Watching her tac weld everything is painful
I feel the same way, but considering her location, and that she mostly welds outdoors, Shielding gas for a MIG might be impossible to get, expensive or wouldn't work for her. And SHE NEEDS SOME KIND OF CART, motorized preferably. One day she will regret carrying what she does on her back.

I also cringe when I see her carry or lift heavy things--I know what happens--I blew out my back in my 20's --I have seen her use a motorized cart but maybe she can't always use it on bad roads and trails, or its not always hers to use---she's one hell of an impressive young woman!

Hello Lin 👋👋👋👋You constructed a wonderful machine of which you can be very proud. Just the same I hope you will understand my concern with one thing though. The engine belt should be covered!! It is very noticeable in the video that as the lady and you both leaned over to empty the pan with water that your hair is "much too close" to the belt. This could lead to someone getting scalped in the future if their hair would get caught in the belt. Please understand that I do not mean any disrespect towards you or your hard work. I just feel that you would not want to live with the possibility of someone getting seriously hurt. Tienes que sujetar la radial con la mano izquierda puesta en el mango para tener mas precision y evitar que alguna vez salte y puede hacerte daño ... las piezas que cortas si son ligeras tienes que sujetarlas a algun sitio como la mesa con un sargento o mas ....y despues ya sujetas y firmes es cuando puedes cortar bien ...😄... al torno tienes que echarle aceite a las guias y todas las partes moviles , piñones ejes etc etc .... el aceite es la madre del torno y de muchas cosas mas ...para hacer agujeros siempre se usa aceite o taladrina .... entonces todo va mejor 😇... no cargues tanto peso en la espalda .... hace mucho que se invento la rueda .... coge una carretilla para llevar peso si no tienes auto 😅 , la espalda es sagrada , si te lesionas se tarda mucho en curar otra vez ...😂 ... alguien tiene que enseñarte a hacer bordones con el soldador !!! seguro que en media hora aprendes bien . Eres una pasada de mujer ingeniera 😇😇😇 un gran saludo

What an incredibly talented Young Lady. Not just repairing old equipment but designing and creating new ones. She has such an array of talents and so strong for her size. I was worried when I saw her pick up and walk with one of her motors in another video but it didn't seem to worry her at all. I don't know where she learnt her trade but she was certainly paying attention.

Lin is nothing short of amazing! Ok, engineer are smart but Lin takes that to a whole new level. She engineers machines she probably never made before and they work! And i'm sure the sweet potato juice taste better if it's made from Lin's machine 😋

Lin as a young girl started working for village master's to learn all their trick's , carpentry, construction, brickwork, machine repair and is a college graduate with an engineering degree.
That was great work Guoer, is that your won design or made from plans, either way it is great. BTW, take care to keep your hair away from that lathe, when I had long hair I would tuck it in my shirt collar so it cant flop around. Also, a bit of oil or WD40 on your lathe will stop it rusting and won't hurt it. Keep up the great work Guoer and take care.

A stick arc welder is very like a hose.
i.e. once having struck an arc you then hose the metal into the joint.
To strike the arc it is better and gives more control if you drag or pull the stick over the surface.
Maintaining the flow of metal is a matter of distance and current.
Ideally you should not start and stop as it breaks the flow and can cause cracks.
Sometimes it is necessary but try to perfect a continuous arc.
There are five variables: the thickness of base metal, the thickness of your rod, the current you use, the speed you move, and the length of your arc.
I see many tap, stick and start again youtube welders and it is painful to watch.
The simple rule is drag rather than push the weld and hose the rod into the joint.
Yes! That is what I was thinking as I watched her weld, it looked at first that she was making tack welds to hold pieces in position, but then it seems she was making all of her full welds as a sequence of tack welds instead of making continuous drag ones like you described. I wonder if she has no way to control the current and that's why she makes all tack welds?
@@dannichols6261 I think it is a habit formed by generations of welders who learned by practise rather than being taught. RUclips is full of it. The obvious thing is to tap when you can't strike an arc but when you tap you also tend to stick. So the habit becomes tap and stick, tap and stick. Ideally you need to clean the base metal well and drag the rod over the surface to strike an arc and once the arc is struck pull away to maintain the arc. Of course a good rod begins convex with the flux shaved back from the weld metal but after a run the rod becomes concave with the non conductive flux on the outside. It's almost as if they should sell pencil sharpeners for welding rods.
@@NolanTyrrell Ok, that makes sense, although how you described is pretty much how I learned, on the job with some instruction from my boss, who had been doing all the welding previously. It was TIG, so no exterior flux, and it seems to me (this was decades ago) that it was easy to learn to strike the sharpened tungsten tip in a 'scratching' motion on the work surface, which would deliberately or automatically end up about a quarter of an inch off the metal, thus both starting and maintaining the arc. And for TIG, I used a circular 'spiraling' motions along the length of a weld, rather than back-and-forth arcs advancing in that direction (while adding material to the arc and weld from a stainless-steel thin rod). The boss showed me the proper order of the pieces to seam or weld together, but it all seemed to be fairly easy & straightforward, although I never had much instruction on selecting the current in relation to the size of the pieces, nor the gas flow either, but I think I did pretty well. Never did advance from stainless-steel to aluminum, though!! Just lots of holes burnt in aluminum!

i.e. Tig is fluxless. The arc is purely for heat and add the weld metal into the pool melt.
Whereas with a stick you hose the weld metal and flux into the joint hoping you have got the temperature right.
