Hi.... Evan thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Great mods... but I think you missed a setting or two on the rims... keep the centers where they are and put the rims on opposite sides... valves on the inside... but it's maby just me and camera angles... love your commitment to what you do and thanks for sharing it all.. stay safe 🏴
Be Glad Evan that you are capable and have the equipment to do all the things you do on the farm. Most people don’t have your qualifications and the equipment to do it and would have to pay someone to do those jobs. In the long run you are miles ahead of most. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us.
Many miles.
Older tractors have much easier methods to adjust the width, it amazes me that it is such a chore on a modern tractor!
If you change the outer rim from side to side, then you can space the wheels out... that what they are made for...
Thats Wright what you say, thats the way its good👍👍
I thought the same thing when I saw the rim type. We keep all our tractors out as wide as we can go and add ballast and some we add weights to hold the hills in SW Pa and NW Wv
Use the tester Evan, it don’t hurt as much, done it myself good for waking up though. Are you trying to get more stability? If you haven’t try water in your rear tyres, about three quarters full, helps with loader work as well. Yes they are a wether and next time I’ll watch the whole video first. I would still let those guys know about the spacer though.
Awesome job
Could you not put the tires on opposite sides and put the center dish on the other side of the rim mounts to achieve the wider width without wheel spacers?
Also I would be a little hesitant using those spacers with the spacer to rim pilot being undersized. The pilot is what holds the rim centered and takes some of the load since the rim does not have the tapered acorn lug nuts. In all reality it will probably be fine, but the potential the rim could shift on the spacer is there.
I enjoy your videos, keep it up!
Yes, leave the wheel centers, swap the rear tires/rims side to side. The rim mounting lugs are offset to one side.
Y'all beat me to this one... Leave the centers and swap sides with the rims.
Yeah i thought the same. Hes not utilizing the full 8 positions. I would not use wheel spacers when i could be using 8 position wheels
I believe those wheels will go 8” wider.
Your doing fine don’t get hurt
I have a ton of those premier one temporary fences and I really have a love/hate relationship with them.
You can also gain tread width with your current setup by taking the rim off the center of each wheel and swapping sides with the wheels.
you will not regret widening things out and the ballast will sure help a lot. Great video. thanks
Happens 🤷
Thanks for the video
Love the fact you are so straight forward about stuff. Thank you for sharing; takes mucho grace to be publicly truthful with outcome in each scenario. PurrrFECT!!!
Adding 4 inches of spacers (2 ea side) to my tractor made all the difference in the world on my SW Virginia hills.
Please put a jack stand under the tractor. Never trust the jack alone. If you did and I missed it I apologize...
Take the outer rims off and switch with the other side and you will have two more with options. I did that with my 860 Ford with similar rim style.
He's not going to like reading this. Of course the tires need dismounted. Just wait for the dissimilar corrosion on those spacers.
you could have enlarged the wheels without spasers by changging the wheels, the right for the left one
Evan, 1st should you put some nonsiege grease on the wheel spacer?
2nd contact ARIAT & get your wife some W/P boots or shoes (steel toes) to replace her flip-flops. They could protect her from snakes in her morning chores & Injuries.
Having the wheel spacers will save you from tipping sideways & after getting
the tires filled you will be safer on the tractor period.
Wider spacing makes a more stable machine
Evan you're a very smart man and got great stuff to work with also and enjoy you and Rebecca both and your videos,,,,thanks to both of you and keep up thehe great work
A farmer and a machinist I like that
4 foot cheater bar of galvy pipe will increase leverage on those lugs enough to make them squeak for mercy.
Good stuff Evan. Keeping it real as always. Don't ever change mate.
I do enjoy the content you share, thank you.
THINK of it this way- YUR a great teacher. Thanks.
There are days like that Evan.👏👏🇨🇮
I know it was a lot of work, but at least you had everything you needed, and the know how to make it fit right. And I definitely think it's worth it to add the spacers. My T654 is just too narrow sometimes.
Make sure you go back and check the torque on those inner lug nuts after a few days of use.
I'm glad you were able to save the little turkey chick that was on it's side.
Great job Evan!
Evan so much work as you said for only a few inches more. Did I miss or didn't you tell us why you moved the wheels out.
A dairy farm I watch in Wisconsin Gierok Farm use beet juice as ballast because it does not freeze.
Those are some skittish sheep.
Evan, great job. The extra width will make the tractor more stable. Also, the centering comes from the lug hole pattern. Anything you do to the center has no effect on the tire centering.
