Harry has done a great job in describing what it’s like with a Taycan. I have had a 4S for just over 2 years and 49k miles. One comment on Range Mode, you can configure it up to 85mph but if you route a destination in the Porsche Nav and it has enough charge then it bumps the max speed to 90mph, which is handy in California 😂 As a 70 mph limit requires some headroom. 😎
Great review - so unique - who boots a Taycan around a a steep Cotswold field? Keep doing what you are doing Harry - it is exactly like when Evo came out in that you are taking motoring reviews up a notch from where it was/is. This time in RUclips form. You are moving the game on and its great.
Fun fact, if you opt for the electronic charge flap the wheel well vent by the door is blocked off… stay with the standard manual charge flap and it’s a functioning vent
except that it lets dirt to get sprayed along the sides of the car -- very bad design... Best to get the electronic charge-port door to keep dirt from splattering onto the car's side...
He hit the nail on the head about the lack of engagement. I have found high performance EV’s (including the Taycan) highly competent and fun to drive but without any real interest for an enthusiast. I will happily own one as the family vehicle but will keep my fingers tightly crossed that weekend petrol fuelled fun will remain possible for a long time to come.
Thanks Harry for another solid review. About the interior: a lighter colour would probably improve it considerably. It has always surprised me that the majority of cars have a black or very dark interior, despite the many disadvantages: Very hot in summer, gloomy in winter, less spacious feel and comes across as a lot less luxurious (to me). Even the one thing that many consider an advantage, that it ages better and doesn’t stain as easily, seems very untrue. My BMW with beige interior is fairly easy to keep clean and still looks fantastic at 135k km, whereas my 911 with 55k km and black interior is a nightmare to keep clean (despite being a dry weather car).
Agreed! I have always liked tan leather interiors with suitable body colors, such as British Racing Green. This one comes to the screen as 'bland over dark.'
All up to taste. I've had both, much prefer my all black with red mood lighting throughout. Feels comfortable and all encompassing when it's dark and wet.Too bright and it reminds me of public transport.

I just come back from a driving holiday. I am sure there are some people who would do it but personally I don’t ever see myself wanting to drive more than 200-250 miles without at least a 20 minute stop. That is about 4.5 hours of motorway driving. With some traffic, that is closer to 5 hours. For me the sweet spot is 300 miles range. Enough not to ever have to worry about range and capable of charging at higher speeds to that with a 20 minute toilet break and snack/leg stretch ai can be back on the road.

