I have the Mauser M18 in 30 06 and the Tikka T3X supervarmint Grtech in 6.5mm creedmoor . What I can say is that I love both of these rifles , but the one thing that stands out is the Mauser Trigger which superior to the Tikka .

Only criticism I had too, If our eyes were above/below each other, it wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, excellent and informative video. Handled an M18 last week, surprised at how light they are, definitely my next purchase, just gotta work out which caliber to go with.
Mauser.....The sharper sweep of the grip is to make it more comfortable and efficient for prone shooting; the double ejectors is to make sure the cases eject at 90 degrees instead of upward and bouncing off the scope.
Well, I wouldn't trade my mid-80's Winchester XTR in .270 for either one of them. I guess I'm old school (old enough to be old school anyway); I just like the fine walnut stocks and polished or jeweled steel. For similar reasons I don't care for the plastic Glocks either.
Fantastic review, I like how beefy it seems. I’ve read an experience with a tikka exploding in a hunters face, and while I think it was an anomaly it’s nice to see the extra build and gas regulation on this m18

I already have a 7mm rem mag in a Tikka lite but would like something a little lighter with a shorter barrel. I have a Tikka Battue 30-06 in mind. For me it’ll always be the battue due to its lines, weight... - my 9.3x62 T3 battue swings like no other rifle I’ve used when ‘walking up deer’. Now..., if Mauser introduced a 9.3x62 M18 with a 20” barrel it changes things somewhat... :))) , but as far as factory rifles(no modifications) go its the battue for me :)

Wasim Mtwari I have never owned a 300WM funny enough but have owned 300WSM’s... The 9.3x62 shooting 286’s between 2250-2300fps(factory ammo about this speed - chrony’d) in my T3 battue with a limbsaver recoil-pad installed is very manageable... & I would say it’s a lot less snap to it compared to the 300’s but with more push if that makes sense. When one loads the 9.3 with 286’s to 2400/2500fps recoil is certainly there & comparable to my old 340Wby & 338Win Mag shooting 225’s at approx 2800fps. If you have experience shooting the 300WM you will be converted :) once you go to the 9.3x62 I reckon. I use to use the 338Win Mag exclusively on Sambar then my mate(Rhodesian fella) converted me. Otto Bock got this cartridge right & nearly 114 years later it’s still bowling them over :)

Damien Joyce Tikka for me but the M18 is a fine rifle! I always tell people, when choosing a rifle...‘throw them up to your shoulder & you will know pretty quick what suits. Tikka can be fitted with an aftermarket recoil-pad & one can get Tikka accessories a plenty... I prefer the feel of the Tikka safety as well. It’s more robust in design from what I can see. I like the Tikkas single-stack magazine over staggered but ones mans meat is another mans poison... Both are fine rifles. Flip a coin.
I love my m18 best gun I've owned creedmoor is a awesome caliber couldn't find a PRC or ammo so it's probably better I got the standard 6.5.... 895!! I paid $400 new in the states man jeeeze
The trigger is polymer, the bolt shroud is polymer, the barrel is hot pressed as opposed to threaded on tikka (good luck changing the barrel on the Mauser). The trigger as good as is on Mauser, may or may not creep after a while, the Mauser trigger is very complex, (there are no aftermarket parts for the Mauser to rectify any of this). I do like the Mauser rifles, but there is a reason why is this model so cheap. I am not trying to piss on nobodies fire, however personally I would like to know all this so I can make an educated decision before making a purchase.

Better is a personal thing... My advice would be. Go into your local Gunshop & throw both up to your shoulder & see what you like. I personally prefer the Tikka. رضا احمد
Yes I like the Sauer 100 too it’s actually fits me better than the Tikka T3 & Mauser 18. G,day mate. The CZ550 is a great action which has a proven reputation worldwide... The 22-250 & 9.3x62 that I did own gave me excellent service & I highly recommend it. CZ’s new push-feed(555) seems like a quality action but I am yet to own one to give you more feedback on it.
Get old 1960-1990 mauser and that will last another 100 years . This m 18 is plastic shit. Get X bolt or Weatherby Mark V hunter or Sako around 1500-2000 Cad . Or savage 110 if budgt 600-700$ CAD .
Here in the States the Mauser M18 is available for half the price. Is it 1/2 the gun... no balancing all features and fit and finish I would give the Mauser 100% and the Tikka 100%. And, though not reviewed here the Sako 85 100%. To explain, For many years as a youth I had a Swedish 1894, low serial number Mauser made carbine... with steel Redfield aperture sight 6.5x55 loved the gun killed my first big game animal with it a large moose... one of my two fav(s) of all time. The other was a 1894 30-30 High Grade Winchester rifle made in 1907 with 22" barrel given for my 7th birthday by my grandfather. Both are lost to well over 60 years of life... Not that there have been other favs Mauser 660 in 270/308, a Darne double Ball and Shot gun... rifled muzzles strangely one of the most accurate rifles I ever had consistent 1/2" groups at 70m with iron sights and an 1 1/4 oz bullet at 1700 -1800 fps... vicious recoil for 7 lbs gun.... custom made over 4 years in a little town in France... about 10 shots is the most I ever fired at one go! Ammo no longer made... ! Currently my favorite is a Sako 243 mannlicher, built in the late 1980s, my other fav now is a Browning A-Bolt 12gauge rifled slug gun both fitted with Leupold VX5-HD scopes... and Talley mounts. Over time there have been others. At one time, I collected Arsenal mint South American Mauser battle rifles, yep those countries were and still are largely military controlled with European traditions. After you have seen the workmanship, design, progression of design, and overall excellence of those rifles from 1889-1898 versions... in condition as they left the factories now 100-130 years ago.... I would rate them 100 % against any fine English shotgun or rifle but better technically. After selling the collection... I can say they really belonged in a museum not with me. Boys they still exist hidden in the dark storerooms of those arsenals but I don't think the skids can be greased to free them for any amount of money. One must remember some of the Wars in S.America were the worst of any, with high loses. Those traditions are not overcome. Where does this lead, recently purchased a Mauser M18 243 for a gift... nice Leupold high end scope and Talley mounts... scope and mounts cost 3 times the gun... is it worth it... YES. In today's world it is a new classic Mauser and meets every bit of the grand traditions of Mauser now long ago... but you must consider it in the light of today, not yesteryear!
I’m a huge fan of tikkas...& still have my Tikka, but that M18 is a fine rifle for $900 in Australia. They have gone up considerably more here which puts them equal in price to the tikka. I might do a comparison ahaha with my Tikka T3 & ZG47. Both in 9.3x62.
