That's a pretty easy, traditional method but my only problem with that version is the overlap in the back... I'd rather start by placing some of my belt at my side, followed by wrapping the long piece around my waist twice, then tucking the long piece under the two layers. After that you adjust and tighten the two flaps so the belt is tight and the ends are even. Finally you cross the two flaps and simply complete your knot. This also eliminates the overlap in the back, making it look more professional.
I guess is just a matter of preference. I never had a problem for the last 30 years doing it this way, but I know ppl who do it without overlapping. To me it's just a belt that holds my gi together and it works this way. Nothing wrong with both ways.
Hi. Just wanted to know, what is written on your belt? Presuming you are a 3rd Dan black belt by the number of stripes, how long did it take to reach 3rd Dan from 1st Dan?
