radios.
I was 10 growing up in Arica Chile Yeah baby!!
I’ve been loving this for a long time and I still love it now ♥️5/21/22