Depends on the lug nuts, if they're flat faced lug nuts, then it's a hub centric design and should be tight on the hub, otherwise you risk bending or breaking a stud. One quick option would be to build a set of centering rings out of aluminum to fill the gap, but considering how small it is, he'd probably have to try and farm that out to a quality shop that could make a set.
On a previous video I noticed that you sprayed the pigs with water. That only makes them hotter. It's been my experience that you only want to spray their heads. Spraying their heads will cool them better. Just like when you are hot and run water on your head. PS I love your videos.
It truly looks like you are becoming a farmer. From what I have seen this type of day happens every once in a while. Got it done and that is what matters. Take heart. I honestly think some of the frustration comes from doing the type of work that you do where things are made or adjusted to specifications. Animals and all of their care and problems are so incalculable sometimes. You are OK. Take Care.
Better to push than pull on that rachet, safe your back brother, get a 3/4 20 volt impact or 1 inch impact!
You should be proud of your skills and equipment that allowed for the final success in widening the tractor wheelbase. Sorry for the frustration but wow you can fix any and all, there on your homestead. Lucky animals too.
You did good!!😊 thanks
curious as to why you didnt just use the additional wider widths available via turning the outer wheel rims around as they are designed to do??? vs adding stress to the axle by adding axle length via spacers?....adding fluid ballast will greatly improve the tractor performance with the loader and other implements
I use those net fences all the time for goats. I separate the bottom 3 rows electrically and the fence works much better. Just cut the wires where they join the bundle.
I would not put the spacers on. There is a greater moment around the wheel bearings now, even the seals may wear out a little quicker now as a result. Things these days are designed to pretty tight parameters and making that sort of modification may be problematic also, it may nullify the warranty.
Hey!! Don't complain!! YOU GOT TO USE YOUR LATHE!!! =)
If you would have taken the left tire off the center and moved it to the right side on the out side of the center the rim mounts should be off set
Thanks Evan
Sometimes times chicken. Sometimes feathers. It's just the way it goes. Actually, I want to thank you for the spacer issue. I've considered buying spacers for my subcompact tractor, but maybe it isn't worth the effort. No idea what brand you bought, but I think I'll put my money into ballast. I've got the rear tires loaded already. My light duty grapple seems really heavy and makes the whole rig nose heavy so I need to add weight to the rear end anyway. Good info on the netting too. I considered it for keeping deer out of our garden, but it would appear my choice of poly wire might have been a good one. Hang in there Evan. Days like this one just make the really good days all that much more sweet.
Whats going on with the Alice Chambers? I know my spelling is off, but I believe you know what I am talking about.
It makes life easier when your animals come running for nuts, gentle persuasion.
When you get the D17 finished, try the spin-out rims. And learn how to use the power steering to assist changing the front axle width. Used to do that a couple times a yesr.
Evan just wondered when you casterated the ram did you use a band or did you use a knife...when we were in FFA in high school our ag teacher said the only way to casterate a ram was to bite the testicles off or they would get infected...he bit off many of lamb fries...lol
I think today wasn’t a waisted effort. I the grand scheme of things I know you’ll be glad that you now have the extra width for your tractor. Don’t criticize your honest efforts in the accomplishments that you and Rebecca are producing. Sometimes I think that you are too hard on yourself.
Man, definitely one of those days. Ah well, always tomorrow!
Evan are you doing to make the mudguards bigger? Somerset Mike.
👍👍👍👍👍👌
👍
Be careful the smoke can catch up on your breathing
You should have called the Company anyway, after almos one year; they did not tell you either to fit it as soon a you received it. Now , if you call, they will tell you that you should have done so, before messing with them.
Switch your hubs and rims! No need for the spacers.
Evan in opinion, you need to let the company know. There's a dimensional problem. Or it ain't gonna get fixed.
Some people are getting lung infections weeks after being exposed to the wildfire smoke.
Some days are like that. I myself hated my electrical netting. It was always getting tangled and to get it deployed quickly really takes two people. I finally got rid of it. Based on the animals you have I would only put it with its hassle if you want to let your birds into the pasture. The sheep, cows, steers, and pigs will all respect that poly rope. Again IMHO....it's way easier to run a 2-3 strand poly on some t-posts than to run the netting. I also agree with you on the spacers. Unless you're mowing sideways on a hill I think you're money ahead to just fill the tires.
You should tell the company so if they choose they can change the design so other people won't have the same experience.
For what it’s worth the tractor looks better with the wider tires
After they eat down that area you can shape that electric fence differently for them to get more grass in that area. I'd you get what I'm saying lol
Are you gonna make the front wider?
Why didn't you just reverse the centers? You have the centers set all the way in. You could have just put the left on the right and right on the left and widened the width.