In my opinion you missed one major dislike - it’s got looks even it’s mother would struggle to love! Brilliant review though, please keep them coming Harry!
The software change to the range will allow deeper discharge before it's empty. Fully discharging lithium-ion batteries kills them so they've decided either they were too conservative in the initial iteration and the battery will be fine or that battery life won't be compromised too much before getting out of warranty.
Interesting to see how EV's are evolving. Still far too expensive, but this being a Porsche it is only to be expected. But the whole range-anxiety thing I hope is something that will go as the technology improves.
Well with range comes a longer charge period (duration) requirement, meaning you need mega-fast charging to make the charge period remain sensible. It's the improvements to charging infrastructure (and it being faster in the future) that will make the range anxiety truly reduce.
@@Wellspicedchaffinch This is true, hence I said "the technology". Of course with further range it would theoretically require less frequent charges, but your point remains true. One question does arise though - where is all this electricity coming from? Does the UK actually have capacity to power all of these chargers? And on the back of that, it does beg the question as to how that electricity is being generated - fossil fuels? So, by replacing petrol for electricity, aren't we just exchanging one fossil fuel for another? So thought provoking questions here.
EVs need a bit of a 'next step' in terms of battery size efficiency, charge duration reduction, solutions for longevity (because we are going to end up with having mountains of useless batteries) and stuff like that. Untill then the EVs are not really going to be too practical unless you need an urban vehicle to travel short distances. Easier said than done though as that can be a breakthrough tommorow, in a year or in a couple of decades. The whole 'no gas powered cars by 2035' is a naive notion and should not be taken seriously. It is as realistic as 'by 2015 we will have flying cars' idea from the 80s.
Always rate your content Harry. The only thing I don’t like that has become a recent effect is the slow motion. Love that your videos are straight forward with no gimmicks.
Harry, at about 11:15 you refer to the increased range as about 250 miles, but the close up of the screen you show indicates 100% Charge and a range of 254km which is closer to 150 miles.
In Holland, the starting price is 104000 euro, I kind of expect this car to be epic for the money. This makes the top 0.1% of people consider going electric…
Lucid Air can do about 600km and is way more luxurious and faster in a straight line. That is Taycan's real competition and it's only winning due to Manufacturing Supply Availibity.
I really hate interiors (like Mercedes) with the "iPad stuck on the dash" look. Would love to see how the Taycan would do if you repeated your legendary trips to the Sahara or the Artic circle.
@suspicionofdeceit Yeah, but the world survived for generations without it until manufactures & their ew millennial designers inflict it on everyone. It needs to go away. We'll all be in self driving cars soon anyway.
Mine arrives at the dealer in the next week, this brilliant video yet again confirms hopefully I made the right choice when I placed the order 11 months ago. It will be interesting to see how the charging network works and also how the performance and general drive compares to the F90 M5 I have just sold (after 3 years and 30,000 miles). That was a great daily - hopefully the 4S will be a great replacement. Oh, mine is going to be a company car, did I mention BIK……..🤔 Currently it’s a no-brainer (you forgot to mention that Harry!). If you can have an electric car as a company vehicle the BIK is so low, it’s almost a free car!
BIK makes all EV very attractive as company cars, it's almost as if we're back in the seventies when the last peak company car period occurred and every company director had a Jaguar and the chairman had a Silver Shadow! I didn't mention it because 70% of my viewers are non-UK based and they wouldn't understand what i was talking about.
@@harrysgarage I know, it’s a loophole a that’s totally overlooked currently (but due to change in 2025). For those who live outside the UK, basically if you are fortunate enough to either own a business or have access to a car supplied by a business for work/pleasure, you pay a percentage of tax on the value of the car as a taxable perk. Currently it’s 2% so even as a high rate tax payer it equates to less than £100 per month out of your salary per month to have this machine sitting in your drive. I don’t see a huge increase in the % in 2025+ and they will still be attractive I’m sure. By the way, I didn’t go for non- leather but still managed to add £20,000 in options by the time you add nice lights, better seats and wheels etc. the main issue with these cars currently is the extremely long lead time, mine was just under 12 months, order one now and you’ll be lucky to see one in 18 months, if not 24 months 😳
@@harrysgarage It was entirely my reason for buying a 4s Ct, I love mine, and actually in the hot summer my range peaked at 315 usable miles. expect a significant drop off in winter.
“Dashed in, bought a sandwich and I was what, 20 minutes, and when I got back I’d added 77 miles”. In my Puma Defender I can add 500 miles in five minutes. Having said that, I do like it. But electric cars have a long way to come before they’re practical, especially if you live in a large country (like I do in France). I can get back to London (1000km from me) in a tank and a half, so realistically on paper a ten minute stop for fuel and a wee, maybe a second wee stop and a sandwich. At 275 mile range, this Taycan would need at least 3 stops, but if in reality each 20 minute stop on a supercharger only gives you 77 miles, I have no idea how much time I’d be adding to an already 10hr journey.
If I could afford any EV it would be a Taycan as Porsche you know it’s just done right plus the interior is fantastic. I know in a previous life it was his job to review Car but always love these honest test drives. But question was it relaxing to drive, I figure on a long trip it would be more relaxing and less tiring. I’d love to do Glasgow to Duxford and back that I did last year in my MINI 😁 Porsche U.K. just play this clip to anyone thinking about the Taycan in your showroom and you’ll have a sale right there. 👍 Second generation will be next level the way battery tech is improving. These things will get to 400 miles in time real world with lighter packs. I’d have gone with the normal Taycan but after the field test I’m sold…probably great on snow. Right Alps for skiing then 😁
It looks like Porsche took a page out of Ford's playbook by adding an option to make an EV make noise. I've read someone claim that this reduces the risk of motion sickness. Personally I think Ford did it just for fun because a Mustang is supposed to have a certain sound and now Porsche is doing it just because they can.
Very similar spec to my own car. I ordered it the day after the launch in March 2021. Coming up for a year now and it has been great. For my commute, which is only 15 mins, but hilly, so over an hour on bike and very inefficient with any ICE vehicle. It's stupidly large for a 4 seat car, but incredibly comfortable and also actually handles well too - you can enjoy an open road. The "electric noise" is a synthesized version of the actual motors. It's most useful for making more noise outside of the car, so you don't surprise pedestrians in towns and villages.
The sound is to stop people walking in front of you in a car park (without hearing an engine) I thought? Perfectly silent cars are lethal in that scenario, in my opinion. Some sound is appreciated.
I wish every review would feature a normal size car and/or motorcycle next to it for size comparison. The F50 and even Veyrons are ridiculously tiny compared to even a new/older Miata.
I sat behind a Spowwt Turismo the other day and from behind, as much as I liked flared arches normally, the proportions looked a bit off - like either the roof was too narrow or the arches too wide. It's a minor gripe but I normally think these look awesome and I was surprised I didn't like following one as much. Nice to know the Cross Turismo's gravel setting will work well on a ski resort, though, which is probably where they imagined it would be used.
Probably the best review of this car I've seen. I appreciate how critical and honest Harry can be. I would be interested in the comfort and practicality during a long distance road trip.

