How to do Zazen Correctly

- According to 12th century Japanese Zen Master Dogen, Zazen is not the same as meditation practice, yet, when you look at someone practicing zazen it looks a lot like someone who is meditating. Dogen gives a lot of descriptions of what zazen is, and they may help us understand what we are doing when practicing zazen.
This talk was given on the third day of sesshin at Nebraska Zen Center (April 16th, 2023).

Thanks for a great video, the story of the Buddha and the farmer, which I've never heard before, was a wonderful summary of what the fulfillment of Zazen is!

I’m not sure this relates to this talk, however here goes. When my teacher would travel and would get into a conversation with someone and they asked him what he did for a living, his response would be that he was a window washer. I always thought that was funny, but strangely accurate. When it comes down to it, isn’t zazen a form of clearing one’s vision?
Wonderful point. I think that's a big part of it. The other part is serving others as best we can. I say that with all humility as I have lots to learn. Thank you.
What gives you the right to say that you can teach ZEN correctly? You can’t even wear your monk clothes correctly. You are supposed to show 三色. You probably don’t know what this means so let me tell you. You’re supposed to show three colors starting with your white undergarment, second layer, being your kimono, and your third layer being your Houe or Daie.
