Simon, this was great. I am scheduled to have valve replacement at the end of this month. I don’t know yet whether it’s going to be with a catheter or open chest however, in either case these videos have been great thank you.
Hey, I was wired shut. The recovery from the sternum was ok, not as bad as I thought, just took it easy for the 6 week period, but truth be told, I did a bit more from week 5. It was actually the muscle in the right pectoral that 'hurt' the most, it was uncomfortable and often ached long past the 6 week sternum healing period. As for pain meds I was off pain meds when I went back to the general ward. So about 4 days post op.

How was the recovery of the sternum? Did they wire you shut or use another method. I’m wondering how long you were on pain meds?
