The HEV batteries existing but not being usable is mostly because they still exist in canon, and it would be arguably more jarring if they stopped existing just for this mod. The original Blue Shift did this too, but more often with chargers than loose batteries.
What a great episode! New lovable NPCs that actually contribute & don't commit suicide the first chance they get 🤣 hillarious commentary as always, keep it up 👍
Love the HECU’s proper introductory in The 4th chapter!!! Seeing them being friendly despite knowing who they are as a player was so unnerving and made me very uncomfortable, but I love the execution of the whole scene!
1.Barney encounters military much earlier than Gordon, which explains why they appear "friendly". They lure personnel to kill them. By the time Gordon meets them, they stop playing pretend with scientists. 2.Im pretty sure you can use retinal scanners, since you have a clearance, unlike Gordon. Make sure to hold the action button to fully scan. 3.Barney can't use hev batteries/chargers,they are made for lore consistency. 4.Dont worry about guards, they are unique npcs, which means they have almost infine hp. They can pull their weight Not sure what I missed, but if you have any questions, you can ask
Barney meets them after Gordon, Barney was armed, that's why they wanted to get his Guard Down, in We've Got Hostiles they're killing them probably because of different squads, the squads in the freight yard are focused on taking the containers by helicopter / train and taking the personnel hostages.
I'm super glad to see you continuing this! I LOVE stuff that adds more character models too! Black Mesa Character Expansion, aka where all the new outfits from Azure Sheep come from, (Although the models have been updated to higher quality since then) is by far my favorite mod for Black Mesa lol. There's even other mods like BMCE Revised that expands upon the mod expanding upon Black Mesa personnel lol. BMCE recently had an update to add facial hair like bears and whatnot and it's super cool. I really hope to possibly see that stuff appearing more in modded campaigns, since there's not a lot of room in default Black Mesa to see all the variety. A remake of a HL1 mod has some custom character models made from the dev of BMCE but Blue Shift uses all custom content HECU Collective made themselves. The HEV batteries MUST be a troll, just a tease. Honestly I like it lol Yes Otis originates from Blue Shift and Opposing Force and yes he actually sounds like that in the original names. I loved watching this part and looking forward to the next :)
I dont understand why there are so many channels that have over a thousand subs but barely get any views and comments, this is a great video and you deserve more recognition
53:12 Dont take my word for it, i just found this on some youtube comment but apparently the houndeyes are friendly, unfortunately their way of playing with humans is to create shockwaves.
word of advice. Don't open a video that's continuing a series with "I've forgotten literally everything that's happened." Before you continue with new chapters perhaps you should have watched your previous videos. Also those marines at the start had the right idea in setting a trap
In the very same sentence I did say I did a quick recap = skimmed my previous videos. I don't really have time to watch the entire things back again. The skimming through generally reminded me of places I've been etc but not much more than that. My summary in the following sentence was pretty much correct in hindsight - we are basically continuing to try to escape from the facility. The only reason the trap confused me at first was because I didn't realise at the time that so far in Blue Shift we hadn't encountered soldiers yet, only aliens - so I was confused why "suddenly" they were acting friendly.
I still enjoyed the video, any blue shift content is good content to me! And I've watched him before, he's a really enjoyable youtuber. I'm just happy to see people playing and enjoying the game, and I'm looking forward to his hl2 series once he get's around to it

Otis is precious!
I recall the Otis-character from Half Life Opposing Force, where he was, of course, plundering a broken vending machine for candy, class!

Otis is a big man, he needs a big iron
Half life is one of my favorite universes , I'm glad that you are playing this mod.
