- Showing a step by step process for building the 13'9" Dragon. This board was built from Paulownia wood and Epoxy resin.

all the resin and finishing work and of course let's not forget the skeg fitting and shaping bit disappointed 😕😕 having said, totally appreciate the opportunity to comment and appreciate the fine work striving for perfection. Proper hands on, love working with wood, great medium to work with.

Hi Alexander, sorry about the late reply. I have a book just published on how to build these boards ( ebook pdf or hard copy) and also full sized plans available for this board and others. The brown stuff is epoxy resin mixed with wood dust ( which is a by product of the process of making the board.
A lot of work there, but well worth it. That's a beautiful board! :¬)

Thanks for the reply, Im going with a light weight glass with the epoxy just to see if it makes any real difference. I find the epoxy is pretty resistant but the glass may protect on impact a little more.

Probably 40 years since I stood on a board as a learner ( piran malibu ) but alas never keept it up.

Thanks. Time to build is about 200 hours including cups of coffee. The ride is a dream.

Thanks Felipe, it's paulownia wood and the glue is epoxy resin, this is mixed with paulownia dust and WEST system glue powders to make a structural glue to match the darker colours in the wood.
Was that only finished with epoxy resin as a final coat? No fiber? I make wooden boards and up until now have used three coats of epoxy resin over the ply/ foam rubber laminate that makes the board but am considering adding a layer of fiber on the bottom side. Any comments? (they are not surf boards)
Yes only epoxy resin. I find that dings are easier to repair without glass and the board is more flexible that way. Cloth is ok though.

how did you get the concave????
It's bent in when the panels are laminated together. The jig either has concave built in or it has flexible battens so the concave can be adjusted via weights.
This time I'll use woodprix instructions to make it by my hand :)