Thanks Harry this is the first EV i like but it's probably due simply to your in-depth knowledge and review.
I liked at the end Harry mentions Tesla and there is a gray Model S behind him. :) 23:50
Great review as always, range, range, range, needs to be higher. Love the shape and colour, cheers Harry
Glad to hear you pronounce Porsche name correctly 😊
Imagine walking your dog and up comes the Turismo hahaha xD
Ending the weekend with a long detailed video!
Always rate your content Harry. The only thing I don’t like that has become a recent effect is the slow motion. Love that your videos are straight forward with no gimmicks.

The world needs more wagons! Especially sporty ones. Makes way more sense than a compact SUV to me.
Leave it to Harry to actually use the Cross Turismo off-road without even a thought. Excellent.
Harry, at about 11:15 you refer to the increased range as about 250 miles, but the close up of the screen you show indicates 100% Charge and a range of 254km which is closer to 150 miles.
450 km is more correct.
My favorite Electric Porsche
In Holland, the starting price is 104000 euro, I kind of expect this car to be epic for the money. This makes the top 0.1% of people consider going electric…
Well in UK those people will be getting a tax break through Crazy Kwarteng, so it will be even cheaper…….
Space ship Porsche and great design! Another galaxy; off we go into the future. Thank you.
Brilliant.
Once again fully on point about the dumb internal sounds
249mile range ? … my Tesla model Y may not be as sumptuous inside, but the 540km range and the superb supercharger network mean it’s an easy choice.
Lucid Air can do about 600km and is way more luxurious and faster in a straight line. That is Taycan's real competition and it's only winning due to Manufacturing Supply Availibity.

@@FFE-js2zp you boys ain't seen the driverless ev tractors huh?? (
I really hate interiors (like Mercedes) with the "iPad stuck on the dash" look.
@@mogsyman you should see the second hand prices of these, crazy markups at the mo!
3 yrs and only 30k miles ... I drive that much in 1 yr... Sometimes even double that in a year
“Dashed in, bought a sandwich and I was what, 20 minutes, and when I got back I’d added 77 miles”.
Next Taycan Off Road model will have option called "Harry's Steep Grass Field"😁
Best video on the Green Machine..."Planet of the Humans" by Michael Moore here on YT. A must see for farmer Harry!
It's most useful for making more noise outside of the car, so you don't surprise pedestrians in towns and villages.
just love this car …… well done Porsche
Great review
The sound is to stop people walking in front of you in a car park (without hearing an engine) I thought? Perfectly silent cars are lethal in that scenario, in my opinion. Some sound is appreciated.
With a Taycan:
⬅️Fields or Road ➡️
Fields✅️ Simply The Best!
Fine as long as the terrain is fairly flat!
You know what this car is missing? A nice V8 twin turbo!!!
Yuck TT ruins V8, it strangles the exhaust. I'd rather have a Dual Motor BEV.
Harry, You measure everything. When will you measure the electric and magnetic fields that we are exposed to?
I wish every review would feature a normal size car and/or motorcycle next to it for size comparison. The F50 and even Veyrons are ridiculously tiny compared to even a new/older Miata.
Time for another Taycan review please, the 2025 refresh.
Seen a green one pulling into my local pub carpark and i just went WOW that is nice
