Moment Cinebloom Filter Review | Creating the Cinematic look!

- A review on the Moment CineBloom Filter 10%. This is a diffusion filter that basically will allow you to instantly transform your footage to look more "cinematic". This filter will do a few things to your image, it will raise the blacks, giving you a more "faded film-like" image, it will bloom the highlights, also sometimes referred to as "halation", and it will give your overall image a softer look, removing the oversharpened digital look setting your footage apart. I hope you enjoy it!

Diffusion Filter Definition by Moment - "Diffusion filters have been helping cinematographers create their look for generations. These filters can be used for lifting contrast and also creating halation, or glowing effects to specular light sources in a scene."

Out of all the moment filter reviews, this one was the best one in terms of getting the right information across. Thank you
Thank you so much Cam, glad it was helpful 🙌🏼
agree
5% is gonna be perfect for my zoom interviews
@@bobsagget823 thanks so much!
Literally the best review i've seen on these filters. Including where they actually (no pun intended) shine.
Hey Grant! Thank you so much :) that means a lot!
This was so practical and to the point. Love it!
Thanks, Patrick, I'm glad it was helpful!
Keep it up Andrik! SOLID solid work on the content 👌
Thanks so much!! Yours too 👍🏻👍🏻
absolute perfect explanation, like you said there have been for me , some scenes where i didn't see any differences in the day time, but as i looked closer they where very subtle. As i have discovered this will shine in the evening
Hey Mark, thank you so much! Yes, it's so nice when you know where it will work best and where it won't and you can then choose to control the amount you want or look you want :)
woah, that was a reaaly smooth outro
Thanks so much!!:)
Thanks for that review ! I'm definitely going for the 10% now ! :)
No problem! Glad it was a help :) and yeah, I think 10 is definitely still enough without overwhelming the image. And I like that I can still control the look, if I want more blooming, i just look for those brighter and harsher light sources! :)
Great job on the review my dude! Loved the samples!
Thanks so much man! :)
Fantastic review. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome! Thank you for your comment 🙏🏼😊
your channel is a treasure!
Thank you so much Ali 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing! I am big fan of cinebloom filter and you provide really nice explanation!!
Glad to hear! I love them too :)
Well done, great video with excellent before/after photos! Reinforced my decision to go with the 10%
wonderful, so glad to hear that :) I think you'll love it.
Really awesome video, keep up the great work!:)
Thank you so much for the encouragement! :) glad it was a help!
Thanks for this video, very helpful!
Thank you so much! Glad this was a help! Have an awesome day today 👍🏻
Such a gorgeous professional video! Love your editing style and the soft color grade. Bought the 20% Cinebloom filter, fingers crossed it'll be a nice complement to my 1/4 Black Pro Mist!
Hey, thank you so much, that's exciting you got the 20% that should be a great addition to your 1/4 Pro Mist :) Enjoy!
Great video, thank you so much✌
Hey, thank you, Carlo 🙏🏼
That was really interesting to watch, you definitely know your stuff 😊🙏👍👌
Thanks Manny! I appreciate it 🙏🏼
Thanks... very helpful video. Wondering if I can do the same effect in post
This is exactly what I was looking for when deciding between the 10% and 20%. The 10% seems to be perfect, for my personal preference. Thanks for this video!
Hi Tristan, I'm glad the video was helpful. I love the 10% and awesome job on your channel, your videos look great!
@@AndrikLangfield ‘Preciate you bro 🙏🏿
Genial video!
Me alegra que te gusto! 👍🏼
thank u a lot, u made the review I was looking for months, 10% or 20%... I will go for the 10 ;)
Hey Daniel, thank you!! So glad to hear :) I'm sure you're going to love it!
Just got the 10% for use with anamorphic lens😎
Great video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I also think this cinebloom is better than blackmist… Just because the smooth transition of the light edges and maybe it’s blooming feel which looks hazy or something and also performs way better than original black-mist I love this video I was hesitating buying 10 or 20 and this video just helped me
Awesome to hear! I love the way it handles the transition like you said and if you need deeper blacks they are easy to add later :) Glad it was a help to you!
great video dude!
Hey thanks so much Jahnye!
Nice!
Thank you!
Thank you for the video. I think even for night shots the 10% is the sweet spot. I find the 20% overblooming light at night (by watching other videos) which might look beautiful for the first 5-10 shots but takes away the story from a photo.
