I have a question. First thank you for these videos. They help us more than you know! I just sent in all my forms for my credentials. Once it comes in where did you go to apply for an actual job?
Thanks for the valuable information on packing. Another question I had is once you finish NEO and your training in New Jersey, do you go straight to the pool and how long do you typically wait for a ship assignment?
Hey. You mention work clothes, is there a certain type of work clothing you have to wear on the ship like some sort of uniform and do you buy them on your own? Does MSC provide clothing like they do the work boots you mentioned?
Depends on the department your in . My department wears khaki pants which I have to buy on my own .. but they give u coveralls , boots , jackets for free . The boots are uncomfortable tho
Hi! I'm new to your channel and I like your videos a lot! Those horizontal shots of the sea at the beginning of the video were amazing and beautiful. It would be nice if all of your videos were shot horizontally. Then your videos would be more cohesive and easier and more pleasant to watch! But thank you anyway for sharing your information on this channel. Keep up the good work!
Can u do a video showing what ur room looks like and how much space u have? I know it's probably a bit different for every ship, but it'd be nice to have an idea of what to expect. Also, is there Wi-Fi on the ships? Are the Gangway up orders still in effect/How often are u allowed to leave the ship? Sorry, I know it's a lot of questions lol 😅
Hi there , ok I will get that in mind .. no WiFi ! Lol and yes gang way is up rn but we are getting $100 a day for it. RN we can’t leave :( , we should be able to atleast go to the nex thought when we hit our next port
Good to know and thanks for the info. I actually just got my NEO start date, so hopefully I don't miss the extra money before Covid dies down lol. But how exactly did u order a mattress topper while u were on the ship, does it have an address? And what size are the beds?
I don’t want to really touch to much on the pay. Only bc it can become really confusing bc there are so many different ways of getting overtime and penalty pay and fire party pay ... but you are guaranteed 112 hours a weeek with Ot
Hey, love your videos and appreciate the information. Quick question, Im wonder how long is the process after submitting your application to going to NEO?
@@ladytrill904 ok true, I appreciate that....now I don’t mean to be asking 21 questions but I’d rather hear from somebody already out there. I’m coming from the Navy so I know about ship life but as far as jobs go. Would you recommend cook over ordinary seaman or vice versa....(in regards to pay and time off in port?) last question I promise lol.
@@zaygoodman869 OS is entry level and cook is not unless you have a degree or you have cooking experience in the navy . Cooks makes more , OS gets off before the cooks so they have more time to go out . But rn no one can leave the ship so that doesn’t matter
@@ladytrill904 yeah I was cook in the navy so they want to place me at second cook. Can’t have one with the other it seems lol. The money will pay for vacation though so I’ll manage. I appreciate it again, maybe I’ll see you out there one day. Take care💪🏾
What is the turnover time like once you put in your request to leave after your 4 months of sea duty? I have heard of some people having to wait for months to be relieved. Is that still the case?
Hi , on my last ship it took 5 months for them to send a relief for me ... but that was due to Covid and they didn’t know how to get people out to the ship, bc the airports were closed ... but I believe it should not take that long thing time around .! But it’s to be expected to be overdue at least a month
your video is good, but this is the type of video that should be "scripted" per se. I agree pack light, but specify which items you should bring extras of, underwear/socks, toiletries if you prefer specific brands, medicine, etc...Good idea for a video though. As a husband, I concur on the "diva cup". That's a specific brand, it doesn't have to be that brand, but my wife uses that. Awesome as you don't have to constantly spend money on tampons.
You really don’t need to bring any toiletries. If they don’t have the brand you use available at the nex , then Amazon delivers to the ship. As for extra socks and underwear that can be purchased at the nex or store when you get to the ship as well . The only clothing items you really should pack is uniforms and a few going out outfits. Everything else can be purchased after getting on board .
Let ....me.....tellllllll you........I been out here 15 yrs.........and i still cant pack right. lol I pack my lifffffffffe, i cant help it. What size mattress topper did you get? Are 'most' beds a certain size? Thanks for the vid!
it’s all twin size beds, unless you’re an officer.

You go to the pool and wait .. it really depends maybe a week or two
It depends on your detailer