My back hurts watching you torque those lug nuts lifting. I always try to use my dead weight or push down when doing jobs like that.
I live in the Southerntier of New York State.
I stay inside on days with poor air quality from the fires or I wear a KN95 mak if I have to go outside.
My lungs still hurt.
Just curious why you wanted the wider wheelbase and what are the dimensions for your garage doors? If you could do it again, would you go with the 654 tractor or bigger/smaller? Really enjoying the growth of the farm over the years. Keep it up...
I'd at least let the company know the problems you had with their spacers..you'd be doing them a favor and who knows maybe they would offer you something in return..lol
You didn't need the spacers you 8 way wheels the operators manual should show the configuration wheels for different tread spacing.
Why do you want to make it wider
If you would have swapped tires from side to side you would have gained a lot more width, and not needed the spacers. The rim flanges are off set not centered
Do you guys still use the shooting range?
Darn Canadians smoking all that pot
Don’t Bogart all the good oxygen, man. 🤣
You might still want to let them know so others don’t have the same problems you’ve had
Are those spacers tym products or second hand????
Even
Why don't you just move the wheel from one side to the auther just the tyre and rim
Evan think you mite want a bigger lathe
Can't see what an extra 5 inches is gonna do for you. You don't have any land on high incline.
Couldn't you just swap sides as the mounting bosses on the wheels are offset?

You are kinda getting away from your game plan for the property on this video. Go cut some fire wood for winter. Or work on the Allis Chalmers
Some days you are the windshield, some days you are the bug.
LOL My Dad used to say some days you are the hammer some days the nail.
Sometimes you are the dog, sometimes you are the fire hydrant.
😂
Way to suffer thru that change on the tractor. Hang in there bud, you are doing a great job. Thanks for including us.
Did you already spin the rims backwards? I understand you've already reversed the inner ring, but the rim itself can be reversed too. Of course, then your tire tread is backwards, so at that point you should swap the rear tires... Then you don't require spacers.
this... i was just about to write this...,
Shame it was not such a good day for you, but I enjoyed watching ALL of it. I am amazed at all the knowledge and equipment you have to fix your problems. Good job I would say.🥰👌❤
You have a lot of trust in your floor jack ....
Yea that alway makes me nervous. Imo use jack stand...
I hate to burst your bubble but you didn't have your wheels set as wide as they go before getting the spacers. Notice the "bosses" where the dish bolts to the rim are off center? That's so you can swap the rims from one side to the other and gain 4 additional (wider) spacings. It's too late this time around, but now you know...
Don't' trust that jack
WELL YOU DID MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT. SO WAS IT POINTLESS. BESIDES EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE. 🆓🗺️👍
Enjoy your video Evan and see whate you did man wy not change only rims . back of and think .
Days of effort that don't seem to have an immediate positive result can be discouraging. :) But it's honest work in a beautiful place. And you learned from it. So it's never wasted. Consider it a "tuition" day. :)
You might want to go back and check those inner nuts after a bit of work before you fill the tires. I am a little worried about how well the spacer/wheel will hold up with the hub centric wheels not being centered by the hub. If it were mine I would yank those off and get new ones or just abandon that idea. It would be a shame to tear up a wheel or the inner hub.
The spacers should be ok, but yeah, I'd be concerned about how loose the wheels are on the hub.
Rubber mallet ok. Machine on lathe not ok! I love the honesty of all of the videos. Nobody hurt. Good day!
Can't you just swap the wheels and flip the hubs? Its built into the wheel and hub.
Please don’t take any offense to what I’m about to say so here it goes. We absolutely love your videos and want you to keep making them so please think safely when working on your tractor. Should never trust a jack to keep anything heavy off the ground. Please please use blocks, stands or other stationary items that can handle heavy loads so you don’t get hurt or worse. I’ve seen even those wheely jacks fail.
times two
That's the closest I've ever seen you to being grumpy/nearly angry, ever, over something so inconsequential Evan! Mind you, as the actress said to the bishop, an extra 5" can make a big difference! 😅
Ah, you're braver than me, was thinking a similar joke and hurriedly self-censored!! Absolutely right though, way less grumpy than most, and just look at that beautiful farm behind him in the last shot. Who could be grumpy for long? lol
If you ever get to Harbor Frieght, you should pickup a furniture dolly. That way you can put it under your wheel to remove and replace the tires, but you probably will build a metal dolly if you have to remove the tractor tires.
Make your job easier and safer.
Did you already switch the rims side to side? The loops on the rims are offset and you should get more width by dishing out the wheels like you have now and swapping rims and tires side to side
