Thanks for sharing your process! This build really topped all the other builds out there because you used very common tools and did most by hand. You answered many questions I had about building my own and thank you again! It came out fabulous ❤️
You did a great job, every aspect done by hand turned out beautiful...thanks for posting, and very well done editing ..no crazy music going on just the sound of you working, enjoyed it!
What a joy this video was to watch :) using conventional tools and perhaps an unconventional way of doing it I enjoyed every minute, and no doubt was just as excited as you to see and hear the finished product...and both didn't disappoint. Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous! One of my favorite builds! And I've seen many! To do all that with basic hand tools is incredible! You've created a fine instrument! Sounds really nice too. Bet that mahogany makes for good tone! I have much respect for what you have done!
One of the best build from 100s of vids I've seen so far, the TONE and SUSTAIN instantly is awesome immediately ...wow superb build from a real piece of wood. Thanks
Thanks for the great video. I’ve just come across some mahogany from a pianola that I’ll turn into a Tele so your two videos are very opportune and handy.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this vid. I'm about to start a clear pine tele project at home w / simple tools, and this was really inspiring. Really nice job...looks great.
thanks for that . i have a video on my site of a pine tele build from a few years ago . the one thing i would do differently is introduce wood hardener into the neck socket and body . still could i suppose
That was a great watch, thank you. I've just started building Teles, something about them, eh?! I'm planning on doing '72 Deluxe and the Thinlines too. That resawing of the body block must have hurt, haha! Well done!
this vid came up for recommended for you. I am glad i watched it! I picked up a few tips and it showed you can do it with basic tools and a lot of skill! I have started building guitars with a few more modern tools and one will be a pinecaster i cut with a chainsaw and a sg style guitar that i plan on building the neck as well that i will post when i am done. Thanks for posting!
I became addicted to this video..Now I'm going to try it..Good idea to go with the Squire neck case something went wrong..My second I'll go with the fender...Thanks for this
Very good video - excellent build. My only criticism would be the way you joined on the extra pieces of wood - made it difficult to blend in. A tidier joint would have looked better and saved time!
since this video the guitar has been made into a semi acoustic , so has another joint around the sides . ive sprayed the whole back black and put a black burst on the face , so no more scars !
Very cool, I built my own out of Mahogany, "The Hog" and Hog it was, it weighed a ton, sustained like crazy. I tried all sorts of things to lower the mass, very deep contouring/relieving etc, but nah, still way TOO heavy, had to ditch it in the finish.
Amazing job! Can you describe how you got the telesocket output jack flush with the wood? I see you started out drilling the hole with a spade bit and then seem to have used a round file, but it is not clear to me what tool/technique you used to get the lip of the socket to fit flush with the body?
Again another great tele build from you! One question: did you ever get install any string ferrules in the back if the body? because those string ball ends will dig into the wood over time.
i did , but also i hollowed the guitar out because it was too heavy . a few people commented that the wood is teak . i hope to put together a follow up video , with a better guitarist than me playing it
Mahogany is a heavy wood not as heavy as Teak, does have a heavy sound. Gibson was using mahogany in their acoustic guitars back in the 1960's I believe. Sweetwater is selling a Fender Made in Japan Mahogany Offset Telecaster .
Loved it when you knock that relief off with the hand saw....first go. Champion effort buddy, great work and a beautiful guitar. The numbers of people who saw this over the years is not indicative of the content. So the big question, after all is done.....Just how heavy is she? Edit: You may find her go out of tune a lot faster and more regularly without the little steel ferrules that hold the string in the back, but very easily remedied.
Great craftsmanship and gorgeous guitar but I think that is Imbuya not mahogany. The yellowish saw dust is a good indicator that is Imbuya a really hard and heavy wood glad to see you used a dust mask.
thanks , i,m not sure about the weight difference between the two woods . it would have made a great semi acoustic tele . the weight would have been halved and i,m pretty sure it would still have kept its sustain and tone because of its close grain - maybe next time i find a chunk of wood !!
lots of diff., mahogany, that looks like apitong, a dense tropical hardwood, they use it for skids, to ship heavy machinery, should still sound good though !
it was too heavy - it was pointed out by several people that it was teak . , ive sawn it in half and hollowed it out then glued it back again . i hope to put another video on showing the process and have a decent guitarist demo it
I've built guitars with both African and Philippine mahogany. That is not mahogany. Take the axe to an exotic wood dealer and he can tell you what it is. Bet you stumbled upon some extremely expensive exotic. You did a fine job by the way. Beautiful results! Well done sir.
i saw some templates on google images and although i couldnt get a full size one , i downloaded it and re- sized it in photoshop to the dimensions of a telecaster - then printed it off i also had a squier tele and a scratch plate to refer to
because there was one on each side , and it was fine grain , i thought it would be a bit obvious it had been extended . on my pine tele , i would have left it
i have usined copper self adhesive tape on other guitars , ive no idea why i didnt here , as this was the most difficult to do - ive hollwed the body out since making this video so would have had to take it out anyway - no feedback or too much hiss so far so i will leave this one
theyre squier strat pickups - i adapted the bridge one for tele bridge fixing . they were in my bits box . now i know it sounds ok , i might try others .
Thanks for sharing your process! This build really topped all the other builds out there because you used very common tools and did most by hand. You answered many questions I had about building my own and thank you again! It came out fabulous ❤️
Beautiful build. You're an inspiration for everyone who doesn't have a workshop full of Stewmac tools.
Great video, congratulations for being generous and sharing your experiences!
thank you