No problem, I'm glad it helped you! :) And your right, like with any effect, it can become overwhelming when used excessively!
Great review! very interesting how it response differently when the light source is partially blocked!! I was wondering why the effect was weaker in some situations 👍
Thanks so much!! Yes, it is so interesting and helpful to know how it reacts in that way :)
what i do to achieve similar results;
contrast - 4
sharpness - 5
fineness threshold -4
it works almost identical but doesnt have the same effect on the “bloom” on lights
GOOD VIDEO
Thank you so much!
Thanks Andrik, this was helpful. I’m intending to get one for my iPhone alone with my moment lens!
Wow that's awesome! What I phone do you shoot with? I don't have any moment lenses or the adapters for the filters to my phone but I have tried filming things with it just held up in front of my phone camera and it's pretty awesome how good the results are :)
@@AndrikLangfield I currently use the iPhone12 but only recently got the wide 18mm lens for it, I would say it’s pretty great so far, though some might argue it looks soft on occasions. Regardless I’m pretty happy with it and may get the tele lens as well 😅
@@yurihahnjohari846 oh that's great to hear! Yeah moment makes some really good products 👍🏻👍🏻 I wonder if the 18mm lens making your image slightly softer helps with the sometimes oversharpend digital look phones get 🤔
@@AndrikLangfield well yes it does! And also the lens does not distort the look as much as using the inbuilt ultra wide in the iPhone
@@yurihahnjohari846 great! that's good to know! 🙌🏼
Question... Do you use these filters on conjunction with an ND or instead of?
Great question! Yes I do all the time, I usually have my diffusion filter on first and then stack an ND Filter as I need it. The cinebloom has a filter thread on the outside, similar to most filters, making it really easy to stack with others with the same thread size :)
Hello, I'm looking for a cinebloom 10% filter for 55mm but can't find it anywhere.. It is available for lenses of 52mm, 54mm, 58mm but nowhere for lenses of 55mm.. in its features it says however : Available for standard camera lens sizes 37-82mm. Not sure I understand this.. Does it mean that it covers all the range of lenses from 37 to 82mm ? I'm too scared to order the wrong size, I would really appreciate some help
Hey, great question! They don't make a 55mm size, you can do one of either options, either buy the biggest thread size (the most expensive) and then just buy step up rings. The reason to do this is then you only buy one filter for all your lenses 👍🏻 the down side is that it's more expensive if youre only planning to use it on a few lenses. I personally just bought the 58mm as the two lenses I use most commonly are a 58mm and a 55mm size, I then just stuck a step up ring from 55-58mm to make it fit. Hope that makes sense. In your scenario I would then suggest just buying the 58mm unless you have other lenses that you plan using it on in the future 😊
@@AndrikLangfield Thank you so much! Exactly what I needed!
@@evakostadima3170 I'm glad that helped :) You're welcome!
I wonder if it has any negative effect on our modern day camera’s AF performance. Or maybe that’s a silly question which I’ll gladly accept 🙃
Hey, not at all, It's a great question! :) So like 95% of the time, it's not noticeable at all, where it become a slight issue is when you shoot directly into light and your whole image becomes diffused, since the filter is diffusing the light it lowers the overall contrast of the image making it harder to focus. Imagine it similar to what your camera tries to do when focusing on a white wall or directly at the sun :) Hope that helps!
But, can't we do this in post?
You can deffinately get some similar results. Not the same though and not as good :)
Nice video. Thanks. Sub!
Thank you so much! :)
@@AndrikLangfield I like calm, themed and nice stuff. Opposites of McKinnon. Well done!
@@PawelChyrowskithanks Pawel, glad to hear. Still trying to figure it all out so that means alot! Any suggestions on videos/content you'd like to see?
@@AndrikLangfield Don't change anything. It's perfect. If I had to recommend anything. See the Christofer Frost channel for lens tests. But take the fix for vintage glasses also. This is a magic, and you don't need a scientific approach.
@@PawelChyrowski thanks so much for that! I'll check out that channel :) and great idea about some vintage glass stuff, that would be a fun video to make!
Do not buy from Moment if you need your gear in a timely manner. I paid for one of these filters on Monday. Well it’s Thursday and the filter still hasn’t even been shipped yet lol. Worse part is I payed for 2 day fedex shipping lol 🤦🏻♂️
