Hi friends! Welcome back and happy Saturday :) Today I wanted to share with you a timeline of my barista years - what happened, how it happened, where it happened, and then some. Through sharing those experiences with you, I also wanted to dive into how Starbucks and being a barista in general changed the trajectory of my life. It made me a better human; more empathetic, compassionate, aware & understanding. But above all, it gave me something to connect with people (you) over (coffee) - and that's where the magic began. I encouraged my kids to work in the service industry as their first jobs. They were in High school. It has made them better “customers” and overall, better people ❤
Yes!! I've always said one day when I have kiddos, they'll definitely be working in food service/retail at 16 😂 It's a very humbling experience

Belated Happy Birthday! I worked at a local coffee shop part time while my kids were young and in school. I learned 1) just how much sugar people eat and 2) diverse populations tend to avoid going to coffee shops that are right next to the Sheriffs Department. I was also was volunteering at a homeless shelter at the time. And you’re right, we are all not so different…..

Beautiful video! Hey, have you considered doing videos about airport Starbucks, where everyone is in a fog and/or a rush? Also, more people are creating coffee stations in their houses - any talk amongst coffeeshop employees/managers about that? Does it even impact their long lines? Mwah to you and your compassion and awareness of those who believe they are entitled.