That wood looks very old, dry and hard, this Tele should rock like a les paul!! great job!!
adds new meaning to the term "rock guitar". That timber is soooo heavy and soooo hard!
yes , thats why its now a hollow guitar
Love your no nonsense fullspeed ahead build style, and the wood is beautiful! Thanks for sharing the build .bravo!
You're a man of few words. Thank you for your efforts and sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous! One of my favorite builds! And I've seen many! To do all that with basic hand tools is incredible! You've created a fine instrument! Sounds really nice too. Bet that mahogany makes for good tone! I have much respect for what you have done!
thanks . had a few comments which made me doubt its mahoganie - its probably teak
the guitar bulding video was amazing and so mesmerizing, and the epic end with he playing The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary.
One of the best build from 100s of vids I've seen so far, the TONE and SUSTAIN instantly is awesome immediately ...wow superb build from a real piece of wood. Thanks
That is beautiful!
Nice work! Sounds great!
Enjoyed watching this build very much! A true craftsman.
Thanks for sharing this build. Good to see a build where you don't need special tools. Cheers!
Wow, A Lot of work went into that Beauty! FanTastic Job! A True Craftsman!
Thanks for the great video. I’ve just come across some mahogany from a pianola that I’ll turn into a Tele so your two videos are very opportune and handy.

That sure is a beautiful rich brown mahogany body. Love the natural finish you put on it.
A real labour of love. That is one tough slab of wood! Well done mate.
Nice throwback to 1985 at the end there! :) Great job!
Great looking piece of wood and nice job! I do have to admit that the highlight of the build was u playing the Cult on ur fine piece of art!!!
thanks , class track
can we take a collection and buy this guy a workbench?? lol looks great!!!
That was a great watch, thank you. I've just started building Teles, something about them, eh?!
I'm planning on doing '72 Deluxe and the Thinlines too.
That resawing of the body block must have hurt, haha! Well done!
After all these years i should no longer be surprised, but amazing !
I'm planning a walnut teardrop with a tele neck and les paul hardware. This has helped me realise that i might just pull it off. Thanks.
Very good job! Leo Fender would be impressed, like i am.! Thanks for sharing!
Great Job on A Beautiful Guitar..!! Thank You for a Wonderful Video..!!
A lovely build showing you dont need hi tec tools but just hard work and determination 👍🏻
Came across thisby accident and it is awesome helps alot too putting together my own right now!

i will be interested in how you get on with the neck , ive done a ukulele one - no truss rod - but not a guitar yet
i will be sure to reach out to you when i get it going!
nice building with minimal tools great
Hello Sir, Very good job! Great sound * ** * A True Soul's guitar * * *
Nicely done! A keeper for sure.
Very nice Tele style guitar - Thanks for the video - I now know what wood my Tele copy is made of - mahogany.
neonpike She's gonna be heaaaaavy...but beautiful! Great job! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Dave.
I like the black headstock
Great job. Looks and sounds amazing
thanks
I like seeing professional at work
Beautiful guitar. Nice work.
thank you very much
I became addicted to this video..Now I'm going to try it..Good idea to go with the Squire neck case something went wrong..My second I'll go with the fender...Thanks for this
Congratulations, I would like one. Beautiful!
Well done...it sounds lovely.
Well done keep up the good work
unbelievable craftsmanship.
wow thank you
Handsaw MASTER. Respect!
Great work and fascinating to watch, thanks
That looked painfully awesome lol
Lovely guitar , should sound great .
Fair play to You neonpike.. a lot of hard work
You make it look easy!
i struggle with the circuitry . after a fair few builds and mods it does get easier
@@neonpike Do you build left handed guitars?
i havn,t no , but i dont build many
I also built a Stratocaster style; I love mahogany and her perfume.
1:03 It's Bob !!! Honestly, turned out beautifully and the tone was very nice - not as trebly as a tele, which is cool w/ me.
that came out amazing
nice wood to work with , would make a good semi acoustic
Thanks man I'm inspired I will build my own
amazing!! sounds great
Parabéns, ficou muito bonita sua guitarra 🎸😎👍🏼
Beautiful!
thanks
you sounded sooo good
Very good video - excellent build. My only criticism would be the way you joined on the extra pieces of wood - made it difficult to blend in. A tidier joint would have looked better and saved time!

