Lot was the nephew of a man named Abraham. They lived in a city called Sodom, along with other nearby cities, which were known to be very evil and sinful. But Abraham was a righteous and good man, so he tried to help his nephew Lot whenever he could.
One day, God decided to punish these cities because of all the evil that was in them. He told Abraham that he would destroy the cities, but he promised to save Lot and his family if they were good.
Then two angels were sent to warn lot of impending destruction. They told lot to take his family and leave the city as soon as possible before it was too late.
Lot obeyed and warned his family about what was about to happen. But some of Lot's family members hesitated to leave, thinking he was joking or exaggerating. Even so, Lot, his wife and their two daughters managed to escape in time.
The Angels warned lot's family not to look back as they fled, but unfortunately lot's wife disobeyed and looked back with longing for the city. As a consequence, she turned into a statue of salt.
Lot and his two daughters were the only people to survive the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. After this destruction, they began to reside in the city of Zoar. However, for some reason, lot was afraid to continue living there, and together with his daughters, he took up residence in a cave.
Lot and his daughters managed to escape the destruction of the cities, but the tragedy left marks on their lives.
Later, lot's daughters, fearing that they would never find husbands, decided to make their father drunk and lie with him in order to have children. Then the firstborn said to her younger sister, "our father is old, and there is no man in the land to have intercourse with us according to the custom of all the Earth. Come, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie down with him, and let us preserve seed for our father."- Gen. 19.31, 32.
Their father's drunkenness suggests that they realized that lot would never have consented to having sex with them while sober. Thus they conceived two sons who became the fathers of the nations Moab and the Ammonites.
This is the story of Lot, a man who tried to live a righteous life amid the evil around him, but who faced challenges and tragedies along the way.
