    The drama mounts as these seasoned sailors survive a massive Hurricane and fight off swarming termites which appear after torrential rains. Truly amazing cinematography, great editing and another very entertaining episode. These Hasher's are certainly "Bloody Doing It"!

    I really enjoy your episodes. One of the things I like best is how you to work together (at least on the videos LOL). That time when you had all four hands on the Furler, I suppose one of you crawled between the legs of the other to be able to get everything within reach. It would’ve been fun to see the pretzel shape that you two formed when getting this job done.
    I am trying real hard to learn how to understand you with your accent. I am 80 years old so that is a big part of the problem. I have cousins in England and I can’t understand them either. I know it is fruitless to ask you to dial back your accent a little bit so I will continue to use the captions so that I can get every word you say.
    I am sure that you know that there are thousands of us who are living a dream life vicariously through you. Keep on keeping on.
    Dave.

    Another great video thank you guys. As a Brit living mostly in Florida the experience in your latest video was just a bit of a tropical storm. Believe me you definitely don't want to be anywhere near a hurricane, I've experienced several, my last was last September in Daytona, FL which ended with our evacuation hotel being evacuated to a high school. Safe sailing and keep the great videos coming. Sadly my sailing days are over but great to follow your exploits!

    For future reference, remember that certain chemicals such as borates and insecticides can be added to epoxy resin to create a more effective barrier against termite interest and infestation. You could place a light layer on your teak wood of such a mixture to greatly reduce the chances of problems. I know it's meant to have that authentic rustic wood look, but a light layer might not change the look very much. A fine grit sanding would give it back the traction for your feet and keep it from looking like shiny plastic.

    • @sparkytl4488
      @sparkytl4488 9 месяцев назад

      please dont do this to your teak decks!!
      just use a teak wash and oil them with teak oil. Termites hate teak and teak oil and will not touch it.

    Hi Guy's not wanting to be a party pooper but at time 22:00 the lower bolt on your new Bracket needs to have at least 3 threads showing to bring it into safety. At the moment the thread is still in the nylon insert of the nut this is not correct you need at least 3 threads showing, for it to lock correctly and not back out. Where the bolt above has about 8 Threads showing which is fine

    There are loads on termite control on boats in the US sites, dry wood termites are the worse for boats so I’m not sure the ones you experienced are of that species. Most chandlers in the US sell granules, foams etc. I bought a cheap stethoscope in Australia, listened to all my wood, you can really hear them easily, as soon as I heard them munching I got the fumigation man with six fingers in, generations of his kin had been in the buisness….

    ..... Hashers .... a friend of mine is part of the Hasher group here that are cross-country runners and it is all about getting to the beer at the end or so it is implied. My friend, she is also a Brit., got to Canada under pretense of visiting a pen pal here and worked hard to by herself tickets and at the airport her parents checked to make sure she had a return ticket, she was 15 if I remember correctly, anyhow, she ripped up the return portion of the ticket before the plane left the ground. Years later her mother and 3 sibs also ended up in Canada ..... Laughing ... swarms taken lightly until real name reveled.. I would be panicked for sure .. we've all seen the cartoons as kids as to what they do in a blink of an eye .. hence my laughing .. would not want anything to do with those things .... had to chuckle, at one point working on the furler there were four hands in the picture and someone must've been holding the camera, then realizing that two belong to Zach and one for sure Becca and a mystery hand .... Becca is the camera holder ..... I have thought growing up in Victoria BC I knew what heavy rain was, that I do not and have bin places where also where it just drops by the bucket load .... if you were in a anchorage you could have had a good shower .... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ......

    Wind force - it's clear from the video that some strong wind was blowing. The problem with city dwelling landlubbers is that the buildings around them slow wind down and they never learn the true value of the numbers in the Beaufort scale. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort_scale
    When the weather report says 6 Beaufort, citizens experience maybe 3, because of all the buildings. Then on the water, they don't know what's happening.
    What did not come across in the video was the real ("true") wind speed. As sailors of an ocean-going sailboat you have the meter that tells it. You could show that in the video for reference.
    It looked like 7 now, in the video - what was it?

  • @jpdj2715
    @jpdj2715 Год назад

    Forestay - see the wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forestay and picture in it. Before you started working on it, referenced it, such a picture would help the navally naive.