Great job 100% handmade respekt.
thanks for sharing your skill.
Very nice work sir. Cheers.
nice guitar and "the cult" to finish!
thanks
Fascinating!
I learned a few things👍
How come you didn't add any copper shielding tape in the guitar cavity like in the pickup's and electrical wiring around the inside knobs?
i suppose i just used what i had available . if i was building to sell , i would have done , but just noodling i dont hear any hiss
Very cool, I built my own out of Mahogany, "The Hog" and Hog it was, it weighed a ton, sustained like crazy. I tried all sorts of things to lower the mass, very deep contouring/relieving etc, but nah, still way TOO heavy, had to ditch it in the finish.
i sawed this in two and scooped it out somewhat , so its now a semi acoustic . still sounds good but is prone to cracking - it was happier as a slab
yes , i eventually cracked and sawed it lengthways and routed it out then stuck it back together - its now a semi acoustic
Great build. Just goes to show you dont need cnc and a workshop full of machines
Hi Neo great video the wood is...: IROKO
Amazing job! Can you describe how you got the telesocket output jack flush with the wood?
I see you started out drilling the hole with a spade bit and then seem to have used a round file, but it is not clear to me what tool/technique you used to get the lip of the socket to fit flush with the body?
i had a cylindrical grinding drill bit which was the size of the flange on the socket , and the filing just allowed me to centralise it
what's the final weight? i like how you did it with basic tool that everyone can afford
Again another great tele build from you! One question: did you ever get install any string ferrules in the back if the body? because those string ball ends will dig into the wood over time.
i did , but also i hollowed the guitar out because it was too heavy . a few people commented that the wood is teak . i hope to put together a follow up video , with a better guitarist than me playing it
Was wondering if i need to hollow it
well done sir
George Harrison was playing a mahogany Telecaster on the roof way way back when we were kids.
Felix Burke rosewood actually.
Still a killer guitar.
Mahogany is a heavy wood not as heavy as Teak, does have a heavy sound. Gibson was using mahogany in their acoustic guitars back in the 1960's I believe. Sweetwater is selling a Fender Made in Japan Mahogany Offset Telecaster .

thanks , yes it was too heavy so i hollowed it out
Could it be New Guinea rosewood ? Great build which has produced a really nice sounding Tele !
thanks , i,m not sure about the weight difference between the two woods . it would have made a great semi acoustic tele . the weight would have been halved and i,m pretty sure it would still have kept its sustain and tone because of its close grain - maybe next time i find a chunk of wood !!
lots of diff., mahogany, that looks like apitong, a dense tropical hardwood, they use it for skids, to ship heavy machinery, should still sound good though !
Awasome
nice job
Why you have used epoxi instead of traditional wood glue to gluing the extra wood parts?
I nearly fell over when you did the cutaway . shame on you !
well its shaping up to be one high class tele anyway !
What was the actual construction and assembly time?
i didnt take note , just did bits when i had time - and its a while ago now . its been converted to semi acoustic now
Great Video! that had to weigh a ton. what was your final overall weight? 12lbs?
it was too heavy - it was pointed out by several people that it was teak . , ive sawn it in half and hollowed it out then glued it back again . i hope to put another video on showing the process and have a decent guitarist demo it

ive had a few comments about the type of wood . it seems to be teak - it smells strongly strongly when worked
Cool👌
Nice job cutting that slab looked like the worst part of it.Glenn in N.Y.
great video! where did you get the template?
i saw some templates on google images and although i couldnt get a full size one , i downloaded it and re- sized it in photoshop to the dimensions of a telecaster - then printed it off i also had a squier tele and a scratch plate to refer to
Nice
Nice job.. I think your wood is Iroko...…..
Put a better quality neck on it. A beautiful guitar like that deserves a better neck.
there is nothing wrong with squier necks
How do you know the quality of the neck?
Squier necks are awesome.
That was quite a saw cut when you reduced the thickness of that block. Resawing by hand. Not easy.
Beautyfull, but I Will get Mine at the guitarshop.
But there is something very special about building your own :)
Did I hate to see that crack get fixed? I think I would rather have the imperfection in there. Did you think about leaving it as is?
which part of the video is that in ?
5:41. Regardless it is a beautiful tele
because there was one on each side , and it was fine grain , i thought it would be a bit obvious it had been extended . on my pine tele , i would have left it
Dude, that's one awesome guitar. I bet it's quite heavy? Doesn't look like mahogany to me, I'd say it's teak. Nevertheless, great build.
yes i think youre right - i cut it sectionally and hollowed it out so its a semi acoustic now - and light enough to play !
What about copper shielding in the cavities?
i have usined copper self adhesive tape on other guitars , ive no idea why i didnt here , as this was the most difficult to do - ive hollwed the body out since making this video so would have had to take it out anyway - no feedback or too much hiss so far so i will leave this one
Sound good. What pickup is that?
theyre squier strat pickups - i adapted the bridge one for tele bridge fixing . they were in my bits box . now i know it sounds ok , i might try others .
... super!
For a better smoother finish use wood grain filler. Nice job.
👏👏👏👏👏❤
