You know you're in the right place when all the comments are appreciating that freehand rip cut. The slab wasn't even clamped. Amazing (I know I can't explain how awesome this is to my friends lol)
You have some serious skill with a standard carpenter's saw my friend, very impressed with that first cut you made. Iv'e seen people not be able to do that with a band saw haha.
Inspirational. I have some of the same tools. My uncle gave me a hunk of wood that had some metal art on it but i think it had served as a cutting board b4 . I have a bullet neck with big headstock n maple frettboard. Also some fender USA pickups from a telecaster. Just gotta decide on bridge got a cheap tele copy wich wold be good but strange spaced saddles so tune o matic it may be.
i built a pine tele a few years ago ( video is on my channel somewhere ) and made me realize how much a tele sound depends on the crappy thin gauge metal and shape of the original ashtray design . six saddle version works best for me . the bridge on this tele gives great sustain but lacks tele twang
God help me, there's hope for me yet! If this guy can do this, then probably I could too. Make it up as you go, measure once, cut twice, eyeball it. And it works!
have a go - theres usually more than one way of doing stuff . my pinecaster sounds as good if not better than this , and was a more basic build than this
Why a Squre Strat type neck> I love the Telecaster headstock and IMHO should be Fender's trademark headstock for all models. Just curious, not trying to be nasty., you can even buy a Mighty Mite neck with a Fender decal ( no other wording) from stewmac now- all under licence, and at a higher cost. Nice wood to work with and good bright tonewood.. TJ from Oz.
ive always thought tele headstocks make perfect sense if you look at the back and the line of the machine heads , but lack a flourish from the front so ive never been a fan of the headstock shape . probably should have gone tele style in hindsight to pay homage to leo

Just curious. Is there a reason you prefer epoxy over titebond? I love titebond cause it's so easy to clean up. Is it a time issue? Theres nothing wrong with exoxy's. Hell a lot of major manufacturers are using them for things like setting richlite freatboards. And I actually love the richlite board on my Martin D10E so it cant be wrong lol.
@@neonpike It surely had we've had titebond since the early 1950s. Maybe this video is older than I thought lol. All joking aside give it a try. Its stronger than the wood and wipes away easily with a damp towel. Plus it blends in really well. A really popular way to use titebond is as a wood filler sorta like you did in the video (saw dust and titebond) but it will match the wood much much much better. So you wont have to put any effort into hiding the joints. Titebond is basically just a water based wood glue which is even easier to work with than hide glue or fish glue which us why it's one the most common guitar wood glue products if not the most common.
Looks like teak to me, do you need a crane to put it on. I suppose George Harrison had a rosewood one that's pretty heavy too! I don't think I would like to rip a big board like that!!
AWESOME VIDEO BUT THE MOERE I'M LOOKING AT THAT WOOD I'M NOT SO SURE ITS MAHOGANY. MAHOGANY IS LIGHTER AND NOT SO DENSE, YOUR PEICE HAS A SLICKER TOP AND ALMOST LOOKS LIKE MARBLE WOOD OR A REALLY DENSE PEICE OF SAPELE, I'VE BUILT A TON OF MAHOGANY GUITARS AND DO REALIZE THEY CAN DIFFER IN DENSITY AND COLOR. DOESN'T REALLY MATTER I GUESS AS LONG AS IT COMES OUT COOL,
thanks for the comments . ive had a few about the type of wood , so i asked around , and the current favourite is teak . all the time i was working it there was a pungent smell to the sawdust and its very heavy

If I could match those 4 corners with a hand saw I would be unbearable to live with for days.
nice work.
Seriously. That was an impressive cut.
amazing! i couldn't believe it. nice cut. very nice tele!
Lol
That was amazing indeed
That's some really nice wood and you did a great job. Also it shows that you don't need all the fancy tools out there just an idea and hard work.

That cut to reduce body thickness is insane dude.. And the amount of time and effort it takes to cut all the way through with the grain...
The cut with the saw was amazing, as was the rest of the video, truly inspiring, good job !
GUYS GOTTA HAVE ARMS LIKE POPEYE .
Spongebob squarepants
Wow! That is some hard wood! Looks heavy too! It's nice to watch a build where someone is just using basic tools. Very nice job so far!
74dart man ot
3 minutes in and I'm extremely impressed... looking forward to the rest of the vids.
man you are a terror with that saw ! must be GOOD and sharp !
These are the documentaries I like
Awesome, need to hear this build for sure!!
Amazing hand cut skill

Crazy handsaw work! No bench vice just grab the saw and go! You’d get a thumbs up from me if that was the end of the build LOL.
Respect !

I wish I had that that much time on my hands...good job!
hand saw you are a real pro.
Great job man.

That is some strong wood
Fascinating!
Great job!!! Greetings from Russia.
BEAST
Oh PS - if it wasn’t a 1.75” slab it wouldn’t really be a Tele. SGs are 1.25” thick and it causes control issues.
Boa Toninho!!!!!

it probably hadnt been invented then - it was a while ago !

yes it was too heavy , i sawed it in half and hollowed it out . now a reasonable weight
很棒

ive had quite a few comments on the wood type , and i think its teak - its now a hollow body guitar and is a more comfortable weight
Omg!
No hes not....splittiing that slab with a damn hand saw! Ive seen it all.
look at what basic tools will still do.
;-)... avec un manche type Stratocaster...
Where the heck is part 2!☠️
i dont know . i thought it would be next to part one . if you go to my channel - neonpike its on there
Nice piece of wood , but ruined it by not being accurate enough using proper templates shame really 👎👎
right , well no doubt when you put yours on , it will be absolutely wonderfull
Nobody likes a smart arse.
